32 year old Kabiru Moh’d arrested for making video of president Buhari getting married to Minister of finance, Ahmed Zainab

A 32-year-old man, Kabiru Mohammed, has been arrested by men of the Department of State Services DSS for creating and sharing fake videos depicting President Buhari’s marrying the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq.

Recall that in October 2019, rumors were rife that President Buhari was set to wed Farouq. It turned out to be a false report as nothing like that ever happened.

Parading Mohammed before newsmen at its National Headquarters on Friday January 3rd, the DSS Public Relations Officer, Dr Peter Afunanya, said an investigation was launched, following a formal complaint to the Service by the Minister for Finance.

“Last year, 2019 between August and October there was a defamatory video that circulated widely across Nigeria and showing false engagement of Mr President in marriage with some members of his cabinet. One was the Minister for Finance, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed and another was that of the Minister for Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq. On the 11thof October, 2019 the Honourable Minister for Finance, brought a formal complaint to the Service in which she stated that the video had cost her big embarrassment and asked that an investigation be opened into that audio/video and the materials associated with it, the infographics and all the materials that were in circulation at the moment. She asked that a detailed investigation be opened in that regard with a view to identifying the persons or groups of persons that may have been behind the circulation of such defamatory materials.

The Service went into investigation and we can announce that it had apprehended the person that is involved and the person who started this and who circulated the materials. His name is Kabiru Mohammed. He hails from Kano. He is 32 years. He holds a diploma in Hausa and Fulfulde from the Federal College of Education, Kano and also holds a diploma in Mass Communication from Aminu Kano Islamic School, according to him.

He has confessed and investigation has also revealed his involvement in the creation of these materials and the circulation of the materials. Investigation is continuing to determine the actual reasons behind his intent. What we can assure you as Nigerians is that we would continue to deepen this investigation and bring it to a logical conclusion.

We will do everything needful within the ambit of the law to bring this to a logical conclusion, as to determine whether there is or not other persons, interests and motives behind this other than what he has said.

We want to use this opportunity to once again please ask Nigerians as always that the spread of false news through the social media does not do well for any person. You may enjoy the spread of such falsehood when you are not the victim. But if you become the victim, you will know the pain. And we want to urge every citizen and residents and of course Nigerians, that anywhere they are, they should desist from spreading falsehoods, misrepresentations, rumours against one another, against then government, and against institutions of government.

Kabiru Mohammed

By the time you click that button and you spread or participate in sharing news that is not true, you are helping in causing disharmony, you are helping in bringing problem in the country. And you are also feeding on differences in the country to bring about chaos, anarchy and instability. As we go into the New Year, we urge everyone to make a new attitude and begin to find reasons to be more patriotic, to be more law abiding, and be better citizens and to help move Nigeria forward. On our part we would continue to perform our duties and responsibilities without let or fear and will always collaborate with all stakeholders particularly the media and strategic partners to make sure there is lasting peace in the country.”

A remorseful Mohammed admitted to creating and sharing the videos and pleaded for forgiveness, saying it was a mistake.

PDP slams, says Buhari, Aisha has turned presidency to Fuji House of Commotion.

…as fued between Aisha, mamman and garba boils

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP has said the Buhari-led government has reduced the Presidency to Kunle Bamtefa’s soap opera, Fuji House of Commotion. The party stated this while reacting to first lady, Aisha Buhari’s recent attack on the Senior Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

In a statement released today Wednesday December 11th, Mrs Buhari accused Garba Shehu of selling his loyalty to her husband to people who are not in her husband’s government. She accused Mr Shehu of being used by some persons to wage a media war against her and her children.

PDP in its statement said Mrs Buhari’s outburst has ”exposed Buhari’s failure to lead and enforce an organized governance structure.”

Read the statement in full below

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the public outburst by First Lady, Aisha Buhari, is another sad commentary that further exposes President Muhammadu Buhari’s incompetence and why governance has failed in his hands.

The party says the development has also exposed President Buhari’s failure to lead and enforce an organized governance structure, and that the governance of our nation has been ceded to the chaotic and selfish whims of a cabal.

It is indeed appalling that under President Buhari, our once productive and highly organized Presidency has been bastardized and reduced to Kunle Bamtefa’s soap opera, Fuji House of Commotion.

Instead of governance, the Buhari Presidency has continued to serve Nigerians and the international community with tragicomedies that make mockery of leadership.

Nigerians can now further see why nothing works under the Buhari Presidency; why the administration has remained shambolic and plagued with policy summersaults and executive recklessness; why our economy has remained comatose and why our nation has been dangerously drifting to the brinks under President Buhari’s watch.

Indeed, the Buhari Presidency has proven to be a huge national embarrassment and a big problem for our nation.

Never in the history of our nation has the office, essence and symbol of Nigeria’s Presidency been so stripped and ridiculed.

The PDP urges President Buhari to immediately put his house in order and save our nation further embarrassments under his very incompetent, disorderly and messy regime.

Nigeria’s First, Aisha Buhari Seeks Shehu Garba’s Resignation.

…accused Shehu of taking instruction from mamman daura.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari on Wednesday demanded for the resignation of the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

In a statement, she accused the presidential spokesman of interfering in the affairs of the president’s family.

“In saner climes, Garba Shehu would have resigned immediately after going beyond his boundaries and powers” she said in the statement.

Aisha said Shehu has abandoned his responsibility of managing the image of the president and has “shifted his loyalty from the president to others who have no stake in the compact that the president signed with Nigerians on May 29, 2015 and 2019”.

She accused Shehu of taking instruction from President Buhari’s cousin, Mamman Daura, in the early days of the Administration, to declare that there will not be the Office of the First Lady, a development she said embarrassed her husband.

She accused him of releasing the video in which she had an altercation with the Daura family to the press, adding that his loyalty is not to anyone or group.

However, some Nigerians who took to social media have supported Aisha Buhari while others disagreed with her, claiming the incident should not be in the public domain and because she is in support of the Social Media Regulation bill.

Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react to Aisha Buhari’s recent attack on Garba Shehu, her husband’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity and Mamman Daura, her hubby’s closest ally.

In a statement released today December 11th, Aisha Buhari alleged that Garba Shehu has shifted his loyalty from the President to others who have no stake in the compact that the President signed with Nigerians on May 29, 2015, and 2019.

Some Nigerians on Twitter are not taking sides with Aisha Buhari on this matter, mostly because she is in support of the Social Media Regulation bill. See their reactions below.

Aisha Buhari – Daura issued presidential directive without my husband’s knowledge

…says Garba shehu has gone beyond all boundaries

Nigerian First Lady Aisha Buhari has alleged that Mamman Daura, a nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari, had used a presidential media aide to try and destabilise the First Family.

Mrs Buhari alleges that the aide, Garba Shehu, a Presidential Villa spokesman, was used by Daura to release a video that went viral in October when she returned from a two-month foreign trip, where she was seen asking questions and making comments about being locked out of a particular room at the Presidential Villa, and demanding that some unidentified persons pack their belongings out of the premises.

The President’s wife in a statement she personally signed and made available to the media Wednesday morning, also alleges that the meddlesomeness of Shehu almost led to the sack of two NTA staff attached to her office, adding that the antics have led to a “complete breakdown of trust between the First Family and him.”

The statement titled ‘Garba Shehu Has Gone Beyond His Boundaries‘, sent through the First Lady’s media aide, Suleiman Haruna’s email, reads:

“Nigeria’s development is hinged on the ability of public officials to execute their mandates professionally, and to be shining examples in their various areas of endeavor. It is not a good sign when officials abandon their responsibility and start clutching at straws.

“As spokesperson of the President, he has the onerous responsibility of managing the image of the President and all the good works that he is executing in the country. Rather than face this responsibility squarely, he has shifted his loyalty from the President to others who have no stake in the compact that the President signed with Nigerians on May 29, 2015 and 2019.

“To make matters worse, Mr Shehu has presented himself to these people as a willing tool and executioner of their antics, from the corridors of power even to the level of interfering with the family affairs of the President. This should not be so. The blatant meddling in the affairs of a First Lady of a country is a continuation of the prodigal actions of those that he serves. We all remember that the chief proponent appropriated to himself and his family a part of the Presidential Villa, where he stayed for almost 4 years, and when the time came for him to leave, he orchestrated and invaded my family’s privacy through a video circulated by Mamman’s Daughter, Fatima; the public was given the impression that on arrival into the country I was locked out of the villa by Mr President. Garba Shehu as Villa Spokesperson, knew the truth and had the responsibility to set the records straight, but because his allegiance is somewhere else and his loyalty misplaced, he deliberately refused to clear the air and speak for the President who appointed him in the first place. Consequently, his action has shown a complete breakdown of trust between the First Family and him.

“Mr Shehu was privy and part of the plan and its execution and he was shocked when he realized that I had publicized my return to Nigeria on October 12, 2019 and cleared the air on the many rumors that took over social media, a job he was supposed to do but kept mute to cause more confusion and instability for his Principal and his family.

“Garba then vented his anger on the National Television Authority (NTA) Management, insisting that the media crew to my office must be sacked. He succeeded in getting them suspended for doing their job. I had to intervene to save the innocent staff from losing their means of livelihood by involving the Department of State Services (DSS) in order to ascertain roles played by key actors in the saga.

“It is at this late hour that I recall, sadly, that it was the same Garba Shehu who claimed that the government will not allow office of the First Lady to run. He was later to confirm to one of my aides that he was instructed to say so by Mamman Daura and not the President. This antic attracted the anger of Nigerian women. He didn’t realize the fact that First Lady’s office is a tradition which has become an institution.

“Today, even without a budget, I am able run my humanitarian programmes.

“In saner climes, Garba Shehu would have resigned immediately after going beyond his boundaries and powers.

“GARBA SHEHU NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR WILL NO LONGER BE TOLERATED.

“The latest of his antics was to wage a war on the first family through an orchestrated media campaign of calumny by sponsoring pseudo accounts to write and defame my children and myself.

“Based on Garba Shehu’s misguided sense of loyalty and inability to stay true and loyal to one person or group, it has become apparent that all trust has broken down between him and my family due to the many embarrassments he has caused the Presidency and the first family. We all have families to consider in our actions and therefore it is in the best interest of all concerned for Garba Shehu to take the advice of the authority given to him sometimes in the first week of November, 2019.”

No one can stop me from talking – Aisha Buhari. #SocialMediaBill #HateSpeechBill.

Nigeria’s First Lady Aisha Buhari asserted that she can’t be stopped from talking while speaking from London on Thursday December 5.

The First Lady who was a guest caller on TVC’s Journalists’ Hangout, made a clarification on her comment about the social media bill, insecurity and poverty in the country and lashing out at underserving governors and ministers.

Aisha Buhari stated that she has the constitutional right to freedom of expression when asked if she has been told to stop talking. “Who will stop me? Everybody is talking in the country. Everybody should talk. It is freedom of speech”, she said.

On if she engages in pillow talk on the challenges facing the country with her husband President Buhari, the First Lady hilariously said “There is no pillow in the Villa including the other room”.

The President’s wife who stated that she knows that the challenges facing the country comes from a long-term neglect, maintained that she did not specifically blame the governors while speaking at the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs General Assembly and National Executive Council Meeting held at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday December 29.

“We are all suffering from it. Whether you are an executive or ordinary citizen. We can’t go to our villages and sleep with two eyes closed. It cuts across” she said.

Also commenting on her support for the social media bill, Aisha recalled how the Minister of Communications shared a story of someone calling to confirm if Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has resigned as claimed on social media. Though the First Lady said everyone in the room laughed over the story, she added that it was a serious issue and she expected action to be taken to curb such fake news.

“There are no consequences for offenders. You say anything you like and get away with it. We cannot have peace in such a society. Once there are no consequences, everybody does whatever he likes. Everything will be in disarray” Aisha added.

She also lashed out at some officials in her husband’s administration for taking up issues they are not concerned with. Recounting how the Presidency reacted to report of the PDP threatening to sanction former President Goodluck Jonathan over the party’s loss to the APC in Bayelsa Governorship election, Aisha Buhari wondered where the spin doctors were when report of her husband taking up a new wife went viral.

Things getting out of hands, people cannot afford portable water – Aisha Buhari Warns Govs, Mins, Sen, others.

The President’s wife, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has slammed state governors for failing to provide basic social amenities and infrastructure, noting that things were getting out of hand.

The wife of the President spoke at the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs General Assembly and National Executive Council Meeting held at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday.

She said, “We should either fasten our seatbelt or do the needful or we will all regret it very soon because, at the rate things are going, things are getting completely out of hand. The VP (Yemi Osinbajo) is here, some ministers are here, they are supposed to do justice to the situation.

“People cannot afford potable water in this country while we have governors. Since this is the highest decision-making body of Islamic affairs, for those that are listening, we should fear God, and we should know that one day, we will return to God and account for our deeds here on earth.”

Mrs Buhari also called for the regulation of social media, noting that China with about 1.3 billion people had done so, stressing that many people could not relax in their villages due to insecurity.

“On this issue of social media, you cannot just sit in the comfort of your house and tweet that the Vice President has resigned. It is a serious issue. If China can control over 1.3 billion people on social media, I see no reason why Nigeria cannot attempt controlling only 180 million people,” she added.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in his address admonished Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper regardless of their religious affiliation, noting that all Nigerians are equal.

Osinbajo said, “It is my view that the weight of ensuring that this country is on the right track is on our leaders. We should be our brother’s keeper no matter the religion. We should always be ready to make sacrifices for one another. We have religious and tribal tension in this country; many are beating the drum of ethnic and religious war. We are at a historic juncture of our nation.”

The NSCIA President and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, said the nation must come together to address its challenges, insisting that girl child education and the almajiri phenomenon must be addressed urgently.

He disagreed with the calls for social media regulation, stating that there were laws to deal with the abuse of the platforms.

Osinbajo spoke on the topic ‘The Role of Islam in the Development of a Multi-religious and Multi-ethnic Nation.’

FG begins Lagos-Ibadan free train ride
He said, “Nations are built by the sacrifices, hard work of leaders who do not care even if they are condemned by persons of their own religion or ethnicity, so long as they are confident they act in obedience to the oaths they swore and to the Almighty God.

The VP cited the example of President Muhammadu Buhari, whose tolerance, he said, portrayed how to promote religious harmony.

He added, “Every Sunday, my family and over 100 Christians attend service in the chapel at the Villa. The chapel is located on the premises of the President and his family. It is located a few seconds away from the First Lady’s kitchen.

“Sometimes, when I see the President on a Sunday morning, he asks me whether the service is over already or I am escaping from the service. That is the sort of tolerance that we need in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society and it is the duty of leaders to show that sort of example.”

First Lady, Aisha Buhari Declares Support For Regularization of the social media.

Aisha Buhari, Nigeria’s first lady, has thrown her weight behind the proposed social media bill being deliberated upon in the Nigerian senate.

While many Nigerians have kicked against it saying it is a ploy to gag Nigerians, the first lady in her submission, said the regularization of social media is needed to checkmate fake news.

Mrs Buhari who made her position known when she spoke at the General Assembly of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) in Abuja on Friday November 29th, said if China with could regulate social media, she sees no reason why Nigeria cannot.

“On this issue of social media, you cannot just sit in the comfort of your house and tweet that the Vice President has resigned. It is a serious issue. If China can control over 1.3 billion people on social media, I see no reason why Nigeria cannot attempt controlling only 180 million people” the Nation quotes her as saying

Speaking on the level of insecurity in the country, Mrs Buhari said if the needful was not done, Nigerians would regret the outcome of insecurity soon.

“I have listened to the speech of his Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, where he talked about justice, and the Minister of Communication talked about justice and injustice, and I think he did not mention the consequences of injustice.

The conference is timely, and this is the right time to address the problems in Nigeria, the problems have been escalating from one thing to the other. Thinking that General Muhammadu Buhari will solve it alone, he cannot do it alone, we have to work together to make sure that we do the needful, we as Muslims we operate within the guidelines of Islamic injunctions.

“We must do justice to ourselves. Most of us here, as a result of long-time of injustice done to others, today, most of us cannot go to our villages and sleep with our two eyes closed, we all know that and it is moving forward and forward.

“My husband has 3 years to go, we should fasten our seat belt, get up and do the needful or we will all regret it very soon, because, at the rate which things are going, things are completely out of hand, the Vice President is here, Ministers are here, they are supposed to do justice to whatever. People cannot afford portable drinking water in this country, we have ministers, we have governors.

“Since this is the highest decision-making body of Islamic affairs, for those that are Muslims, we should fear God and we know that one day we will return to God and account for our deeds here. I hope that the decisions, debates and engagements here today will be fruitful with the view of reaching realistic decisions for shaping our lives as a nation”, Aisha Buhari said.

We need Buhari’s religious tolerance, As first lady blames for lack of amenities and insecurities – Osinbajo.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged Nigerians to emulate President Muhammadu Buhari’s religious and ethnic tolerance.

The Vice President who said the Villa Chapel in Aso Rock, is located close to the first family’s kitchen stressed that level of tolerance should be a shining example to others in leadership position.

According to Osinbajo, “Every Sunday, my family and over 100 Christians attend service in the Chapel at the Villa. The Chapel is located in the premises of the President and his family. It is located a few seconds away from the First Lady’s kitchen. Sometimes when I see the President on a Sunday morning, he asks me whether the service is over already or I am escaping from the service! That is the sort of tolerance that we need in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society and it is the duty of leaders to show that sort of example.”

Vice President made the call at the formal opening of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) General Assembly/NEC Meeting, at the National Mosque on Friday, with the theme, “Islam and National Development.”

Osinbajo who noted that religious threats is real said: “Permit me to put the topic in context so that we do not miss the essence of the topic. So, I recast the theme to read as follows quote, “The Role of Islam in the Development of a Multi-religious and Multi-ethnic Nation.” This is the gravamen of the matter and I believe my brother, Isa Pantami (Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy who delivered the keynote address) did an excellent job.

“Decades ago in this same country, it would not have been a major topic. Leaders in the first republic did not consider religious intolerance as a major national issue, they were more concerned about the issues that touched everyone regardless of religion or ethnicity; they were concerned about providing food, shelter, education and decent livelihoods. But today, no true leader can ignore the threat that religious bigotry and intolerance poses for the development of our nation. That is just the way it is.

“But it is my respectful view that the burden of ensuring that faith promotes national development as opposed to impeding it is on leaders. This is the challenge I pose to you today.

“A few months ago, at an interfaith gathering, I told the story of an occurrence on the 20th of June 2018. Christians in their village Nshar Yelwa, Plateau State were attacked by a horde of persons who were said to be Muslims, who had attacked other villages and had killed several Berom farmers who were mainly Christians. As Imam Abdullahi was finishing mid-day prayers, he and his congregation heard gunshots and went outside to see members of the village’s Christian community running helter-skelter.

“Instinctively, the Imam ushered 262 Christians into the mosque and some into his home next to the mosque. The Imam then went outside to confront the gunmen. He refused to allow them to enter, pleading with them to spare the Christians inside the mosque and his home. When the assailants were adamant, he told them that they would have to kill him first if they were going to kill the Christians, he had given refuge. They eventually left without killing any of the Christians in the mosque or in his home. Imam Abdullahi’s selflessness and sacrifice saved the lives of hundreds of people of a faith different from his own.

“Imam Abdullahi not only refused to give up the Christians he had given refuge; he even offered his life in exchange for theirs. His moral courage is rooted in a profound recognition of our common humanity. His compassion, empathy and selflessness are an example to us as people of faith.

“Jesus Christ told a story somewhat similar to this. Someone had asked Him the question, “how could he attain eternal life?” And Jesus replied by asking him what the law said on the matter. The man responded that the law says “Love God with all your heart and mind and love your neighbour as yourself.” Jesus then said, “Good, you go and obey that law and you will live.” However, the man asked him, “But who is my neighbour?” Jesus then told him a parable which later came to be known as the story of the Good Samaritan.”

First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Buhari on her part charged political leaders to do more with a view to improving the lives of citizens through the provision of basic amenities as a catalyst for development.

The First Lady said the rising insecurity which was as a result of injustice, had made it impossible for some Nigerians to travel to their states and villages and live peacefully.

“I have listened to the speech of his Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, where he talked about justice, and the Minister of Communication talked about justice and injustice, and I think he did not mention the consequences of injustice.

“The conference is timely, and this is the right time to address the problems in Nigeria, the problems have been escalating from one thing to the other. Thinking that General Muhammadu Buhari will solve it alone, he cannot do it alone, we have to work together to make sure that we do the needful, we as Muslims we operate within the guidelines of Islamic injunctions.

“We must do justice to ourselves, most of us here, as a result of long-time of injustice done to others, today, most of us cannot go to our villages and sleep with our two eyes closed, we all know that and it is moving forward and forward.

“My husband has three years to go, we should fasten our seat belt, get up and do the needful or we will all regret it very soon, because, at the rate which things are going, things are completely out of hand, the Vice President is here, Ministers are here, they are supposed to do justice to whatever, people cannot afford portable drinking water in this country, we have ministers, we have governors.

“Since this is the highest decision-making body of Islamic affairs, for those that are Muslims, we should fear God and we know that one day we will return to God and account for our deeds here. I hope that the decisions, debates and engagements here today will be fruitful with the view of reaching realistic decisions for shaping our lives as a nation,” Mrs. Buhari said.

The First Lady also threw her weight behind the call for the social media space to be regulated, saying if China could control a population of over a billion, Nigeria shouldn’t struggle to control a population of 180 million people.

She said: “If China can control over one billion people, I see no reason why Nigeria cannot attempt controlling only 180 million people.”

Earlier, the President-General of NSCIA and Sultan of Sokoto, his eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, in his message said leaders must be accountable to the led and must demonstrate good example of humility and service. He advised leaders to do more on education, particularly to address the Almajiri System and girl-child education.

He commended the First Lady for the effort she is making to improve the lot of the common Nigerians through the various humanitarian activities of Future Assured Programme. He said her passion has led to opening up of discussion with the Council on the issue of divorce, which is becoming rampant and which has an impact on the welfare and well-being of children.

Dr. Isa Ibrahim Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, delivered a paper titled “The nexus between Islam and National Development”, where he emphasized that Islam is all about development.
