COVID-19: I need N1 billion to fight coronavirus – Obiano tells Buhari. (Nigeria)


Though Anambra currently has no confirmed case of Coronavirus, the State governor, Willie Obiano has applied to the Federal Government for the sum of N1bn to secure his state against COVID-19 spread.

Obiano said Anambra had opened a special account for donations towards preventing coronavirus from spreading into the state, which currently has zero record of COVID-19.


In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C-Don Adinuba, the governor said the steps were in line with the state’s resolve to ensure it remained free of the disease.

He urged the Federal Government to avail the state N1bn to help it to sustain the zero record because of the strategic nature of Anambra State people in commerce and industry.


The statement read in part, “Governor Obiano, therefore, considers it imperative that the Federal Government provides at least N1bn to Anambra, which is at risk in view of the multitude of people in its numerous markets and the peripatetic nature of the people who have been helping in the rapid development of all parts of Nigeria.

“Besides, we have as many as 63 major markets in the state, including the Onitsha main market, which is the largest market in West Africa.


“The markets are always full of millions of people from different countries in West and Central Africa, thereby making our people vulnerable to the contagion.

“The Anambra State Government would like to use this opportunity to announce the creation of a special account to assist ndi Anambra grapple with the grave challenges of the coronavirus.

“Known as the Anambra State COVID- 19 account, it is in response to various inquiries from people of Anambra State origin in different parts of Nigeria and beyond who have been seeking ways to assist their people since the viral disease outbreak.”

Adinuba said the account, which was domiciled in a new generation bank, would be administered by Obiano as the Chairman of Anambra COVID-19 Task Force, to ensure absolute transparency and accountability.”

Gov. Obiano dedicates new NYSC permanent orientation camp in Anambra


Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano has commissioned the new Permanent Orientation Camp for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Mbaukwu-Umuawulu, in Awka South Local Government Area.

According to the governor, apart from accomodating the corps members, the camp can generate about three hundred direct jobs and over one thousand indirect jobs.

“The orientation camp is expected to cater to 300 direct jobs and over 1,000 indirect jobs. That is the essence of our investments in this project apart from the fact that it will be a comfortable place to put together men and women who are serving their fatherland for a mandatory period of one year. My advice to all of you is to an effective participant in this programme,” he said.

On his part, the Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr Sunday Dare praised the governor for his administration’s support to the scheme.

The Minister noted that Obiano “is making the best investment in our youths, those of the ground here and the youths of Anambra who are in different skill acquisition centres.”

Speaking also, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mr Kehinde Aremu, confirmed the clean health status of all corps members.

He noted that prior to the commencement of the Orientation Course for the Batch A, Stream II corps members, mandatory Coronavirus (COVID-19) tests were carried out for all participants.

Aremu also reiterated the commission’s commitment to safeguarding the health status of all corps members and others involved in the scheme.

Shocker: Gov. Obiano always interested in my female staff – Charly boy


Charly Boy has called out Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, days after he was honored as a knight commander of the pontifical Order of St Gregory the Great (KCSG) at the Vatican by Pope Francis.

The Nigerian entertainer who described Governor Willie Obiano as loud, pompous and braggadocios, alleged that Willie Obiano seemed more intrested in his female workers than the buisness of the youths in Igbo land.

He further disclosed that he gave Governor Willie Obiano a long rope after realizing that their meetings were not fruitful.

Charly Boy wrote;

“Willy is loud, most times pompous and braggadocios. His own possen no be here. I went to him a few times since he became governor to know what we can do with the youths in Anambra state and Infact Igbo land, but Willy wasn’t so interested in working with us. He bragged of how he has all areas covered and seemed more interested in my female workers than the business of the youths. Willy like nyash no be here.

I stopped calling or reaching out to him, because our meetings no dey yield any action for the street people. So I just give am long rope, as an Emperor concern. You can imagine my surprise when I was called by Willy all the way from Rome. As usual, e no waste time to start to blow his trumpet again. He was excited as he bored me shitless with the story of his knighthood by the Pope.

In his words, it is to be the highest honor bestowed on an African he claimed. Haba, Willy, which kin lie be dat naa?

Justice Oputa received his knighthood from the Pope too, and guess what? the gentleman didn’t lobby for it sam sam.

Group – Provide Governor Willie Obiano’s Successor …

Anambra South People’s Assembly, a social platform with the objective to unite, harness and project the interest of the constituents in the zone has called on all Anambra people to allow Governor Willie Obiano’s successor emerge from Anambra South in 2021.

The group made up of academics, technocrats, business guru and professionals including Dr E.Q. Okolie, a lawyer as chairman; Professor Donald Okoli, director of administration and Prince Isaac Onuka, executive director insisted in a statement signed by the stakeholders that equity, justice and fairness demanded that Governor Obiano’s successor must come from Anambra South to justify a zoning arrangement enunciated by former Governor Peter Obi.

“Anambra State was created on February 03, 1976, when the East Central State was divided into Anambra and Imo States. Anambra was further divided in 1991 to produce Enugu and the present New Anambra State. The New Anambra State has three senatorial zones which include Anambra South, Anambra North and Anambra Central.
