‘Nothing will stop my trust in Dembele’ – Koeman

Koeman is putting the future of the Frenchman in the hands of the club and values Messi’s message of unity: “To be happy, you have to win games.” He confirms the signing of Dest and has faith that a number 9 can still arrive.

Speaking ahead of Barcelona’s trip to Balaídos to take on Celta Vigo on Thursday, head coach Ronald Koeman discussed several topics including Dest, Messi and signing a new striker.

What do you expect from Celta?

We expect a difficult match. They have also told me that in recent years Barça has not been able to win in Vigo. It is a complicated team, with good players. We have to be be ready for it and play our own game to win.

Messi has asked for unity. Is it the best news?

I don’t know if after Leo’s statements I’m going to have a quiet life, I don’t think so. But it is positive that the captain is asking for unity. This has always been positive. Hopefully we are going to be calmer than in recent times.

What expectations do you have for Dest?

He’s doing his medical and his contract still needs to be signed. I will not comment until he has signed. We are going to have a young side. It is a matter of changing things and having young players for the future of this club. Yes it is good because he, despite his age, has played in the Champions League and I am sure, when all the contracts are signed, that he will be good for Barça.

Is Dembélé a key player or would it be right to sell him?

This situation is in the club’s and player’s hands. As long as he is with us, I will count on him. He has not played from the beginning because there are more players and Ansu Fati has proven to be good. You have to wait for your opportunity. He has had a slump in recent weeks but today has been good and I will count on him.

What can you do to make Messi fully happy?

You have to find the best team for him, where he can shine and where he gets the most from. I have seen that he lives for football, even in training matches he does everything to win. For Leo to be happy, we have to win games.

Are you a supporter of VAR?

In Holland and in other countries, there is controversy. On the subject of the handball especially. It’s very complicated. The referee’s job is even more complicated. I think they sometimes go too far with VAR. But at the end of the season, you will look back and see that VAR has been for and against you at several points over the year. On the offside, I agree with VAR. On the subject of handball, no. They are blowing up too much.

Are you still confident that Depay can come to Barcelona?

We have to analyse the squad, analyse what we lack. We know that financially the club has its problems, like everyone else. There are one or two positions where we need to improve. And I’m not going to lie to you. We are working. There are options but it is complicated. The club is going to work hard to make more transfers. If not, we will use our players because I have no complaints from the ones we have.

Griezmann played very little against Villarreal. Are you worried you won’t find a spot for him in the side?

It does not worry me. Antoine is doing things well. He is playing from the right, but not stuck on the wing, with freedom. He does things well and I managed a Holland-France game and he started from that position.

What is your plan for Rafinha?

For players who won’t play much, it is better for them to look for new opportunities. I know that Rafinha has been on loan and can’t continue to be on loan every season. We have a lot of midfielders, we will have to look for the best for the team.

What is more important, the signing of a striker or a center-back?

One position is not more important than the other. These are two positions in which we are a bit light. With Gerard, Lenglet and Araujo we are short. That is why we have called up Santi Ramos from Barça B.

How will Braithwaite fit in your plans?

We want to have two or three players per position. We have put Leo as a nine, Griezmann can play there, but they are different players. Martin is more than a nine and will have his chances but we want one more striker.

Napoli might be in Danger as Griezmann and Dembele returns

Barcelona have been handed an injury boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Napoli as Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele returned to training.

Dembele underwent surgery on his hamstring in February and has not played a competitive game since November while Griezmann missed the end of the LaLiga season with a thigh problem.

But both players completed a full session with the rest of their team-mates after having to train separately due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann worked individually as Barcelona began their preparations for the Champions League return against Napoli.

Barcelona returned to training on Tuesday ahead of the resumption of the Champions League campaign, with Ousmane Dembélé and Antoine Griezmann both reporting for duty after recovering from injury as Quique Setién’s side prepare to face Napoli at Camp Nou on 8 August.

The French duo have both been sidelined but underwent individual recovery work as they continued their rehabilitation.

Griezmann suffered a thigh problem in the 1-0 win over Real Valladolid on July 11, forcing him to miss the final two LaLiga games as Barça were dethroned by Real Madrid during the run-in.

As for Dembélé, his season was seemingly over when he underwent surgery to repair his damaged hamstring back in February.

However, the extension of the 2019-20 campaign due to the coronavirus pandemic has raised the possibility of the winger featuring in Europe.

Barça and Napoli at 1-1 after opening leg
Meanwhile, defender Clément Lenglet also worked away from the rest of the group, the centre-back attempting to overcome a groin injury suffered on the last day of the league campaign.

Barça are beginning preparations for the delayed second leg of their last-16 tie against Napoli, to be played at Camp Nou. The teams drew 1-1 in the first meeting, which took place on Italian soil in February.

The subsequent knockout rounds will take place in Portugal, all as one-off games following changes to the schedule caused by the Covid-19 crisis.

Dembele to Liverpool? Still to be cleared based on injury records

Liverpool were beaten to Timo Werner by Chelsea and now they are looking at Ousmane Dembele. Before taking any decisions, though, they are trying to make sure they won’t have trouble with the French winger.

According to the Express, Liverpool are worried about his injury history, the number of games he has missed during his time at Camp Nou. Dembele does not want to leave particularly.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s coach, commented on Saturday that the Reds won’t spend much on players this summer. Teams will have less in general.

“There are all types of rumours in England about who Man United will choose, who will sign for Chelsea,” said Klopp.

“I am calm. If you want to take it seriously and do normal business, right now you don’t know how much you will get in because we don’t know when we can play with fans again. Right now all clubs are losing money. Without fans, we have to give back money (season tickets) and probably can’t sell any for next year.

“Arguing with players about salary cuts and then signing a player for 50-60 million euros is hard to explain.”

Dembele stays committed to Barcelona ‘Will even reject Juve’

Dembele stays committed to Barcelona ‘Will even reject Juve’

According to NobleSports reliable source, Ousmane Dembele has no intention of leaving Barcelona, even if Juventus did make an approach.

The 23-year-old wide attacker made a massive €125m transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017, but had a serious injury and made only nine competitive appearances this season, scoring one goal.

Dembele had been mentioned as a potential part of the exchange deal bringing Miralem Pjanic to Camp Nou, after Arthur Melo rejected the switch.

However, L’Equipe claim this evening that his agent does not see any move away from Barcelona this summer.

At the same time, the representative intimated that Juventus had ‘courted’ Dembele.

This would be the second Barcelona player who is refusing to join Juve as part of an exchange for Pjanic.

Barca willing to accept any offers for Dembele

Barcelona will listen to loan offers for Ousmane Dembele in the summer such is the desire to get him off the wage bill and to stop his value nose-diving, reports Mail.

There is huge confidence at the club in the ability of 20-year-old Francisco Trincao, signed from Braga in January, and 17-year-old Ansu Fati, to push on next season.

If the Portuguese forward hits the ground running and Fati continues to develop then Barcelona feel they can allow Dembele to leave even if he doesn’t immediately bring in a fee.

The club are open to a similar deal to the one that took Philippe Coutinho to Bayern Munich last summer. Bayern paid around 12m euros (£10.7m) for the one-year loan, plus the player’s wage believed to be around 12m. They had the option of buying him for 120m euros when the season ends.

Barcelona never expected that offer to be taken up but they gambled on his time in Germany being so successful that his value would return the sort of levels it was at when they signed him in January 2018 for £145m.

Barcelona signed Dembele five months before Coutinho. They paid £96million to Borussia Dortmund with an additional £35million in add-on payments. His wages are, like Coutinho’s, around 12m euros and he has since played just eight full 90-minute games in two-and-a-half seasons.

He has suffered 10 injuries since joining the club from Dortmund where he had few fitness problems. Barcelona coach Quique Setien believes if the injury problems can be solved he can recuperate the second biggest signing in Barcelona’s history but the club’s priority is reducing its wage bill in the face of the coronavirus pandemic crisis and the loan option is being seriously considered.

The club feel they have no alternative but to try to set deals in place before the end of this truncated season because of financial pressure created by the interruption of the campaign and the likelihood that they will have no spectators inside the Camp Nou until next year.

The problem will be in finding the right loan club. El Mundo Deportivo speculated on Monday that Juventus had asked after the 23-year-old. And on the same day Diario Sport reported that Paris Saint Germain have an interest.

Both scenarios would be ideal because Barcelona want Juventus midfielder Pjanic and still cling to faint hopes of signing Neymar. But the rumoured interest is likely to be optimistic on Barcelona’s part. Weaving a Dembele loan into either deal would solve some of the club’s problems but both Juventus and PSG will take some convincing even on loan terms to gamble on Dembele turning his career around.

Juventus proposes Dembele on loan as part of Pjanic’s deal

Barcelona’s hopes of landing Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic have been boosted with the Italian club reportedly keen to bring Ousmane Dembele in the other direction.

The 23-year-old has been blighted by injury and loss of form since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund for £138million in 2017.

Those lingering injury issues remain a cause for concern and so Juventus, according to the front page of Monday’s Mundo Deportivo, have asked Barcelona about the potential for a season-long loan with an option-to-buy Dembele as part of the Pjanic negotiations.

Barcelona need sales this summer to raise funds for their top players with Pjanic, Lautaro Martinez and Neymar their three preferred signings.

To get these players, Barcelona are acutely aware of the need to shift some of the big earners who are not meriting their spots in the team.

All in all Dembele has 74 appearances and 19 goals in his Barca career and is believed to be earning around £200,000-a-week.

Juventus’ hopes for a loan move for the Frenchman would appear to suggest they want to see how his body fares under the rigours of Italian football and an option-to-buy would arrive when he has a year left on his deal with Barcelona.

Barcelona boss Quique Setien has reportedly been keen to work with Dembele and maximise his potential.

But with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Ansu Fati and Martin Braithwaite, as well as the pursuit of Inter Milan striker Martinez, Dembele could be used as a crucial bargaining in getting a deal for Pjanic over the line.

Juventus had made Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo the top choice of player they wanted from the Nou Camp for any swap deal.

But reports in Spain reiterate that he does not want to move to Italy and so Barcelona need to find another player of interest to Juventus to keep the deal alive.

Pjanic, 30, is highly-valued by Juventus and they are unlikely to compromise their €60m (£53.6m) valuation despite the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bosnian has been a major success at Juve since arriving from Roma in 2016, winning three Serie A titles and two Italian Cups.

Although there will be question marks surrounding Pjanic’s advancing years, Barca instead see his age as a positive in terms of experience that would be invaluable to the likes of young talent including Riqui Puig.

PSG’s interest in Dembele could take Neymar back to Barcelona

Barcelona have a genuine dilemma with Ousmane Dembele. No one doubts his incredible ability but injuries and a passive attitude have heled him back at the club. The Frenchman is still recovering from his latest injury and won’t be ready until next season. The club have taken care of him, aware he could be a key player, but they won’t close the door on an exit.

Paris Saint-Germain, in that sense, could be important. The French club want more French players in their squad and are interested in the winger — which could play into Barça’s hands when negotiating for Neymar.

Dembele would be a risky signing. His muscle injuries have been continual and serious. But PSG are convinced he can move on from them. In Paris, they are up to date on his recovery and believe, like Barça, they’re related to his growth. From now on, there’s a belief that things will stabilise and he will able to play more consistently.

He is still young and has a long career ahead of him. PSG wanted to bet on him last summer and his name was on the table in talks for Neymar to bring the cost down. PSG boss, Thomas Tichel, knows him well from his time at Borussia Dortmund and knows that he can get the best from him and help him develop.

In addition, PSG are one of the few clubs that can pay his salary, which is around 10 million euros net per season. Barça are aware of the interest but won’t make any move. Despite reports in France and Italy saying Dembele is on the market. the reality is Barça have not offered him out. It’s about waiting because he will not be fit again until August.

Dembele’s exit won’t be seen as too traumatic if it’s related with Neymar’s return. And, in addition, it would make space for La Masia graduates like Ansu Fati or Alex Volado. In fact, Ansu is already ahead of Dembele and could become a star if he’s given minutes on the pitch. It remains to be seen what PSG will do and if they would be open to swapping for Neymar, who will once again be at the centre of any talks.

Barca lowers Dembele’s Price to €42m and PSG Sets to take advantage

Ousmane Dembele wants to stay at Barcelona and finish his contract but according to TMW, the Catalans want to sell him. They want to lower their salary bill and get some money in for him. PSG are a possible destination.

Barca would be willing to sell him for 42 million euros according to the same source. Leonardo, the PSG director, likes the winger.

Barca signed him in 2017 but because of injuries he has not been able to perform as they would have liked. He gets 12 million euros a season.

If Barca decided to loan him instead then various Italian sides would also be interested.

Barcelona to make medical checks on Suarez and Dembele recovery

The Uruguayan has completed the period of convalescence of his injury, the Frenchman not yet.

Luis Suárez and Dembélé will have a special treatment in the gradual and gradual return of Barcelona to training.

The state of alarm and confinement caught the Uruguayan and the Frenchman in the process of recovering their injuries and the club will apply from today’s strict controls and a protocol of revisions to know the evolution and establish the date of final discharge. Both will undergo medical check-ups.

Arsenal want to loan Dembele but Barca hope to sell him in summer

Barcelona want to sell a few players this summer to raise money for transfers, and there’s nobody they would like to be rid of more than Ousmane Dembele.

The France winger’s signing has proved to be an absolute disaster, and his transfer from Borussia Dortmund is going down in history as an absolute stinker after he’s played just 74 games in 3 years.

The club would love to sell him, even at a loss on the enormous sum they paid, and according to Sport today, they may have found a buyer.

Arsenal have apparently asked to be informed about the winger’s future and the terms of a potential deal. The Gunners won’t be disposed to pay a lot, and may prefer a structured loan deal, but any avenue for the Barca to sell Dembele will have to be seriously looked at.

Barcelona could try to insert Dembele into deal for Lautaro

Barcelona could try and include Ousmane Dembele in a deal for Inter’s Lautaro Martinez according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Barcelona are extremely keen to land Lautaro and wish to do so on a player(s) plus cash basis and there has been no shortage of names suggested when it comes to potential makeweights.

Arturo Vidal, Carles Alena, Arthur, Junior Firpo, Nelson Semedo among a number of others have all been suggested in the media recently and as per the Rome based newspaper Dembele is the latest possibility.

However, the report does warn that the Frenchman’s annual salary of €9 million are likely to be a stumbling block for Inter.

The 22-year-old winger joined the Blaugrana club back in the Summer of 2017 on a five year deal from Borussia Dortmund and he has since went on to represent the club 74 times, in which he has scored 19 goals and provided 17 assists.

Rivaldo: The time has come for Barcelona to sell Dembele

The time has come for Barcelona to offload Ousmane Dembele, says Rivaldo, with the Frenchman having no part to play even before links to Neymar and Lautaro Martinez are taken into account.

The Blaugrana legend told Betfair: “Ousmane Dembele signed for Barcelona almost three years ago and he has already had enough time to establish himself in the club and prove his value. It’s possible that he will never show his quality at the club.

“He is still a player with huge potential, but I think this summer could be the right opportunity for Barcelona to sell or even exchange him for a player they’re chasing already.

“He’s been unlucky with injuries, but he might also have tried to give more at some moments.

“Things haven’t gone according to expectations and he might be able to revive his career at another club where he will feel more confident to play at his best.

“Barcelona seems to be trying to sign Neymar and Lautaro Martinez, so Dembele will probably struggle to get in the first team next season.

“Additionally, Barcelona would need to reduce its squad and earn some money if they really want to succeed in bringing in their current targets. To sign new players, others must leave.”

Dembele has made 74 appearances for Barcelona, with 19 goals recorded across those outings, but he faces fierce competition for places and is likely to see a battle for minutes intensify over the summer.

Inter & Juve to rival for Dembele as Sarri’s side to offer Rugani in deal

Inter and Juventus have recently shown an interest in young French international Ousmane Dembele, per GdS reports.

The report claims that both Italian clubs want to sign Dembele and Juve director Fabio Paratici offers a swap deal involving Rugani.

Dembele has only played around a third of possible minutes since signing for Dortmund and even when fit has failed to become a fixture.

Before this season was interrupted by the coronavirus he had played just two full matches in LaLiga.

Last season he also played just two full games. If he is sold the club will have to take a huge hit on the player they signed for €105m (£92m) plus €40m (£35m) in add-ons three years ago

Barcelona ‘Open to Offers’ for Ousmane Dembele This Summer

Ousmane Dembele has been tipped to leave Barcelona this summer, with the Spanish champions ‘open to offers’ according to journalist Guillem Balague.

Lyon President Delivers Transfer Update on Man Utd & Chelsea Target Moussa Dembele

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed the club will not stand in the way of any player who wishes to leave, including Manchester United and Chelsea target Moussa Dembele.

United were rumoured to be interested in bringing the former Celtic man to Old Trafford last month as they searched for reinforcements following the injury sustained by Marcus Rashford.

Chelsea were linked with a late move for Dembele last month, though previously revealed the Frenchman would not leave the Ligue 1 side during the winter window.

Moussa Dembele

Dembele has been in sensational form yet again this season, notching 13 goals in 23 games in Ligue 1. Despite the former France Under-21 star’s move to the Premier League failing to materialise, Aulas has confirmed players looking to leave the club will not be forcefully stopped from doing so.

“We already have a certain number of offers for our players for summer,” Aulas said, as quoted by Manchester Evening News. “We sell the players who want to leave to where they want to go.”

Rashford’s injury left United light up top, with Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood the only fit senior forwards at the club. Their quest for frontline back-up eventually resulted in the deadline day signing of former Watford man Odion Ighalo.

Ighalo is yet to feature for the club and is believed to have been training away from the squad due to fears regarding his health, having recently arrived from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

Ahead of Monday’s vital trip to Chelsea, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he is keen to involve Ighalo with the squad.

“He is going to travel with us [for the Chelsea game],” Solskjaer said. “We will just see his fitness work this week and I think we will get him sharp. We want to integrate him as quickly as we can because, of course, he is desperate to play for us.”

United sit eighth in the Premier League, six points behind Chelsea who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Barça to Sign €35m Striker Outside of Transfer Window After Ousmane Dembele Ruled Out for 6 Months

Barcelona have apparently reached an agreement to sign Willian Jose from Real Sociedad, following the news that Ousmane Dembélé will ruled out for up to six months after undergoing hamstring surgery in Finland.

The France international has made just nine appearances this season due to a constant battle with injury problems and his latest setback came after a 2-1 win over CD Leganés earlier this season.

Ousmane Dembélé Arrives in Finland for Surgery as Barcelona Await News of Emergency Forward Search

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé has arrived in Finland for surgery on his torn hamstring, which is expected to sideline him for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old has struggled badly with muscle injuries since moving to Camp Nou, managing just nine appearances this season before initially injuring his hamstring back in November – before tearing the muscle in training on his way back to fitness.

Hamstring injury denies Dembele of Clasico clash against R.Madrid as he stands to bag 10 weeks leave.

Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele was ruled out of action for 10 weeks with a right hamstring injury on Friday, sidelining the French international from next month’s Clasico clash against Real Madrid, the Spanish champions said.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury in the first half of Wednesday’s 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

“A medical examination has confirmed that Ousmane Dembele has suffered an injury to his right hamstring. His estimated layoff time is approximately 10 weeks,” said a Barcelona statement.

Dembele, who has struggled with injury setbacks this season, has played only eight times for the Spanish giants in the current campaign with just one goal scored in La Liga.

Barcelona will face bitter rivals Real Madrid on December 18.
