Shehu Sani message Ndoma-Egba hours after wife’s demise

Yesterday was a moment of utter sadness for one of the top figure personalities in Nigerian political space.

Former Nigerian Senate leader, Ndoma-Egba has lost his wife to a ghastly motor accident on the 20th November, 2020.

Senator Ndoma-Egba lost his mother-in-law earlier this year and his wife has done the same in just few months after.

Many would have thought it is a fortunate year for his wife who luckily escaped death when robbers attacked them.

However, it all seem like God has got different plan for her concerning how he want her to leave the earth.

As much as death is inevitable and every soul would have a taste, it’s still so painful when it happens.

Popular figures have sent their condolences to the politician. After 24 hours of the miserable event, and we all hope God grant him the fortitude to bear the loss.

How Shehu Sani’s conversation was recorded – Witness tells Court

Two additional witnesses on Wednesday testified against Senator Shehu Sani before Justice I.E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

One of them, Mohammed Sani, son of Kaduna-based Alhaji Sani Dauda (ASD), who is the plaintiff in the matter disclosed how he followed the advice of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and recorded the conversations between his father and Senator Sani.

Senator Sani, who represented Kaduna Central senatorial district is facing EFCC’s prosecution on two-count criminal charges, bordering on name-dropping, influence-peddling and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of $25,000.00 from Alhaji Dauda.

Mohammed Sani, who testified as prosecution witness seven (PW7), told the court that he was the one who set up a phone in his father’s office and also in his home in Kaduna that recorded the conversation between his father and Shehu Sani, which has been rendered as evidence in Senator Sani’s prosecution.

“We went to EFCC’s office on Monday after Shehu Sani stopped picking and responding to my dad’s calls and text messages, to write a statement on the issue. I needed to be there too to write my own part of the story because I was the one who called Abubakar, a bureau de change operator, telling him that my dad needed United States Dollars equivalent of N5 million.

“At the commission’s office, they told us to record any conversations between my dad and Shehu Sani, and that’s how we started recording him. I set the phone for recording in my dad’s office in Abuja and also in Kaduna, where Shehu Sani came with his brother, one Dr. Ibrahim asking my father to change his statement with EFCC,” Sani said.

The witness further told the court that EFCC later collected his dad’s two phones and his own phone as exhibits in the case.

Prosecution witness eight (PW 8), Fatima Asabe Umar, an EFCC staff in the Digital Forensic Department, who conducted forensic examinations on the phones, also testified.

“As a digital forensic analyst, I examine, analyze mobile devices, computers, and any digital device that have memory among many others. I received a memo from Ibrahim Musa of the AMCON Desk of the Commission, requesting us to extract a record from the two Samsung mobile phones and one iPhone.

“Immediately after receiving the request, I collected the devices, three phones. I examined them. Afterwards I wrote a report to the AMCON Desk, asking Bako Mohammed to come for the devices they brought. I gave them the report, and also burnt it into a compact disk and gave it to them,” she said.

After hearing the testimonies, the trial judge adjourned the case till July 9, 2020, for continuation of trial.

COVID-19: Madagascar imposes fresh lockdown – shehu sani react

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the Senate, has questioned the efficacy of the COVID-19 Organics as Madagascar has imposed a fresh lockdown due to the rise in cases of COVID-19.

Recall with Noble Reporters Media that the country on Sunday imposed a fresh lockdown on its capital, Antananarivo following a new surge in coronavirus cases.

This is coming two months after restrictions were eased in Madagascar.

“The re-imposition of lockdown by the Madagascan Government in the capital city as a result of surge in infection raises questions on the efficacy of their remedy.

“However, it’s right to revert to measures that would contain the second wave of the spread,” Shehu Sani tweeted.

Shehu Sani

Madagascar had sent the herbal drink to Nigeria and other African countries to help combat the virus and President Muhammadu Buhari received the concoction which had since been placed under test.

Just last week, the Nigerian government said the herbal remedy will be subjected to further research despite being proven to be a cure for only malaria.

COVID-19: Patients recover after using Malaria drugs – Shehu Sani react.

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has reacted to the claims from discharged COVID-19 patients that they were treated with chloroquine.

NobleReporters in a report remembered that AIT boss, Raymond Dokpesi, revealed that it was malaria drugs that were administered to him before he recovered from COVID-19.

Same claim was made by former presidential aide, Doyin Okupe, and Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.

In reaction, Shehu Sani questioned the panic concerning COVID-19 when patients do recover and are discharged.

“High Chief Raymond Dokpesi and many others who went into Isolation revealed that they were treated with chloroquine, fully recovered and discharged.

“How come we are succeeding and countries with advanced medical systems are failing and falling to the same virus? What is happening?” he tweeted.

Earlier, he had said, “Treated and discharged, treated and discharged. Why are we really too scared and panicky about what we can easily treat and discharge within days, if actually what we are treating and discharging is the same thing that is scaring us?

“And why is the World not taking notice of us but Madagascar?”

COVID-19: Two things worsening infections in Kano – Shehu Sani reveal. [Nigeria]

Former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has blamed mass illiteracy and ignorance for the worsening case of COVID-19 in Kano State.

Kano yesterday recorded 92 cases of COVID-19 which draws the total number to 311 amid mysterious deaths which occurred last week.

According Shehu Sani, misapplication of religious beliefs is getting the people away from science and towards harms way.

He said, “The situation in Kano is an avoidable creeping tragedy. In times of health emergencies, religious leaders in Kano have a history of promoting dangerous myths, hazardous superstitions and fictional narratives,” the former senator said.

“The political leadership in Kano is tragically bending towards the lunacy of the mythical, anti science religious clerics thereby setting the mass of the populace in the harms way.

“From Polio to Coronavirus, the north and particularly Kano has historically become a breeding ground and a harbinger of infectious and contagious diseases as a direct result of the misrepresentation of religion to undermine medical realities or the concoction and dissemination of bogus conspiracy theories and conjectures.

“Mass illiteracy and ignorance in Kano fertilizes, catalyzes and aggravates the COVID-19 situation in the state.

“The most efficient and effective way of inciting the mass of the people in Kano or most parts of the North against any idea, policy, substance or matter or against any science, technology, food or drug, is to induct or recruit religious leaders to rebuke or denounce it as a conspiratorial plot to reduce the number of Muslims, and it will be wholeheartedly believed by a gullible mass.”

He added that the almajiri kids show ere sent to their villages forcefully would one day return as bandits.

“Interstate Almajiri exchange program will not solve the Almajiri problems in the North. The strategy of forceful ‘deportation’ of the Almajiri to their villages or their states of origins amounts to hiding our dirty laundry instead of cleaning them,” he said.

“The Almajiri you refused to educate and integrate but choose to forcefully take out to the villages, will return as bandits or insurgents.

“Northern Politicians and elites toxic strategy of exploitation of religion to rise to power or preserve it has continuously undermined the region socio economic development.”

Shehu Sani’s Shocking Request – Will FG Do This To Nigerians in Isolation?

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna lawmaker has proffered solution to discourage Nigerians from escaping coronavirus isolation centers.

NobleReporters recalls that five indigenes of Plateau State escaped from an isolation centre in Nasarawa State.

Governor of Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule confirming the development said they escaped into the bush after their vehicle stopped in the Forest Village area, a boundary between the State and Nasarawa.

Also, a COVID-19 patient, few days ago escaped the isolation center in Osun State.

This has become a serious concern as this could pose a threat to others in the States.

Reacting, Sani took to his Twitter page, proposing that the federal government give N20,000 to Nigerians at isolation centers.

His tweet read: “Nigerians in Isolation Centre should be entitled to N20,000 to discourage escape.”

Buhari knows nothing about Sanusi’s dethronement – Garba Shehu.

The Presidency has said that President Muhammadu Buhari had no hand in the dethronement of former Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said in a statement on Wednesday that all such insinuations are “untrue, malicious and politically motivated.”

Shehu added: “The President does not have a history of intervening in the affairs of any state in the country unless the issue at hand is of national consequence. On such matters which impinge on national security, he has a duty of involvement as the law stipulates.

“As outlined in the Constitution, the appointment or removal of emirs and other traditional leaders is strictly within the jurisdiction of state governments. It is unfair and disingenuous of opposition politicians to try to link the situation in Kano State to the Federal Government and the Nigerian president.

“Although a retired general and former Military Head of State, President Buhari clearly understands that under the current democratic dispensation, the government at the centre cannot read instructions or twist the arms of all or any of the 36 state governments making up the federation. They all have their powers specified under the Constitution.

“President Buhari commends the people of Kano for keeping calm in the past few days of the dethronement announcement.

“He prays that the will of Allah will be done at all times and that the emirate/state and its people continue to experience progress irrespective of who is on the throne.”

End poverty! – Shehu Sani tells North elite

Aformer lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has rubbished moves by some state governors in the North to arrest beggars found on the streets.

According to Sani, poverty and illiteracy must be addressed before begging can be brought to an end.

He expressed his thoughts in a statement on Thursday in Abuja while reacting to plans by Kano and Nasarawa states to criminalise and arrest persons begging for alms on the streets.

Sani said, “You can arrest beggars but you can’t end begging as long as the social, cultural, political and economic factors that contribute to begging exists.

“Beggars are tragic victims and direct result of a nation failed by its successive governing elites. You can’t end begging without ending poverty and illiteracy.”

The former lawmaker blamed politicians for making use of beggars to win elections and demonise opponents.

Sani called on elites to retrace their steps, adding that crude oil had not enriched the people of Niger Delta while political power was yet to bring wealth nor peace to the North.

EFCC reacts to keeping Shehu Sani in Underground cells

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani’s allegation of putting suspects in undergound cells.

The Zonal Office Head of the anti-graft agency, Aminu Aliyu, who took newsmen round the EFCC facility said undergound cells does not exist in the building. He also alleged that suspects prefer coming back to the cells after arraignment in court than being taken to prison.

He said;

“As you can see for yourself, we do not have underground cells here. Most of the suspects begged the judges to be taken back here because of the facility on ground.

“They eat normal food and three times a day, we have a clinic here where detainees are first treated in case of emergency.

“If anyone of you thinks all these have been arranged, you are welcome to come at anytime you chose, to spend time with us and see for yourself.

“If you want to visit any of our facilities across the country, you don’t need to give us prior notice of your coming. You can even arrange it as a group of reporters if you don’t want to come alone.”

Sani in a post on Twitter, said Adeboye had finally disembarked from the fence of caution and neutrality.

He said, “Pastor Adeboye finally disembarking from the fence of caution, moderation and neutrality and leading a match against insecurity is commendable. Protest gives wings and wheels to prayer.”

EFCC put me in underground cell – Shehu Sani said after release ..

A former Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has said operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, breached his fundamental human rights during his 30 days incarceration.

Sani in a statement on Saturday said apart from searching his houses and offices, the EFCC agents also forced him to declare his assets.

The rights activist also said they tried to subject him to polygraph lie detector tests, blocked his accounts, seized his phones and kept him in the underground cell of the agency for 30 days.

While pledging to abide by the bail conditions, Sani urged Nigerians to disregard the “lies against him by the EFCC spokesperson.”

Part of the statement read, “I wish to thank all individuals and groups that have shown concern, support, solidarity, and prayers during my 30 days of incarceration in the underground cell of the EFCC on the orders of its chairman.

“With gratitude to Almighty Allah, my special appreciation to Amnesty International, SERAP, HURIWA, and other groups, numerous to mention.

“My incarceration for 30 days in the jail of EFCC was unfair, unjust and a clear breach of my fundamental rights and hence stands condemned.

“During my unjust stay in the EFCC cell, I was subjected to traumatizing interrogations; My houses and offices were searched.

“They compelled me to declare my assets, they tried to subject me to polygraph lie detector tests, my accounts were blocked, and my phone was seized, all in the name of fictional $24,000 or $25, 000 extortion.

“Any Information planted in the media by the EFCC spokesperson while I was in their custody about me is outrightly false and nothing but a bacterial and fungal infested concoctions, typical of their style.

“Our country will continue to be at the bottom strata of the transparency International index as long as our anti-graft agencies only use their might and arsenal to crush ants while lacking the courage, the heart, and the liver to confront the snakes, the vultures and the hyenas of the ruling establishment.

“They can frame me, detain me but can’t silence me.

“I shall abide by all the conditions of my bail and appreciate the courage, compassion, and wisdom of the court in granting me the bail.

“In an ideal democratic state, all agencies of the government are obliged to operate within the dictates and the ambit of the rule of law or the nation leaps into tyranny.

“The rule book of Stalin, The manual of Hitler or road map of Mussolini should not be the guidance and the compass of the nation’s security and anti-corruption agencies in their quest to sanitize our country,” Sani added.

The charges were preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Senator Sani, pleaded not guilty to the charges while his counsel, A. Ibrahim, asked the court to grant his client bail.

He had been detained by the commission since December 31, 2019 over the allegation.

Shehu Sani was forced by EFCC to declare assets – Aide

…says his principal bank accounts has been blocked

An aide to former Nigerian lawmaker Shehu Sani on Sunday said that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has blocked his principal’s bank accounts.

Suleiman Ahmed, senior special adviser to Sani in a statement said the Nigerian anti-graft agency “forced (Sani) to declare his assets”.

He questioned EFCC’s professionalism in handling his principal’s case, alleging that the anti-graft agency had been compromised.

“What is the connection between allegations of extortion of $25,000 and then searching his residence, blocking his accounts and forcing him to declare his assets?” Ahmed queried

The EFCC arrested Sani for allegedly demanding money from one Sani Dauda, owner of ASD Motors, to persuade EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu to influence his case with the anti-graft agency.

Sani, however, denied the allegation, but the anti-graft agency insisted that it was keeping the former lawmaker in custody in compliance with a court order.

But Ahmed questioned the EFCC’s decision not detained Sani’s accuser “who admitted to giving bribe” and why it has not invited “Alhaji Samaila Isa Funtua who was mentioned in the frame up against Shehu Sani?”

Asides Magu, Sani was also accused of collecting money from Dauda for chief justice of Nigeria Tanko and other judges to influence the judgement of his pending case at the Supreme Court.

Dauda said Sani collected the money to use his connection with Mohammed. The CJN, however, denied having any connection with Sani.

Countering the allegations against his principal, Ahmed said Sani’s accuser has no case at the Supreme Court that will warrant him bribing Magu or Mohammed on behalf of Dauda.

Former Nigerian lawmaker Shehu Sani

“We have it on record that Shehu Sani’s accuser has no pending or ongoing case with the EFCC,” Ahmed said, “how comes did he give (gave) Shehu Sani bribe to give the EFCC or its chairman?”

He asked the EFCC to publish any evidence of the allegations against Sani and stop the threats.

“If you have any cheque or draft or anything to show please do so,” Ahmed said.

Controversy on Senator Shehu Sani’s Case – EFCC open up

…my detention is unjust

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said Sen. Shehu Sani, who is being detained by the commission for alleged extortion, has a case to answer.

The commission made this known on Friday in a statement by its acting spokesman, Mr Tony Orilade.

Orilade debunked insinuations that the anti-craft agency was persecuting the former lawmaker.

Sani, he said, has a case to answer.

Orilade said those defending him were driven by ignorance of the alleged offence.

The EFCC’s statement came after a civil society organisation, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), reportedly demanded immediate release of Sani from the commission’s custody.

Shehu Sani and Sani Dauda – the accused and accuser

The Executive Director of SERAP, Mr Adetokunbo Mumuni, accused the EFCC of violating both national and international laws with the ex-lawmaker’s detention.

“The EFCC has taken note of insinuations and phantom claims that it is `persecuting’ Senator Sani, because he is a known critic of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“The commission wishes to state that Senator Sani is currently facing criminal investigation, and being detained by the EFCC in very conducive environment, based on a valid court order.

“Invariably, claims in some quarters of the breach of his fundamental human rights, are merely in the imagination of the purveyors of such claims.

“Let it be stated clearly that Senator Sani has questions to answer as regards the alleged involvement in name-dropping.

“Particularly that he obtained $25,000 from Alhaji Sani Dauda, the ASD Motors boss, in order to help shield him from investigations being carried out by the EFCC,” it stated.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the Senate on the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) platform between 2015 and 2019, is a strong critic of the Buhari administration.

The former lawmaker had also reportedly alleged that the Federal Government was trying to silence him using the EFCC.

“For certain people to brazenly come out to defend a suspect, who is being probed for a serious offence as the one committed by Sani shows that they are not really conversant with his offence.

“It is unfortunate that certain people are ready to do anything to support evil for pecuniary gains. This is quite unfortunate,” the EFCC said.

Sani’s reaction:

Sani said the allegation was, “baseless, factless, unfounded, hollow and unsubstantiated”

He alleged that his accuser Alhaji Sani Dauda was sponsored to “tarnish his reputation and mute him”

“It is a scripted stream of mischievous concoctions and utter fabrications using a puppet state agent; all aimed at splashing feaces and mud on me.

“The extortion allegation is nothing but a wholesale falsehood, packaged in a phantom anti-graft facade to taint, stain and mute me. That shall never happen if I am alive. “I have made my statement and provided all my facts against their package of lies and I demand the EFCC to make public all the sheets of our statements and supporting documents for the world to see.

“My detention is unfair, unjust, prearranged and politically motivated. “Alhaji Sani Dauda and his hidden sponsors have not been able to provide any proof of their allegations. I’m unjustly incarcerated on the ground of an arranged two page petition backed with no evidential or documentary proof.

“Fascism thrives in frame up of its critics. They claim extortion and here they are closing my bank accounts, searching my houses and offices and demanding I declare my assets of which I have already done that at the CCB last year when I left the senate.

“Frame up cannot silence me!!! I have never ever met with the CJN or any judge or judges or ever called directly or indirectly to offer to give or to give directly or indirectly any form of gratification from Alhaji Sani Dauda

“I have never ever discussed with ASD on any form of bribe or gratification to be given to any judge or any EFCC official.

“The bribe story is phantom, the bribe story is a fake, imaginative work of fiction, cruelly crafted to smear me, to frame me and to justify my persecution.

“The bribe story is a heap of blatant lies and outright falsehood concocted and fabricated, using a front and the EFCC to premiere a state drama “ASD is a barely educated front for a state mission. Criminalizing me or “framing me” will not silence me, bend me or compromise me.”

I cannot keep mute and watch people accuse me wrongly – Shehu Sani

A former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has spoken for the first time after he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged extortion of $20,000 from owner of ASD Motors, Sani Dauda.

Sani, who has spent 10 days in the custody, said the allegations of extortion levelled against him was baseless and unfounded.

The former lawmaker said he would not be silent and that the allegations were aimed at smearing his name and justifying his persecution.

He disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

Sani revealed that he has provided all necessary statement and facts regarding the allegation to the EFCC, challenging the anti-graft agency to prove its case against him.

He said, “Alhaji Sani Dauda and his hidden sponsors have not been able to provide any proof of their allegations.

“I’m unjustly incarcerated on the ground of an arranged two-page petition backed with no evidential or documentary proof.

“The bribe story is a heap of blatant lies and outright falsehood concocted and fabricated, using a front and the EFCC to premiere a state drama.

“ASD is a barely educated front for a state mission. Criminalising me or “framing me” will not silence me, bend me or compromise me.”

Sani explained further that he has never met with the Chief Justice of Nigeria or any judge or judges directly or indirectly to offer any form of gratification from Alhaji Sani Dauda.

He added, “They claim extortion and here they are closing my bank accounts, searching my houses and offices and demanding I declare my assets of which I have already done that at the CCB last year when I left the Senate.

“The extortion allegation is nothing but a wholesale falsehood, packaged in a phantom anti-graft facade to taint, stain and mute me. That shall never happen if I am alive.”

Former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani

Earlier the EFCC had obtained an ex-parte order to keep Sani for a further 14 days while also urging Dauda to come forward to prove his allegations against the former lawmaker.

So far, the anti-graft agency is yet to announce if Dauda had come forward to shed more light into the matter or not.

Shehu Sani led as EFCC invade his abode in Abuja

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly invaded the Abuja residence of Senator Shehu Sani over alleged extortion.

It was gathered that the EFCC stormed the apartment in Wuse, Abuja at about 3:30pm on Wednesday to look for incriminating evidence against the former Kaduna senator.

The EFCC had last week arrested Sani for alleged extortion of $20,000 from the owner of ASD Motors.

Sani was elected senator in 2015, under the All Progressives Congress platform. When he could not get the party’s ticket in 2019, he ran on the ticket of the Peoples Redemption Party but lost to Uba Sani of the APC.

He has been a trenchant critic of the APC government, both in Kaduna and Abuja, since then.

Some of the offences the EFCC may slam the senator with are extortion, name dropping, and financial crimes.

Sani, who represented Kaduna central senatorial district between 2015 and 2019, allegedly collected money from Sani Dauda, owner of ASD Motors, promising to pass it on to Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the anti-graft agency.

$24,000 extortion: Shehu Sani disagree with lie detector test

…said he is ready to swear with Quran

Former Senator Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Shehu Sani on Monday January 6 refused to take a lie detector test over the alleged $24,000 he was accused of extorting from the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ASD Motors, Alhaji Sani Dauda.

Though Sani opted to swear by the Holy Qur’an, it is however speculated that he might undergo the polygraph test with his wife today January 7 as he has already been moved out of his detention cell to the Polygraph Clinic in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) annex in Wuse 2, Abuja.

The N.Rs culled, he said;

“I won’t take the test; I do not trust the machine. I am not sure whether or not the machine is working well.

“Instead of polygraph, give me the Holy Qur’an to swear with.”

A highly-placed source said Sani was asked to put his resistance into writing for record purposes.

“Following his refusal, our detectives did not force him to go through the test.

“But they asked him to write a statement on his refusal to undergo polygraph because he had earlier sworn by his grave but he has not been straightforward.” NobleReporters culled

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ASD Motors, Alhaji Sani Dauda who has allegedly been under pressure to withdraw the petition is expected to go through the polygraph test with his wife today January 7.

Report says

“Mrs. Dauda was expected to be interrogated on Monday (yesterday) but she was slightly indisposed. The complainant got in touch with us and promised to come with his wife on Wednesday.

Shehu Sani

“So far, Dauda has not withdrawn his petition against Senator Sani because he told our team that he was sure of his facts.

“On his part, Sani said he did not extort any money from Dauda. The job of the investigators is to get to the root of transactions between the accuser and the accused. We will crack this case.”
