What Mahrez Told Ndidi After AFCON Win Vs Nigeria, Leicester Ace Has Not Spoken To Kante

Riyad Mahrez was honest in his assessment of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal tie between Algeria and Nigeria in which the North Africans earned a narrow 2-1 win thanks to a sublime free-kick curled in by the Manchester City star from just outside the box in the last minute of stoppage time.

With extra time looming, the tricky Algeria winger believed that the Super Eagles would have won the game because they were the fitter of the two sides.

Speaking to ESPN journalist Colin Udoh via Instagram, Ndidi stated : “I don’t want to think about it.

Riyad was honest, he said they were tired and if we had gone into extra time the game would have gone in our favour because we are strong.

“Riyad is one player I respect, he’s not strong, you can hardly get the ball from Riyad, he is very tricky.

” Ndidi was acquired by Leicester City from Racing Genk in January 2017 as a replacement for N’Gole Kante who joined Chelsea few months earlier and the Nigerian has claimed that he has not spoken to the French World Cup winner since his arrival at the King Power Stadium.

“I don’t know him (Kante).

When I came he was not here so it’s not something for me to do.

If you talk about Riyad, yes.

” With the exception of the 2-0 to defeat to Madagascar in the group stage, Ndidi went the distance in all the matches played by the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt last summer.

Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi is now Nigeria’s most expensive player in the English premier league according to statistics published in a new report.

Ndidi who has been in a rich vein from this season with 2 goals in 16 appearances is being courted by Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, which has seen his value rise from €35 million to €45 million (approximately N17.73 billion in Nigerian currency ) according to financial experts from transfermarkt.de .

Ndidi, born in 1996, is ranked number 53 most expensive player among all the players in the Premier League, has a global ranking of 131, is the fourth most expensive Leicester City player and is the 10th most expensive defensive midfielder in the world according to the new rankings.

In second place is Alex Iwobi valued €32 million, third place is Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City), fourth place Isaac Success of Watford and fifth place Leon Balogun of Brighton valued at €12m, €4m and €1.5m respectively.

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi celebrated his 100th Premier league appearance on Saturday.

The Leicester City ace who has since become a must play for the club, was happy that the milestone event ended on a clean sheet plus a victory.

The Foxes enjoyed grabbed a 2-0 win over hosts Brighton on Saturday with Ndidi in action for the entire duration of the match as usual. The 22 year old who joined Leicester City from Genk in 2017 expressed his delight over the achievement

“Happy to get a win and clean sheet on my 100th premier league appearance,” he enthused shortly after the Brighton versus.

Ndidi who made 61 appearances for Belgian side Genk scoring four goals before joining Leicester City, has not only made 100 appearances but has also contributed to six of the goals scored by the club

Ndidi who was part of Super Eagles squad that tamed both the Squirrels of Benin Republic and Crocodiles of Lesotho in the 2021 Nations Cup qualifiers has though his performance become a regular for both club and country.

The former junior international who called into the senior national team in 2015, has since made about 35 appearances for the Super Eagles.

Ndidi and his teammates will next host Everton where he and compatriot Alex Iwobi will put aside their cooperation in the Super Eagles to play in the opposing sides for the good of their clubs.


CAF: Osihmen, Ndidi, Ighalo Among 30-Men Best African Player Of The Year Nominee..

Nigerian superstars, Wilfred Ndidi, Odion Ighalo and Victor Osihmen have been nominated for the 2019 African Player of the Year Award by Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The three Nigerian stars who play for Lecister City, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and Lille respectively, were shortlised alongside 27 African footballers including the previous winner, Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Liverpool for the award.

Ndidi, Ighalo, and Osimhen shortlisted in 30-man list for 2019 African Player of the Year Award

For the CAF Youth Player of the Year 2019 nominees, Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze and striker Victor Osimhen also made the shortlist.
