Living Faith Bishop, David Oyedepo has taken to his Twitter page to say that people who fail to pay their tithe are “under a financial curse” and can never prosper.
Oyedepo tweeted: “Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing, because when you’re not paying your tithe, you’re under a financial curse. #Tithe #Breakinglimits.”
A PhD candidate at Edinburgh University disagreed with Oyedepo, writing: “Tithing cannot create wealth! Wealth creation occurs when you deploy capital to create value. When X gives 1/10 of his earnings to your church, there’s no production or investment, thus he has not created value, but only enriched you. Tithing is a church sponsored ponzi scheme..”
The tweet has caused mixed reactions from Twitter users.
Pastor Laurie Idahosa, wife of clergyman Pastor Feb Idahosa has stated that marriage is not a place to have “entanglements” with others.
Laurie said marriage means being entangled to one person. She warned people not to allow themselves be influenced by pop culture because such could lead to destruction.
She wrote: “Marriage is not meant to be the place for “entanglements.”
“You are meant to be tangled in a one-flesh, one love, one lover kind of commitment. Any questions, read your Word. Don’t let pop culture creep in and give you any stupid and self-destructive ideas unless of course you want to visit divorce court in your near future.”
Her advice comes after Jada Pinkett-Smith, 48, admitted she had an “entanglement” with August Alsina, 27, while she was separated from husband Will Smith.
It has been established by the Edo State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Yinka Omorogbe, that Uwaila Omozuwa who was raped and murdered in Benin was nor pregnant.
A report had surfaced which stated that Omozuwa was killed by a man who was hired by the pastor of the church where she was found in a pool of her own blood.
The report added that the suspect confessed that he killed her on the orders of the pastor of the church who didn’t want the public to know that Omozuwa was pregnant for him.
In reaction to the report, Omorogbe described it as false because Omozuwa was a virgin as revealed by an autopsy which also showed that she was never pregnant.
The justice commissioner said, “We were all terribly shocked to see what happened to Uwa. It was terrible; it was a brutal experience.
“We were further shocked by some of the different things we saw all over the place, particularly on social media, and that is why it is important we come here.
“For example, we saw a terrible lie being peddled on social media, not regular press, that Uwa was impregnated by her pastor. That has been refuted, though it caused serious anguish to the family members. It’s a terrible story.
“Though one cannot talk at this point, but from the autopsy done on Uwa, it was clearly established that not only was she not pregnant, she was a virgin, so, how boyfriend and pregnancy came in, only God knows.”

The Founder and General Overseer of Victory Revival Fasting and Prayer Ministry in Warri, Delta state, Bishop Elijah Orhonigbe, has been arrested and arraigned in court for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl, name withheld, within his church hall on Wednesday, May 20.
While taking the suspect to court, the commandant of the Warri Area Command, ACP Mohammed Garba, said the evidence so far collected has proven a case of rape. He said the clergyman invited the victim and her mum to church for deliverance, claiming that he saw a vision of the spirit of death hovering around their family. It was during the deliverance session that he allegedly drugged the victim and then raped her.
Garba said the clergyman went into hiding after he committed the crime but was arrested last Friday, June 5.
“She said the pastor had a dream that death is hovering in their house and for peace to reign, she should bring her daughter for prayers. And the woman took the lady to the church. I think what really happened is that the pastor drugged that lady and raped her. I personally took the lady to the hospital because she was in coma for two days.
We looked for this pastor for the past two weeks. Later on, I used my detectives to trace where he hid. I got him arrested and I am charging him to Court now.
We have evidence to prove rape and we have established that this pastor has raped that girl. We have the pictures. We have examined her. I took her to the doctor. He has examined her private parts and we have everything to charge this man to Court” Garba said, NRM learnt
He dismissed claims made by the clergyman that the police were asking him for bribe so they can drop the charges against him.
The victim on her part, said the clergyman had told her mum, Mrs Taye Edema who attends his church, to bring her for deliverance as he saw a vision that she slept with an internet fraudster, who cleaned her up with a handkerchief, with the intention to use her for ritual.
The victim said it was during the deliverance session that the accused pastor gave her olive oil to drink and some to apply on her private part before asking her to strip naked and lie down on a mat in the church.
“He started making love to me from the back. That was all I could remember. There was sperm all over my body. I shouted. He even said I should come again. I want to be the last he will do this to,” she said
The accused however denied the allegation, insisting he did not rape her
”She came to church on that fateful day, May 20. The mother brought her to the church for deliverance and I prayed for her in front of the altar in the presence of three persons. Immediately after the prayer, she left the church around 12. She came back 5 o’ clock with policemen and crowd saying ‘this is the man’. If not, I did not rape her,” he said
Commenting on the incident, the state Commissioner for Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa, said the law must be made to take its course on the matter.
“ It’s a case of rape in which the bishop drugged the girl in the pretext of deliverance, when he thereafter, raped her. All efforts to make the Police compromise on the case hit a brick wall because the law of this country is not a respecter of anyone. We remain resolute to be just in our investigation,” he said
The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has said that it will comply with the guidelines from the government in regards to the reopening of worship centers.
Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, the RCCG Head of Media and Public Relations, made this known in a statement seen below.
“From the outset of this pandemic and the attendant lockdown, our general overseer has continued to emphasise that all our churches must abide by whatever rules and regulations the government brings. We are sufficiently ready to comply with the rules.
“When we look at the issue of spacing, for instance, churches are in different categories. We are a church planting mission. We have some of our churches that are in the lower cadre in terms of the population of the congregation. Some are under 50, while some are under 100.
“So, when the rules are ready, we will adjust. Some of our megachurches, space should not be a problem; it is a matter of reducing the number of people worshipping at a time.
“In all the sermons that our general overseer has been preaching on Sundays, he has been emphasising the issue of social distancing. Once we know the details of what the government wants, we will work towards achieving it”, it read.
The founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Prophet, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin has claimed that a U.S. based COVID-19 patient, identified as Tyeisha has been healed through one of his online miracle church services.
Narrating the development in a video made available to journalists, the church said the miracle happened on 22nd May, 2020, in an interactive online service tagged “Dreams, Interpretations and Solutions (DIS).
As gathered by NobleReporters, Prophet Fufeyin received a video call from a middle-aged Californian woman, Tyeisha, who had been diagnosed with the COVID-19 disease and was being housed in a disease control isolation center.
It added that, with further conversation with the patient, Fufeyin discovered that she had developed aggravating conditions such as the inability to walk or use her legs, hence, restriction to bed and dependence on a wheelchair, dependence on supplemental oxygen through Nasal Cannula (NC) as well as constant dry cough.
“The Man of God, Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin immediately got a leading to pray and call forth the patient’s healing.
”He prayed with her, shortly and also asked her to provide a mantle for him to pray on. In minutes, and through video call, a woman who was bedridden and clinging to dear life, fully reliant on machines and assistance, took off her Nasal Cannula and began to breathe without supplemental oxygen!
“While the online congregation was still reeling in shock and singing the praises of God, Tyeisha obeyed the command of the prophet and stood up, regaining use of her legs! She walked about her room and even to the corridor, where other patients and caregivers were shocked to see her.
Tyeisha is one of millions of COVID-19 patients, and her story has been changed, miraculously, thanks to the God of Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin. Distance cannot defeat God, and neither can this pandemic,” the church narrated in the video.
A UK-based doctor identified as Idee Charles has berated popualar Nigerian Cleric and founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie over his recent comment about Coronavirus.
Pastor David Ibiyeomi had earlier claimed that there is no Coronavirus in Nigeria while stating that that the virus is just a scheme for leaders to steal.
Reacting to the claims made by the Salvation Ministries founder, Dr Idee accused him of being ignorant even though he studied microbiology in school. She accused Pastor Ibiyeomie of deceiving his gullible followers knowing fully well that the virus has killed many around the world, including her colleagues who are health officials.
Prophet TB Joshua has revealed why China is getting the attention of the world amid a growing tension between the country and the United States of America.
TB Joshua stated that China has been able to concentrate on producing things which developing nations need.
The clergyman stated this in response to threat from the US to cut ties with China over the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, America’s “concentration is on big things, China concentrates on small things, e.g. manufacturing and agricultural goods” which are “what developing nations need.”
“Remember, 70-80% of the world are developing nations. What they need to grow, to live and to improve is what China is concentrating on.
“I think America should learn this lesson. This is what they should turn to.
“China is using all these little things to get money from developing nations – and that is making them the richest in the world. It is trade by barter.
“It has made developing nations see China as their hope. For example, a product in America may cost 500 and last long, because it is durable.
“The same product in China may cost 100 but not last long. However, developing nations will still choose China’s products because such products are within their reach. That makes many nations to become debtors to China – even America
Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, has revealed that there are two different types of coronavirus.
According to him, there is the normal coronavirus with symptoms such as cough, fever, headache and so on, and a deadlier one which according to him, many people are not talking about, being suicide, murder, divorce and a change of temperament.
He went further to advice Nigerians on how to overcome COVID-19, adding that this can only be overcomed when people start changing their approach, paying less attention and stop promoting the virus.
“Let us discuss the fruit of COVID-19 that it appears the world is yet to notice. First, let’s take note that there are two COVID-19s,” he said during his live service on Sunday.
“In the first, those who tested positive to the virus have symptoms such as a cough, fever, headache, difficulty in breathing, loss of smell, etc.
“The deadlier COVID-19 is the one most people are not talking about but some of us may have seen or heard about. This is hardly mentioned – suicide, murder, divorce, a change in temperament – yet, it is the result of COVID-19.
“Many are saying, ‘I cannot eat what I want to eat. I cannot go where I want to go. I have lost my job. They are disturbing me because of debt’. This is as a result of COVID-19.
“Throat pain, cough, fever are symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, so also, this is a virus! We keep talking about one side of COVID-19; we don’t talk about the other side, which has no drug prescribed for it and is a lot deadlier.
“How do we overcome COVID-19? We can only overcome COVID-19 by changing our approach. Attention is promotion. Whatever we promote grows.
“Viewers, begin to talk less of your sickness, your situation, your pain! Talk less of demons – I mean, satan.
“Talk less of what you see as an enemy – don’t give them attention! The more attention you give them, the more power, honour you unknowingly bestow upon them.
“Talk less of your opposition and talk more of your Comforter! Talk less of your battles and talk more of the One who is fighting for you! Talk less of your warfare and talk more of the promise of victory!
“The way we talk about COVID-19 promotes it, seems to give so much recognition to it.
“If you are not talking about something, it does not mean the thing does not exist.
“Viewers, many of us are in this situation now. A lot of people have developed depression, anxiety, anger, irritation, addiction to smoking, drinking, excessive eating, they are always on their phones, watching ungodly acts — things that were not there before COVID-19.
“Yet, our attention is only on the known COVID-19, which causes coughing, fever, breathing problems, etc. This is the noise everywhere today.
“The main one that is causing our economy to run dry, causing depression in our social life, as well as divorce and suicide — that particular COVID-19 is not known.
“Man can only treat what we can see, not what we cannot see. Doctors treat; God cures. Viewers, take care of yourself. We are fighting the spirit beings that cause tension, pressure and anxiety. That is the major war now, since the battle of depression and isolation is not of drugs but spiritual.”
Pastor of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo has kicked against the bill before the House of Representatives which has been a source of controversies over its proposition on COVID-19 vaccine.
Oyedepo who spoke during a live broadcast stated that the people behind it are working on an evi which will sweep himanity.
He also questioned why rights of people who refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine will be stripped.
He said, “You must take a vaccine! Why will you force me to take a vaccine? For what?
“You don’t take vaccines, you don’t go outside the country! How? Where is it coming from?
“Evil scheming of evil men, gang up of agents of the devil, trying to bring a flood of evil upon humanity. And now from the vaccine: autism; from the vaccine: higher mortality rate of deaths.”
On his recent cry against the closure of churches, Oyedepo stated that he did it for the kingdom of God.
“It’s over!! Whatever troubles God’s agenda will be troubled. The most valuable asset to God is the human life.
“If you see me screaming and crying: it’s for the Kingdom, absolutely so. You mean you keep God’s people, block their access to spiritual food for 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 6 weeks, 7 weeks and you are going to the market, buying and eating with 10 fingers. You kept students from school.
“This is an imported virus, how has it become our own? Why must we now have it?
“There is something going on here! Something evil is being schemed by some individuals and those who are perpetrating it don’t even know,” he further stated.
Lead pastor of David Christian Centre, Kingsley Okonkwo has shared his thoughts on feminism, expressing disapproval that male and female are the same.
According to Pastor Okonkwo, while speaking in an Instagram live video disclosed that there is a difference in the way boys and girls are raised.
He said that the boys need more direction, he went on to say male and female are not the same, said he is backed by scripture, science and statistics.
He said, “Boys need a lot of direction. The way you raise boys is not how you raise girls because they are not the same.
“Male and female are not the same. We have people who argue that they are the same. I always tell people that there are 3 things that inform my teaching, scripturally tested, scientifically and statistically back.
“I don’t teach from sentiments. Many people try to build their scripture from sentiments so they start fighting back that oh feminism and all that.
“That men and women are the same. We are never the same. We have different roles,” he continued.
Scripture tells us that, science tells us that, the statistics also tell us that. But unfortunately, Satan is using offended and broken people to start those movements.
“People that, maybe they’ve grown up in homes where the fathers were abusive then they start saying ‘oh we don’t need any head in the home, men and women should be equal.’
It’s coming from a place of hurt, from a place of abuse,” he said.
“Maybe their dad was absent so they start saying ‘no woman should commit to any man.
“They are reacting based on something that has happened which we understand that what happened was bad but they should not try to change the roles and the gender because that is very important,” he added.
The General Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has called on church leaders to donate buildings to be used as isolation centres, instead of continually criticizing the government.
In a broadcast shared by the church on Sunday, Bakare revealed he has donated facilities in Lagos and Ogun, to be used.
“Those churches with multiple facilities, rather than their leaders criticizing the government, should collaborate with them.
“They must be prepared to offer some of their halls to governmental authorities as isolation centres in support of the efforts of the government,” Bakare said.
Bakare’s position is in contrast with the opinion held by the presiding bishop of Living Faith Worldwide, David Oyedepo.
Oyedepo has questioned the ban on religious gatherings amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
He claimed that the “voice of darkness” influenced the ban on gatherings in churches.
Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide has criticized the continued closure of churches due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Federal Government ordered against social gathering a to help curb the spread of coronavirus which now has over 2000 confirmed cases in Nigeria.
The decision affects churches and mosques which can contain over 50 people gathered for service.
“There is something wrong, for people to be allowed to be in the market for six hours and cannot be in church for two hours, it is an upside down way for looking at things. Which one is more orderly? The market or the church?
“I can smell a rat. The Lord spoke to me on it strongly on it yesterday. I can smell a rat behind all this. It is how do we stop the church from exploding.
“The voice of darkness are influencing people at various levels targeting the church because the growth and expansion of the church is the greatest headache of the devil. But the gates of hell shall not prevail. The devil and his agents shall surely pay for this.
“I don’t know what hospital that records the kind of healings that the church of God records. And now hospitals where people die everyday is open but the church is closed.” the Bishop stated.
