Eye witness alleged that four persons that were arrested during the operation are members of the IPOB group.

They also informed newsmen that the shrine serves as a protective camp for IPOB, and others have also be discovered.

The spokesman of DSS, Peter Afunanya, did not make any comment on the operation.

The quest of who becomes the next president of the most populous African nation is still much talked about.

Names like Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal are strongly linked to the 2023 presidential election, with some of the names aforementioned having contested at the last Presidential Election at primary level.

Hours after the number one citizen of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari hosted Governor Umahi of Ebonyi State who recently defected to the ruling All Progressive Party.

President Muhammadu Buhari hosted newly defected member, Gov. David Umahi, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Peter Obi, Nasir el-Rufai, Rabiu Kwankwasor, Aminu Tambuwal and Abubakar Atiku.

Nnamdi Kanu took to his official Twitter handle @MaziNnamdiKanu to air his view about the Southern Presidency ambition. Nnamdi Kanu feels that there won’t be a shift of power come 2023 because the Northerners are much more politically oriented than Southerners.

Top Story: FG expose Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB.

Advertisements

The Nigerian Presidency has alerted the international community to the misleading campaign spearheaded by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), using false allegations of persecution of Christians against the Nigerian State.

The Presidency, according to statement issued by Malam Garba Shehu said it has uncovered two, interconnected campaigns being run concurrently by the IPOB in this regard.

Government said it became aware of the campaigns via an investigation by one of its agencies working with international partners.

“Both (campaigns) are using the cover of Christianity – and calling for a US Special Envoy to be appointed to stop the “genocide” of Christians in Nigeria.

Advertisements

“But the real purpose is to drive a wedge between the Nigeria government and its US and UK/European allies”, the government said..

“IPOB leadership of course self-proclaims as “Jewish,” a position not shared by the generality of the members.

Advertisements

“For reasons of convenience, he(Nnamdi Kanu) claims to have an interest in the welfare of Christians – but this is a ruse: the case for independence, the leader believes, is strengthened by “proving” the government of Nigeria is “autocratic”, engaged in a “silent slaughter” of their own citizens along religion and ethnic lines – and that therefore the only viable option for the unique religious and ethnic minority is a sovereign Biafra separate from Nigeria.

“Nigerians and the international community are advised to be wary of this divisive campaign, which available evidence shows is being funded with a monthly spending of $85,000 USD since October 2019, with no records of the source of this largesse.

Advertisements

“The campaign consists of producing articles in the names of the alleged Christian NGOs’ leaders (of campaign groups created at the time this PR contract with a US lobbying firm was signed) and letters to and from members of Congress to the White House.

“Unfortunately, some Members of Congress have clearly been persuaded there is indeed a “Christian persecution” underway in Nigeria – and do so quoting the campaign – and they are known to be taking up the case directly with the White House to appoint the special envoy.

Advertisements

“The American charity secured a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and has made presentations to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom.

“There is also a UK and European angle of the Campaign, which is more opaque than its US sister campaign – given there is less legal requirement for public filings – but what is known of this at the moment is that their Budget is sufficient to hire four PR firms in the UK, Belgium, France and the US (the latter additional to the above).

Advertisements

“They have founded an “NGO/Charity” and a linked web-based campaign named “Stop the Silent Slaughter” which is well designed and complete with video “evidence”-completely concocted.

“Members of the alleged Christian NGO have had multiple Op-Ed articles in conservative news websites promulgating their message of a “Christian Genocide”. Some of those articles have also been used as “evidence” in the sister US campaign.

Advertisements

“Two of those conservative news websites were co-founded by the owner of the UK PR firm they have hired to generate their publicity as well as an OP-Ed article in the name of a British MP who may have been convinced by their campaign under false pretences.

“They have secured additional coverage in France, EU and Germany.

Advertisements

“They secured a MPs debate on the “Christian Genocide” in the House of Commons in which staff member of the UK PR was referenced as the “private secretary” to the leader of the UK-based Charity.

“It is clear from all of the above that the IPOB’s extraordinarily and dubiously well-funded campaign in the US and UK/Europe is misusing the issue of the welfare of Christians purely to further their own political ends, and it seeks to damage inter-religious dialogue in Nigeria as well as to damage the international reputation of Nigeria.

Advertisements

“Nigerians and the international community are hereby advised to ignore this campaign as they have disregarded similar past campaigns originated by this group which has been designated as a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian State.

“International groups and societies are welcome to send representatives to Nigeria and give a lie to the false claims made by these terrorist groups who are duping them of their money and involving them in conduct and activities disguised to destroy the harmonious relationships existing between their home countries and Nigeria.”

Just in: Aisha Buhari Chase Garba Shehu Out Of Aso Rock – Kanu Allege. [Nigeria]

Advertisements

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has claimed that First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has chased Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity out of Aso Rock.

In a similar claim, Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan had said Garba Shehu was not briefed about the appointment of a new Chief of Staff because he is now perceived as the head of the late Kyari’s ‘Cabal’ and has now become an enemy to Buhari’s wife, Aisha.

Recall that when Media contacted Shehu to confirm the appointment of Ibrahim Gambari, on Tuesday, he said he had not been briefed about the appointment.

Aisha Buhari had late last year claimed that Garba Shehu was no longer loyal to her husband, adding that the presidential aide had shifted his loyalty to a close relative of Buhari, Mamman Daura, who she accused of issuing a presidential directive behind the President.

Aisha had alleged that Daura was issuing directives to Garba Shehu, not to recognize her office.

Amid reports that President Muhammadu Buhari will announce his new Chief of Staff later today(Wednesday), Kanu said that Aisha has already chased Shehu out of the Presidential Villa and this now compels him to wear visitor’s tag.

“Now she is the Boss! Garba Shehu chased out of The Villa and made to wear visitor’s tag when visiting,” Kanu said on Facebook.

[Nigeria] Kanu Sends Message To Jonathan, Warns Buhari.

Advertisements

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has advised ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to challenge the allegations against him by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Kanu said this on Thursday while reacting to moves by Buhari administration to subpoena bank records of Jonathan and his wife, Patience.

The IPOB leader warned that his group would no longer tolerate the intimidation and harassment of former President Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience.

IPOB also said those who were calling for the accounts of Dr Jonathan and his wife were the real people looting funds in Nigeria.

Advertisements

Kanu urged Jonathan to abandon his ‘gentleman toga’ and confront the government headlong.

He said: “They are now pursuing former President Goodluck Jonathan after looting the country and are now shopping for loans from lending agencies. They have not given the account of the N13.9 billion meant for Aso Rock clinic, yet the same people are asking for the account of a former president and his wife to disgrace them and make them scapegoats in their misrule.

“They are also pursuing Mrs. Diezani Madueke because they want to divert attention of Nigerians and the world from their incompetence and looting, but they have not responded to the allegation of looting of N13.9 billion meant for Aso Rock clinic which alarm was raised by the wife of their president against the cabal in the government.

“We in IPOB are warning them to leave former President Jonathan and his wife, Patience, alone.

“You may toy with Jonathan because he allowed you to do that to him, but do not toy with Patience, otherwise we will bring down Nigeria.

“We are surprised that PANDEF and Ohanaeze Ndigbo have all kept quiet to this renewed attack on Jonathan.

“It is high time Dr Jonathan dropped his gentleman’s toga and defend himself, his wife and family members.”

Meanwhile, Jonathan had in a statement by his Spokesman, Ikechikwu Eze clarified that he has no account or property abroad.

The Separatist group also explained that the match would help liberate victims of “neo-colonial subjugation in Nigeria.”

According to the statement: “We the global and indomitable family of Indigenous Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to humbly notify Biafrans, friends of Biafra, persecuted Judeo-Christian communities in Nigeria, victims of Fulani terrorism and state-sponsored genocide, including all who are reeling from brutal Fulanisation and genocidal land grabbing tendencies of the vandals from the Sahel aided by the regime in Aso Rock- about the upcoming IPOB One Million Man Match scheduled to hold in Washington DC on 20th of June 2020.

“Our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his entourage will lead this march of Biafrans, the forcefully dispossessed, all victims of Fulani religious persecution, the enslaved and oppressed minorities in Northern Nigeria, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom all over the world on the match towards the liberation of victims of neo-colonial subjugation in Nigeria on that fateful day near Capitol Hill Washington USA.

Feb’14: Kanu didn’t attend parent’s funeral; accused police of arresting IPOB members

Although IPOB members didn’t show up at the ceremony in their uniform, they praised Kanu and chanted pro-Biafra songs.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has accused Nigerian police and soldiers of arresting members of the group heading to his parents burial on Friday, February 14, 2020.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Kanu said the mourners were accosted on their way to the burial and intercepted in three coaster buses on Enugu-Port-Harcourt expressway.

Earlier, the Abia State Police Command had warned IPOB members against attending the burial, but members of the group defied the police order on Friday, as many of them attended the burial ceremony in Afaraukwu.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon, had warned that the police would not allow miscreants disguising as IPOB members to hijack the burial, adding that the group members won’t be allowed to display Biafran flag and other insignia.

Kanu’s parents, Israel Kanu and wife, Sally, were laid to rest at Isiama Afaraukwu in the Umuahia North Local Government Area of the state.

According to Punch, riot police and other security agents closely monitored the burial process.

Although IPOB members didn’t show up at the ceremony in their uniform, they praised Kanu and chanted pro-Biafra songs.

A member of the group, identified as Maduka Okeke, who spoke to Punch said no amount of threat could stop them from paying their last respect to Kanu’s parents by attending their burial.

He said, “We didn’t come in our uniforms because we are mourning and in the Igbo culture we have a dress code for burials.”

Kanu’s father, died at 85 while his wife, Sally, died at 67.

The former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi; Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and Senator Victor Umeh were among the dignitaries that attended the burial ceremony.

Traditional rulers call Nnamdi Kanu, Hero

The traditional ruler of Nibo, Anambra State, Eze Oploka of Nibo, has described the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, as a hero.

The royal father said this while speaking with our correspondent at the ongoing burial ceremony, Israel Okwu Kanu and his wife, Ugoeze Meme Sally, the late parents of Nnamdi Kanu.

He described the late Monarch as a family man who gave birth to children with reputable character.

“His Royal Majesty, Kanu, was a man of reputable character. There was peace in the town during his tenure of ruling. That is why everything is moving smoothly, as you can see for yourself.

“He gave birth to children of reputable character, like Nnamdi Kanu we are all talking about. He is a hero in the whole world.

“Now, he is speaking seriously about Biafra, which we all know has been in existence for over 50 years. Now, it’s surfacing. What God has built, no hand cam destroy it.”

Eze Oploka noted that the struggle for the actualisation of Biafra claimed the life of the departed king.

“The Eze as we know him, he didn’t die young, although the talk about Biafra took his life and that of his wife.

“He was a family man and his children are highly intelligent. That is why you see Nnamdi Kanu pulling weight all over the world with the truth. All he is saying is nothing but the truth.

“That is why we the kings came to pay him the last respect, and we pray that wherever he is, he will remain ever in green memory, and he cannot be forgotten. While he was alive, he brought peace to this town,” he said.

CP Okon seeking promotion over plotting to arrest Kanu – IPOB claims

…Nnamdi kanu warns CP Okon, Buratai against any casualty

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has decried the “threats” and “utterances” against the group by the Abia state Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon, in regard to the slated burial of Nnamdi Kanu’s parents, saying that the police chief is taking advantage of the situation to advance his career.

The publicity secretary of the Igbo separatist group, Emma Powerful, made the claim in a statement he made available to reporters in Owerri.

According to Powerful, “It is now crystal clear to the general public that this caliphate servant in Nigeria Police uniform named CP Okon supposedly in charge of Abia Police Command in Umuahia Abia state wants to use the name of our most revered leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and indomitable IPOB worldwide to be noticed as the Fulani slave of the month.

“Last month it was Hope Uzodinma in Imo state, this month it is the turn of Abia in the person of this Mr Okon. He is given to making these irrelevant statements in order to advance his unremarkable career as the obedient servant of the caliphate the same way other equally misguided slaves in his position did before him. He and his masters in Arewa arid lands of the North should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for threatening people attending a funeral service.

“CP Okon is expecting his slave masters to reward him the rank of AIG after the burial of our leader’s parents which we can assure him he will never get,” Powerful stated.

The group’s spokesman maintained that the supposed abuses by security agencies on Kanu’s home town “can only obtain in Biafraland where socio-cultural and political leadership are in the hands of unrepentant traitors.

“Will a commissioner of police make such a ridiculous statement in the Sharia north. Not even during the burial ceremony of countless murderous Fulani terrorists in the north did any police commissioner find it worthy to warn mourners not to attend a funeral service.”

He continued: “In the sad history of Nigeria, never has there been an edict or warning issued against those mourning the passing of loved ones only now in Abia state.”

Powerful vowed that the group will not relent if any of its members are wounded or killed.

Powerful recounted: “As our leader expressly pronounced during his radio address on Saturday 8 February 2020, should any shot be fired in and around Afaraukwu on Friday 14 February 2020, the family and children of CP Okon will be hunted down and killed.

“If Buratai is involved through his cowardly army that ran away from Boko Haram in the north with their tails between their legs, is found culpable his children will also pay the price anywhere they are in the world. We say enough is enough,” the separatists warned.

Powerful said he was not surprised at the Abia CP’s supposed threats because, according to him, others before him had done a similar thing but still could not subdue the group.

“Before this Okon came, there were other loud-mouthed southern police commissioners in Abia that sought to impress their Alimajiri masters by making unedifying and unguarded utterances against our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the indomitable IPOB family.

“The same way they sunk into oblivion is exactly the same way this talkative imp will be quickly consigned to the scrapheap of used and discarded unthinking caliphate servants from the south. He is not the first and neither will he be the last. We wonder why these slaves to the Fulani people and their Caliphate in Sokoto reason negatively always.

“IPOB is not in the business of responding to incompetent lowly ranked officers of a failed, shameless, uncivilised and discredited colonial disgrace like Nigeria.

“IPOB is an international movement currently engaged in international diplomacy to drive home the need to put the long-suffering ethnic nationalities the British herded together into their failed experiment in Nigeria out of the primitive stranglehold of the eternally backward Arewa core north.

The group has however promised to involved other world leaders to bear witness to the activities of Nigeria security agencies during the burial.

“These inconsequential and roundly incompetent local police and military operatives blabbing away from a poorly maintained office in a dilapidated building in Umuahia and Ohafia is not worthy of an intelligent response from the great IPOB.

“We shall as always peacefully attend the burial of His Royal Majesty and his wife and should Nigerian army and police attempt to breach the peace, the world will bear us witness.

“However it is important we inform the Fulani masters of this Okon and those parading themselves as military officers in Afaraukwu Umuahia to beware because they cannot stop IPOB from coming to the burial of our leader’s parents on 14th of February, next week Friday.

“Biafra is resonating all over the world today especially thanks to our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB family worldwide. All the years of threats and brutal crackdowns on IPOB have all resulted in making IPOB more defiant, determined and ruthless in our pursuit of the noble goal of Biafra liberation.

“If the military might of the Alimajiri Nigerian North, a grand conspiracy of the judiciary and mind-numbing treachery of Igbo governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo, could not stop IPOB, how much less an unknown Fulani boy-boy and servant in police uniform in Umuahia,” Powerful boasted.

Kanu’s parent burial unstoppable – IPOB dares

…funeral, February 14

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), yesterday, boasted that the army would not hinder it from conducting the burial ceremony of parents of Nnamdi Kanu, slated for February 14.

IPOB’s spokesman, Mr. Emma Powerful, in a statement in Owerri, berated the army for abandoning their core duty of fighting in the warfront and defending the nation to harassing, humiliating and intimidating indigenes of Kanu’s Afaraukwu community in Umuahia-Ibeku, Abia State.

“We wish to notify the world that preparations for the burial of our leader’s parents is going ahead as planned. The Army is wasting its time and valuable resources trying to stop something they know they are incapable of stopping. Burial of the dead is a right older than man itself. How can the government of Nigeria justify the deployment of soldiers to the venue of a funeral while terrorists are busy making the lives of law abiding citizens a misery. What Buratai and his soldiers are doing in Umuahia is no different from what terrorists are doing in the North East. They invade peaceful communities, killing, pillaging, destroying and kidnapping people at will. We continue to draw attention of the civilised world to the incessant harassment, humiliation, intimidation of Afaraukwu community in Umuahia-Ibeku by the very lazy and shameless Nigerian army, whose stock in trade is to terrorise innocent civilians.

“Nigerian government and her soldiers are shameless and downright disgraceful and their refusal to confront armed Fulani insurgency and Boko Haram menace in the north, but instead chose to focus their attention on a burial ceremony in Afaraukwu is indicative of the misplaced priorities at the heart of this APC regime which has directly led to the deterioration of security situation across Nigeria.

“Boko Haram, Fulani herdsmen, Miyetti Allah Bandits, ISIS in West Africa, Al-Qaeda in the Mhagreb are dutifully waiting for Buratai and his warriors to engage them in battle in the north. That is the real security problem facing Nigeria, not the burial of His Royal Majesty Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and his wife…

“One thing is certain, come 14 February, the parents of our leader will be laid to rest. APC regime, Nigerian Army and their badly informed supporters cannot stop IPOB from restoring the sovereign state of Biafra within the shortest possible time by the grace of God,” Powerful said.

Buhari has elevated Niger Delta region..

The Presidency yesterday presented a long list of the areas the Muhammadu Buhari administration has touched in the Niger Delta region.

It showed how the administration elevated the region and the progress it made in the Ogoni clean-up.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, said the administration’s New Vision for the Niger Delta region had made progress in various areas of the region’s developmental programme.

These, it said, include reorganisation in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Eastern ports’ development and other areas.

The Presidency said the progress report on the Niger Delta New Vision indicated clearly that “since the Ogoni clean-up commenced in January 2019, with 16 contractors moving to site, 21 sites have so far been handed over to contractors by Hydrocarbon Pollution Restoration Project (HYPREP) under the Federal Ministry of Environment”.

It added: “This is besides the commencement of the Maritime University in Delta State, now on full steam with over 1,000 students spread across 13 undergraduate courses in three faculties and the progress made in the establishment of modular refineries, including the Niger Delta Resources Refinery (NDPR), which has now moved from 1,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 6,000 bpd a couple of weeks ago.

“There are altogether six modular refineries currently at different stages of completion in the six Niger Delta states of Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River and Imo.”

Giving details on the Ogoni clean-up, the statement said: “The 21 sites where remediation works are ongoing are located in four of the local government areas in Ogoni land, namely: Eleme, Tai, Khana and Gokana.”

The Presidency said the Buhari administration had received local and international commendations on the Ogoni clean-up.

The 2011 United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report on Ogoni land, devastated by decades of oil spills, was not implemented until June 2016, when the Buhari administration kick-started its implementation.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo kick-started the clean-up in the region.

The Presidency said: “The commitment of the Buhari administration to the Ogoni clean-up has received several local and international endorsements with visits to the sites by the Dutch Ambassador, British Deputy High Commissioner, U.S Ambassador, German Ambassador, Norwegian Ambassador, UNEP team, among others, all attesting to the progress being recorded in the clean-up.”

Giving an insight into the progress report, the statement quoted many of those who have attested to the good job on the clean-up.

“I can see that work is ongoing and hopefully it will produce results soon,” the Netherlands Ambassador to Nigeria, Marion Kappeyne Van de Coppello, said in August 2019 when she visited one of the sites in Ebube community, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

“Also, during an inspection visit, the UNEP team leader, Mr. Mike Cowing, said the re-engagement of the UNEP team for the Ogoni clean-up shows the commitment of the Federal Government to effectively implement the UNEP Report.
