Inter Milan offer Christian Eriksen 4 year contract

...€20m bid offer ready

Italian outfit Inter have offered Christian Eriksen a four-year contract and are preparing to submit a €20m bid to Tottenham this month.

The Denmark international is in the last six months of his contract in north London and is free to talk to clubs abroad over possible moves at the end of the season.

Tottenham have even given Eriksen a measly €20m price tag as they look to avoid losing him on a free transfer, with The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano confirming that the asking price is being considered by Antonio Conte’s Inter.

The Italian side initially approached Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, with a four-year contract with the view of completing a deal for the end of the season, but the 28-year-old’s low price is making the club weigh up a move this month.

Gianluca Di Marzio adds that Inter could even look to offer Uruguay international Matías Vecino as part of any move for Eriksen this month.

It isn’t suggested one way or the other whether Tottenham would be interested in signing Vecino during the January transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have already held talks with Eriksen’s agent, while Paris Saint-Germain are also expected to hold talks in the coming days.

It’s unknown if Harry Kane’s recent injury could impact Tottenham’s stance over selling Eriksen this month, although an extra €20m (roughly £17m) would assist the club in their efforts to find a stop-gap during the January transfer window.

Spurs have most notably been linked with a move for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piątek, but they’ve also been keeping an eye on Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard – although he won’t be available until the summer transfer window.

If Tottenham are looking to promote from within, however, then Troy Parrott could be given the chance to become the fourth young Republic of Ireland striker to make an impact at a senior level in England this season.

Inter are keeping tabs on Christian Eriksen’s situation, with the Italian side eager to secure the Dane’s signature in the summer when his contract expires, while Tottenham are more keen on a January departure.

Eriksen’s future has been a huge topic of debate during recent transfer windows, with the playmaker unwilling to commit his future to the club and instead seeking to depart the club when his contract expires in June, or potentially even before that

That’s not what Inter are hoping for, though, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. They would like Eriksen to see out his contract with Spurs and join them for free in the summer, with Antonio Conte a big fan of the midfielder’s talents. Inter’s directors have already begun contacts with Eriksen’s agents, with a view to making that dream a reality.

However, Tottenham are resigned to losing Eriksen, therefore would prefer to see him sold for a fee this window. Di Marzio adds that they would be willing to part with the Danish international for a fee of €20m, which they deem a fair valuation given the length of his contract remaining.

The Serie A side may be forced to act quickly in that sense, while the report also adds other circumstances may too force their hand early. They revolve around the club’s pursuit of Arturo Vidal, who Inter are aiming to bring in from Barcelona this January.

Conte would prefer to make immediate additions to his squad, as he looks to end Juventus’ run of eight successive Scudetti. It is added that should the club be unable to add Vidal during the winter window then their pursuit of Eriksen will be ramped up, and a January deal a more likely possibility.

Equally, if they do move this window, it will give them a better chance of securing the Dane’s signature, as the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG wait in the wings to snap him up for free in the summer

Diego Alonso becomes Inter’s new coach.

…defeat Patrick Vieira

Two months before David Beckham’s new franchise football club Inter Miami makes it debut in America’s Major League Soccer (MLS), the club has appointed Diego Alonso as it’s new coach, after he beat off stiff competition from Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira and River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo to clinch the job.

Beckham who owns major stakes in the club and is projected as the face of the club, was impressed by Diego’s CV and intelligence and chose to offer him the role.

“In Diego we found a manager that fits our culture and has a strong desire to build a winning club for our fans,” said Inter Miami CF Sporting Director Paul McDonough.
“He brings a lot of experience and championship-winning mentality as we begin our drive to be among the best clubs in the Americas. We have big aspirations for our club and believe Diego has the right drive, passion and leadership to accomplish our goals.”

Starting from March, Inter Miami will play home games at the 18,000-capacity Fort Lauderdale Stadium before moving to its permanent home, the 25,000-capacity Miami Freedom Park, in 2022.
