Ebonyi State Governor Chief Dave Nweze Umahi, on Tuesday, has lifted the ban on Commercial motorcycle operation popularly known as Okada, and also relaxed the curfew imposed on the state between 7pm and 7am.

Governor Umahi made the announcement during a statewide broadcast on the update of preventive measures taken by the State government to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.

The Governor stated that the lifting of the ban on Okada operation and the relaxing on the curfew followed the level of corporation by citizens of the state and announced that the ban still continues within 300 meters away from the different boundaries in the state.

Umahi maintained that the ban on Religious activities and shutdown of drinking joints in that state continues adding that the World Health Organization (WHO) stipulates that opening on drinking joints exposes the people to dangers of contracting the virus.

Meet man arraigned for saying a woman’s vagina smells

A middle-aged man, David Kigoma Onguyi has been arraigned in court after verbally abusing a female trader at Maasai Market in Kenya.

The porter-cum-menial worker was charged with creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, after insulting the woman identified simply as Nyaboke at the market where she runs a Maasai curio shop on January 5, 2020.

The heated exchange ensued after the suspect who took a customer to Nyaboke’s shop on December 19 where she bought goods worth Ksh500, refused giving her the money but promised to settle the debt “later in the day”.

All attempts for Onguyi to give Nyaboke the money was futile, leading to claims of the trader’s private part stinking at the market where other traders and customers watched in disbelief.

Onguyi who allegedly threatened to beat up Nyaboke, reportedly told her;

“You are dirty just like your vagina, and I know that you do not wear underwear. And, even if you have worn one today, I am sure it is torn. And again, remember to use tissue paper to wipe yourself clean after answering the short call of nature”

The suspect who was released on a Ksh10, 000 cash bail after being arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate Mothoni Nzibe, denied the charges following his arrest after the incident was reported at KICC Police Station.

Nzibe adjourned the case till January 21, 2020.

SCOAN founder, T.B Joshua Tells Bayelsa Gov-elect, says “I am at your service”.

…insists David Lyon is God’s will for Bayelsans.

The Leader and Founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet T.B. Joshua, has declared the governor-elect, Chief David Lyon, as the will of God for Bayelsa State.

A statement by Lyon’s Media Aide, Chief Gift Ebiki, said Lyon was in SCOAN on Sunday for thanksgiving after the poll and to seek spiritual direction for a better Bayelsa.

He said Joshua during his ministration spotted Lyon from a crowd of worshippers and promised to be at the service of the governor-elect to ensure he meets the expectations of the people of Bayelsa.

According to him, the only way Bayelsans would believe he is the right person is for him to meet their expectations.

Addressing Lyon, he said: “This is not the time for testimony. This will come after his inauguration. I want to give my brother a message that he will continue to think about. I want him to have something that will continue to go through his heart. I am not going to say anything that the Spirit of God would not. He is not a new person to us. He is one of the brethren in this ministry. He is one of us. He has been a fervent believer in the Blood of Jesus. Going by the politics in the town today, I want my brother to know that the only way the people of Bayelsa will believe that he is the one they voted for, is for him to meet the expectations of the people of Bayelsa. He is banking on your prayer because the best is yet to come. My brother, I am at your service. When I say I am at his service, I mean I am at his service to see that the expectations of the Bayelsan people are executed.”

Bayelsa: See why my support made David Lyon victorious – Princess Ebiere Sidi Said..

A former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Henry Seriake Dickson on General Duties, Princess Ebiere Sidi, has given reasons why against all odds she supported the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor-Elect David Lyon.

According to Sidi, her support for Lyon against the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Douye Diri, was as a result of the state being in dire need of a leader that understands the challenges of the many ethnic and religious communities in the state and is likely to run an inclusive government.

The former adviser said she was convinced that Lyon would be the best candidate to bring development, fairness and equity to the running of Bayelsa State.

Briefing reporters in Abuja, Sidi, who expressed gratitude to God for making Lyon victorious at the November 16th governorship election, said that as an ardent supporter of the Governor-elect, she embarked on a house-to-house campaign to ensure that he won.

“Participation by both men and women, either directly or through legitimate representatives, is a key cornerstone of good governance. Participation needs to be informed and organised, including freedom of expression and assiduous concern for the best interests of the organization and society in general,” she said.

Sidi appealed to the Governor-elect to focus on issues that would lead to growth and development, not only in Bayelsa State, but the country at large.

She also said that going by the turn out of the election, it was clear that the people of Bayelsa needed a change in order to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Sidi added: “From the voting pattern and the post-election comments, you will agree with me that Bayelsans are happy and hopeful that they will once again experience the dividend of democracy.

“As a Governor, you must be somebody who has time and commitment to ensure that there is equity. Such a person must address the yearnings of the people.

“Therefore, the word ‘good’ in governance connotes the proper exercise of authority, management of resources and respect for the rule of law in accordance with laid down principles for the benefit of all in the state.

“I am also of the view that if we have the right person, this country would be the right place for everyone.”

Speaking further, Sidi stated that Bayelsa needed a chief executive who can manage the resources accruing to the state and also ensure respect to the rule of law.

Sidi also emphasised the need for Lyon to focus on poverty eradication, unemployment, quality education, water supply, and infrastructure, among other matters.
