Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard Backs Abraham Tammy, Told Him To Shine For England.

Frank Lampard has backed Tammy Abraham to score regularly for England after his impressive start to the season for Chelsea was rewarded with a call-up to the national squad.

The 22-year-old was named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for this month’s Euro 2020 qualifiers in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria alongside Blues teammates Ross Barkley, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori on Thursday.

Abraham has eight goals in 10 appearances this season and Chelsea manager Lampard is pleased to see him back in the England squad after two previous friendly appearances in 2017.

“Everyone knows his form’s really good. I think he’s been in the equation probably for Gareth all season because of how he’s played and it’s a natural progression for him,” Lampard said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“I’m delighted for him. I know he’s a proud lad, as he should be proud to get a call-up.”

Abraham had flirted with switching his international allegiance to Nigeria, a country he qualifies for through his father, but will be committed to England if he appears in either forthcoming qualifier.

Lampard, whose Chelsea side travel to Southampton on Sunday, was cautious not to load too much pressure on the young forward’s shoulders.

“I think he has all the attributes to go there and be successful but it will be another step for him and I’m sure he has those attributes. I’m sure he has the attitude to take that challenge of being a goalscorer for England,” he said.

“And there’s competition there. When he steps into the squad he’ll see that there are great strikers in that squad already around him so it’s a good challenge for Tammy.”

While Abraham’s selection was expected, especially with the forward eligible for Nigeria, the inclusion of 21-year-old defender Tomori was more of a surprise.

Lampard, who was Derby boss last season, described the former Derby loanee as a “dream to work with” during the past 15 months they have spent together.

“It’s a great step up and it’s in his hands to go there and show what he shows us every day,” he said.

Breaking10: They earned their spots in the team – England coach, Gareth Southgate defends calling up Tammy Abraham and Tomori.

England Head coach, Gareth Southgate has dismissed suggestions he called up footballers Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori to the England squad to face Czech Republic next week so they won’t be able to play again for Nigeria.

Chelsea players Abraham and Tomori have been in sensational form this season and hail from Nigeria but are eligible to play for England as they were born there, and according to FIFA rules, Abraham and Tomori can still play for Nigeria even though they have played for the England youth teams- but if they play for England’s senior team they can’t represent Nigeria again.

The Nigeria Football Federation have attempted to convince both players to pledge their allegiance to the three-time African champions without success and Southgate has revealed that it is morally wrong to cap-tie both players just to prevent them from representing Nigeria.

Speaking to reporters after his squad announcement on Thursday, Southgate said on Abraham : ”I haven’t discussed it with him, I have left Frank to have the conversation to let him know he’s in the squad which is always nice for a club manager to be able to do.

”We have got literally close to hundreds of players now in our system with dual nationality so I don’t think it is ethically right just to give a player a cap to make sure they can’t play for somebody else.”

He added : ”The two boys Fik and Tammy are in the squad this time on merit.
”I am not going to guarantee that they are going to get on the pitch but they have been part of our junior system, Fik came a little bit later than Tammy but he’s been part of the youth team that won the World Cup.

”As far as we are concerned, the two boys have been developed through English football.
”They are English players and I’m sure they have huge desire to play for England at senior level”.

Pierre Aubameyang Blasts Borussia Dortmund CEO Who Says He Left Because Of Money.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit back at Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke over his claims the Arsenal striker left the German club for money.

Earlier this week Watzke claimed in an interview that Aubameyang, who signed for Arsenal from Dortmund for £56million in January 2018, made the switch to the Gunners because of money

The 60-year-old also made a jibe about Aubameyang playing in the Europa League and not in the Champions League.

Watzke told Suddeutsche Zeitung: ‘Of course it is hard to keep a player in the face of such sums. Some go to clubs because of this money, where they have not played Champions League for years.

‘[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television.’

In response to the accusation, Aubameyang called Dortmund CEO ‘a clown’, and instead accussed him of selling his former teammate Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona because of money.

Aubameyang’s tweet read: ‘Better for you I never talk about why I really left Dortmund Mr Watzke you such a clown.

‘I remember that time you said we never gonna sell Ousmane then you saw more than 100M you were the first to take that money.

‘Don’t talk about money please!!! Leave me alone pls.’

Champion and undefeated American boxer, Deontay wilder challenged a rematch with cuba luis. (Details).

Undefeated American boxer, Deontay Wilder is set for a rematch with Cuba’s Luis Ortiz on November 23rd, in Las Vegas United States, in what will be the third defence of his World Boxing Council heavyweight crown in a year.

According to the organisers and promoters, the November 23rd matchup at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas gives 40-year-old southpaw Ortiz a chance to avenge his loss to Wilder in a 10th-round stoppage in March 2018 in his only prior world title bout.

“When I fought Ortiz, not only did he have the pedigree, but also he had the classification of being the boogeyman of the division.

I agree with those who say that Luis Ortiz was my toughest fight to date. No one wanted to fight him and they still don’t. In the rematch there’s more confidence and more motivation to do what I have to do.

“I’ve already seen the style before. It’s going to make it more fun. I can’t wait to see how he tries to handle me when I’m at my best” Wilder said.

The card also features Mexico’s Leo Santa Cruz, the reigning World Boxing Association featherweight champion, fighting compatriot Miguel Flores for the WBA super featherweight crown, trying to become a champion in his fourth different weight class.

Wilder, 41-0 with one drawn and 40 knockouts, will turn 34 in October before facing Ortiz, 31-1 with 26 knockouts. In their first matchup at Brooklyn, Wilder knocked down Ortiz in the fifth round, was stunned by the Cuban in the seventh but battled back to drop Ortiz again with a powerful right uppercut in the 10th to end the fight.

It will be the 10th time Wilder defends the title he won by unanimous decision over Canada’s Bermane Stiverne in January 2015. Wilder will be making his third defense in just over 11 months, having settled for a draw with Britain’s Tyson Fury last December before knocking out countryman Dominic Breazeale in May.

Ortiz has won three fights since losing to Wilder, the most recent a 10-round decision over Romanian Christian Hammer in March. “I have to give Deontay Wilder a lot of credit for taking this fight because it shows he has the heart of a true champion,” Ortiz said.

Athlete Divine Oduduru got disqualified from IAAF championship. (Reasons)

Top Nigerian sprinter Divine Oduduru has been disqualified from taking part in the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Doha, after pulling out of Friday’s 100m event.

Oduduru ran foul of one of the competition rules which resulted in a stiff punishment from the world athletics body, IAAF. Oduduru had pulled out of the 100m event on Friday to focus on the 200m but the decision has ruled him out of the event and he will not also be part of the team’s relays, according to the IAAF rule.

Oduduru was initially entered for three events in the Men 100m, 200m and 4x100m relays. However, on the eve of his participation, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN tweeted that he had opted to ‘concentrate’ on the 200m and pulled out of the 100m which he had been registered for.

Allowing him to have his way was a gaffe on the part of the AFN as the competition rules does not allow such last-minute withdrawals.

Consequently, on event day Oduduru was not listed in the Men’s 200m heat, because of the violation in the regulations.

With Oduduru technically knocked off, only Emmanuel Arowolo will represent Nigeria in the event which is starting on Sunday.

An excerpt of the competition rules states:

At all competitions under Rules 1.1(a), (b), (c) and (f), an athlete shall be excluded from participation in all further events (including other events in which he is simultaneously participating) in the competition, including relays, in cases where: (a) a final confirmation was given that the athlete would start in an event but then failed to participate;

Note: A fixed time for the final confirmation of participation shall be published in advance. At the African Games, Oduduru also opted out of the 100m and only competed in the 200m and 4x100m races where he won silver medals.

The AFN is yet to issue any official statement on the obvious technical gaffe that has further trimmed Nigeria’s slim chances of winning any medal in Doha.

Meanwhile, the duo of Raymond Ekevwo and Rilwanu Alowonle who competed in the semifinal of the 100m and 400m Hurdles events on Saturday both failed to make it to the finals having finished 5th and 8th respectively.
