President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has congratulated Nigerian journalists and all the stakeholders in the profession as they join their colleagues all over the globe to mark this year’s World Press Freedom Day.

Lawan noted that the day is specially set aside to highlight the heroic contributions of journalists to human struggle for justice, peace and development.

Keep Quiet Or I Will Tell The World Your Son’s True Father – Kemi Olunloyo Slam Busola Dakolo

Something amusingly shocking is about to happen as Kemi Olunloyo fired up at Timi Dakolo and Busola Dakolo.

Controversial Journalist, Kemi Olunloyo is spitting fire again and this time it is not directed to Davido and Chioma but to Timi Dakolo and his wife Busola.

She took to her Instagram page to call out Busola based on an interview she granted to Journalist, Azuka Ogujiuba, publisher of Media Room Hub where she said Busola kept mentioning her name during the interview.

Well, this didn’t go well with Kemi Olunloyo and she didn’t hesitate to call her out while also exposing more shady things about Busola Dakolo and her rape case against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. She accused her of not being a virgin when she married Timi and that the paternity of her first son with Timi is still questionable.

Recall that last year, Busola accused Pastor Fatoyinbo of raping her as a young girl and this generated a lot of raucous on social media. Some believed her while a lot of people doubted her story saying there were a lot of half-truths in it.

Well, Kemi felt provoked by Busola because she mentioned her name in a recent interview she granted and decided to expose more things about her.

See her rant here:

Busola Dakolo next time you do an interview, keep my name off your mouth. @azukaogujiuba when you called me, you could have told me straight up you were doing a feature on the Dakolos rather than ask me random questions about the case. We are both media professionals and I felt baited. Busola YOU ARE out there secretly begging CAN pastors to facilitate YOUR apology to Fatoyinbo for LYING that he raped you 20 yrs ago when the baby or the car didn’t exist later being allowed to change rape dates on police documents as another Journalist caught you doing courtesy of the Bayelsa top cop in Abuja from Timi’s village. You had no idea that you divided the Christian Association of Nigeria and like the judge in your frivolous lawsuit said; you INJURED a pastor and his congregation. I’m still yet to meet or speak to Pastor Fatoyinbo. Tell the world how I intercepted your sympathy GoFundMe which you would have used to cash in on Nigerians. If I ever ever hear my name in your mouth again, I will SUE YOU FOR N500M and Timi makes 10M per weekend. Don’t try me! You are a liar, cheat and fraud who was blackmailed by your own husband based on the paternity of your oldest son Timi denied when you were working at Zenith HQ. I don’t play around with LCF’s madam photographer giving fake awareness to rape. Your global exposure in foreign newspapers using Nigerian correspondents of those platforms failed. Women like you are a DISGRACE to womanhood. You were clearly standing in front of me exactly 6-7yrs ago Valentine’s 2013 and your husband 2014 when your husband professed to me he married you as a virgin. I have audios and have not posted them because the criminal case hasn’t ended while you are trying to forcefully end it. Disgusting liars.

Kemi Olunloyo’s Son Call Her Out – Says, She Flirt With Random Guys

Controversial Nigerian social media personality and journalist, Kemi Olunloyo has been called out by her son Enitan Robert as he turns 33.

Enitan took to his Instagram page to share a lengthy post about what he called his “deep story.”

According to Enitan’s post, Kemi is now his ‘former biological mother’ and she has stopped wishing him a happy birthday after they had a falling out over the phone a year ago.

He alleges that their fight was about Kemi “telling these filthy nasty Nigerians to wish me a happy birthday.” He goes on t say he does not know these people personally and he wishes she would have kept “her big trap shut.”

Enitan then launches into his mother’s controversial life talking about how she “tells lies on everyone, especially she had no compassion, love, respect and no nothing.”

His post also accuses Kemi of using him and his siblings as “pawns in her game to get what she wants.” Enitan adds that she does evil things and hurts people, himself included because everyone wants to be her friend.

He hits heavy on his mother when he alleges that she “loves to be a whore just to sleep around with random dudes so she can get pregnant.” He says this includes his younger days.

His accusations do not end there as he also accuses his mother of sending him to Nigeria to feel trapped so they can kill him.

He concludes his post by saying he is still here and nothing can tear him down as long as he moves on with his life because God will protect him.

Interestingly, when Enitan turned 30, Kemi took to Instagram to admonish single mothers. She wrote:

“30 years ago today, I had my first child. I raised him alone and made it. To all the single moms out there, success is possible so better learn from me. Happy 30th birthday ?Enitan Robert. February 17th 1987”.

In the past, there has been a controversy concerning Kemi’s children. Tokunbo Aboderin who was called a family member claimed she was related to the Olunloyo’s and she knew the true story behind Kemi’s children,

Aboderin alleged that Kemi’s children were fathered by her father Omololu, ex-governor of Oyo state, emphasising that Olunloyo is mentally imbalanced.

Aboderin further revealed that Kemi’s children were taken away from her in the United States (US) because she harasses them and has not seen the children ever since.

In her response, Kemi said she found the story funny and slammed Aboderin as an attention seeker who her father slept with and dumped in the ’70s.

Update: Agba Jalingo pleaded before new judge

The incarcerated publisher of Cross River Watch, Agba Jalingo, who is facing terrorism charge is to appear before a High Court on Thursday.

According to reports, Agba is to appear before a new Federal High court Judge, Justice Sule Shuaibu and expected to take a fresh plea on the four-count charge preferred against him.

Counsel to the accused, Daniel Kip said he hopes to move a motion for his bail on the same day. The accused has been incarcerated for 172 days for alleged acts of terrorism and cybercrime following an article he wrote in July 2019 seeking accountability for half a billion Naira alleged to have been diverted by the Cross River State government.

The former trial judge, Justice Simon Amobeda of the federal high court two who had recused himself from the case had denied granting the accused bail but ordered for a secret trial.

Cross Rivers’ Gov behind Agba Jalingo’s ordeal – Lawyer

Lawyer representing Agba Jalingo, journalist being prosecuted for raising questions about the whereabouts of N500m earmarked for the establishment of Cross River Microfinance Bank by Governor Ben Ayade, Daniel Kip, has said that the state government is responsible for the trial of the journalist.

He said, “There is no way anybody can run away from the fact that Agba Jalingo’s ordeal is strictly tied to Cross River State and not the Federal Government.

“The amendment that was done subsequently to the charge to make it Federal Republic of Nigeria against Agba Jalingo was just to escape that impression which was glaring. It was to make it seem that it was the Federal Government that was prosecuting Agba Jalingo.

“If it was the Federal Government that was prosecuting Agba Jalingo, why wasn’t the Attorney-General of the Federation prosecuting him? Why were legal officers from the office of the Inspector-General of Police not prosecuting him? It is an irrefutable fact that the government of Cross River State is involved in Agba Jalingo’s ordeal.

“If you read one of the counts preferred against him, it is that he made an allegation against the governor of Cross River State in relation to about N500m channelled towards a microfinance bank. Was that allegation made against the Federal Government?

“To me, the inclusion of the counts in relation to Omoyele Sowore and the RevolutionNow protests that were planned in other places was just to deviate from the actual substance of why Agba Jalingo is being prosecuted. “He is being prosecuted in Cross River State because he has been questioning a lot of executive actions taken by the government of Cross River State. This trial is to intimidate him so that he can keep quiet.”

Agba Jalingo’s case rested till Friday as he was no where to be found

Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service has failed to produce detained journalist, Agba Jalingo, in court prompting the adjournment of the case.

Jalingo, who was charged with terrorism and cybercrime, was billed to appear before Justice Simon Amobeda, who presides over Court 2 of the Calabar division of the Federal High Court after 55 days of no activity on his matter.

A lawyer in his defense team, James Ibor, explained to journalists that it was due to an administrative issue as his production warrant was not signed.

He said, “The court had earlier notified us that they are ready to hear our application today and we were in court for to be heared but unfortunately, being a criminal trial, Agba Jalingo was not produced. So, the Court has made an order that the prisons should produce him on Friday and with that order, I am very optimistic that Agba Jalingo will be produced on Friday for the purpose of taking our application.”

Justice Amobeda had in December granted the prayers of the defendant for the provision of an electronic verbatim recorder before also recusing himself.

But Ibor said that having waited for so long and the provision of the EVR not forthcoming, the defense had to file a motion to vary the order of Justice Amobeda.

He added, “We have applied to the court to vary its order for verbatim electronic recording. The reason is because the process of procuring those equipment, I think, will take a lot of time. The court has ordered that the Federal Government to provide the verbatim electronic devices to its court to enable them record proceedings verbatim.

“But unfortunately, the process of procuring that or installing that may take a long time. I am not speaking for the Federal High Court but I am speculating that it is over a month since the order was made and it has not been provided and it may take quite a long time to do so knowing the way things work in this country.

“So, we don’t want to wait. We are confident that the court will give us justice and that is why we want to make use of the longhand, archaic, backward, handwritten recording for now, pending when the Federal Government will do the needful.”

Also, a twist in the case showed that the Cross River State Government may take over the case by the next court date.

When asked to explain whether that was possible and the reason for it, Ibor averred that, “It will be difficult to answer for the Attorney-General of the Federation taking over the matter or the Attorney-General of Cross River State taking over the matter.

“Constitutionally, it is their duty, it is their right to take over or discontinue any trial or prosecution anywhere in Nigeria. I am not in a better position to answer that.

“The matter will not be transferred to a state High Court. They are federal offenses and the matter will remain in the Federal High Court and we are very optimistic we will get justice.”

Cop behind Ogbu’s death should be penalized – Journalists

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, Federal Capital Territory Council, Abuja, has expressed sadness over the death of Mr Alex Ogbu and demanded an in-depth investigation into the circumstances leading to his killing.

Ogbu was killed by police bullet on Tuesday during a protest by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.

The union in a statement on Thursday said it seemed to had become a pattern for police personnel to target journalists covering protests in Abuja going by the rising tragic deaths in recent times.

The statement reads, “It is heart-rending to know that yet another journalist was felled in this seeming unending orgy of bloodletting in Abuja and other parts of the country.

“We at the NUJ are now asking if this is a pattern where journalists become victims in the legitimate pursuit of their profession as reporters?

“It is barely seven months that Precious Owolabi of Channels TV was cut down in his prime, only for Ogbu to die in a senseless manner.

“We demand that the FCT Police Command commences investigation into this death and ensure that the officer(s) involved in his killing faces the law.

“The police should know that any investigation without the inclusion of the union and National Human Rights Commission will amount to an exercise in futility.

“NUJ will hold the police hierarchy responsible if justice was not served in this matter.

“We will ensure that if the Nigerian state fails, we will explore diplomatic channels to ensure that those who harass, intimidate and kill journalists under any guise are made to bear the brunt of such objectionable conduct.”

Ogbu until his death was a journalist with Regent Africa Times where he covered politics and was a critical voice in demanding for good governance.

2019: Nigeria named among countries where journalists were killed.

Nigeria has been listed among countries where death of journalists and media professionals occurred in 2019.

While over 19 journalists were harassed, assaulted, brutalised, arrested and detained in 2019, a reporter was killed in the country.

The death of Precious Owolabi, a reporter attached to Channels TV, sees Nigeria emerging the least country with record of death of journalists.

Recall that the detention of Agba Jalingo was recorded in the November list of One Free Press Coalition of the most urgent cases of threats to press freedom suffered by journalists around the world.

Student journalists are also facing attack and intimidation by various state governments with the growing repression of media space in the country.

The Federation says that while the apparent decreasing bloodbath in the journalists’ community is a welcome relief, the spread of killings and the motives behind the killings are sobering reminders that violence against journalists is still rampant and failure to combat impunity for these attacks remain a damning indictment on those in power.

“Africa (9), Asia Pacific (12), Europe (2), Latin America (18) and the Middle East and Arab world (8). The Federation also recorded six work-related accidental deaths in Tanzania (5) and the United States (1).

“The death toll is the lowest since 2000, when 37 journalists and media staff were killed, but the causes of the loss of life during 2019 remain largely the same,” said IFJ President, Younes Mjahed.

Mocked-up video: Trump shoots journalist and rival politician.

A mocked-up video showing Donald Trump slaughtering media companies and left-wing campaign groups was reportedly shown at the president’s Doral golf resort.

The clip, in which Mr Trump’s face is superimposed on the secret agent played by Colin Firth in the film Kingsman: The Secret Service, shows the president killing people with the logos of news organisations such as CNN, the BBC and Politico on their heads.

Logos for Buzzfeed, the Washington Post, Black Lives Matter and Barack Obama’s presidential campaign were also pasted onto victims of Firth’s character in the film’s church massacre scene – rebranded the “church of fake news”.

The faces of individuals with whom Mr Trump has feuded, including Mr Obama, Mitt Romney, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, also appear.

According to the New York Times, the four-minute clip was shown during a conference at Doral resort in Miami, Florida, by the American Priority campaign group. Organisers said the video was not seen or sanctioned by them.

It’s shameful that same sex marriage is still unaccepted in Nigeria – Kiki Mordi said.

Journalist, Kiki Mordi, has said it is a shame that same sex marriage is still illegal in Nigeria.

In 2014, ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, signed the anti-same sex bill into law, banning all forms of gay associations or marriage. The law places a 14-year jail term for any offender.

Kiki who came to limelight following her Sex for Grades documentary released a few months ago, stated that Nigeria is on the wrong side of history for banning same-sex marriages.

Since 2015, No Journalist Has Been Detained – Garba Shehu Boast. #Buhari’sEra

… sowore calls for overthrowing government of Nigeria

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, has denied media reports that Omoyele Sowore, the owner of Sahara Reporters and convener of Revolution Now protest, was detained by the Federal government because he is a journalist.

In a post shared on his Facebook page this afternoon, Shehu said Sowore was detained because he called for a revolution against a democratically elected government.

Garba in his post stated that the Buhari government has since its inception in 2015, not arrested or detained a journalist nor seized copies of newspapers nor shut down a medium of information. Read his post below

The Presidency wishes to clarify the release on bail, of the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress in the February 2019 elections, Omoyele Sowore.

Some international news outlets have mistakenly been describing his release as that of a journalist.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Buhari administration has never, since coming into office in 2015, detained a journalist, seized copies of newspapers or shut down a medium of information.

Sowore called for a revolution to overthrow the democratically elected government of Nigeria. He did so on television, and from a privileged position as the owner of a widely read digital newspaper run from the United States of America.

He founded an organisation, Revolution Now, to launch, in their own words, “Days of Rage”, with the publicised purpose of fomenting mass civil unrest and the elected administration’s overthrow. No government will allow anybody to openly call for destabilization in the country and do nothing.

The government believes strictly in observing the rule of law but must safeguard public security and will not allow trouble makers to incite the public and cause a breakdown of law and order.
