See how actress Eniola badmus reacted to people insulting her body fatness – (Check).

Actress Eniola Badmus is unbothered about comments made by bullies who are fat-shaming her body size.
The actress makes a note on Instagram on Saturday, October 12, 2019, in a bid to remind critics of her lack of concern regarding hurtful opinion.

She has grown a thick skin and can accommodate intimidating thoughts.
She wrote:
“Being called “fat” doesn’t bother me because it’s a simple fact. Yeah, I am fat. I have body fat. And what about it?

In September 2018, she points out in an interview with Vanguard News that there is more regard for plus-sized women in other parts of the world.
The actress considers the problem of getting fat-shamed is a Nigerian problem.
“Why is this being big an issue to people?
“It is only in Nigeria that big sizes are not appreciated, this is because most fat women are hiding under their shadows, they fail to realized the beauty in them, they lay low so as not to be mocked.
“I may or may not want to lose weight but everyone wants to be healthy. Must everyone be slim? It has never affected my career in any way.
“This is what has been working for me. It is not easy to be big and famous. I’m proud of myself and how far I have come.”

Think carefully before any offense – Putin warns Syria.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday urged his Turkish counterpart President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to “think carefully” before any offensive in Syria, the Kremlin said in a statement.

“Putin called on his Turkish partners to think carefully about the situation so as not to harm overall efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis,” the presidency said following a call between the two leaders and ahead of news of the launch of an offensive.

Stop Syria operations – EU ask Syria.

EU chief Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday demanded Turkey halt its military operation against Kurdish militants in northern Syria, telling Ankara the bloc would not pay for any so-called “safe zone” that might be created.

“I call on Turkey as well as the other actors to act with restraint and to stop operations already as we are speaking under way,” Juncker said at the European Parliament.

German City: At least, two people dead By gun bullet.

Policemen secure the area around the synagogue in Dresden on October 9, 2019. At least two people were killed in a shooting on a street in the German city of Halle, police said,/ AFP

At least two people were shot dead on a street in the German city of Halle on Wednesday, police said, with media and witnesses reporting that a synagogue and a Turkish restaurant were the targets.

“Early indications show that two people were killed in Halle. Several shots were fired,” said police on Twitter, urging residents in the area to stay indoors.

Police had earlier said the “perpetrators fled in a car” before saying later that one suspect had been caught.

It was not immediately clear whether there were other assailants.

The central train station has been closed while the area is under lockdown, rail company Deutsche Bahn said.

According to Bild daily, the shooting took place in front of a synagogue in the Paulus district, and a hand grenade was also flung into a Jewish cemetery. Police could not be reached immediately for confirmation.

Jews around the world were marking Yom Kippur, one of the holiest days in the Jewish calendar, on Wednesday.

An eyewitness, Konrad Roesler, told news channel NTV he was in a Turkish restaurant about 600 metres (yards) away from the synagogue when “a man wearing a helmet and military uniform” flung a hand grenade at the store.

“The grenade hit the door and exploded,” he said.

“(The attacker) shot at least once in the shop, the man behind me must be dead. I hid in the toilet and locked the door.”

Speaking to NTV, a police spokesman said the motive of the suspect or suspects was not clear.

“We don’t have any indication about the motive of this act.”

– ‘Big threat’ –
Wednesday’s shootings came three months after the shocking assassination-style murder of local pro-migrant politician Walter Luebcke in the western city of Kassel, allegedly by a known neo-Nazi.

Luebcke’s killing has deeply shaken Germany, raising questions about whether it has failed to take seriously a rising threat from right-wing extremists.

Investigators have been probing the extent of suspect Stephan Ernst’s neo-Nazi ties and whether he had links to the far-right militant cell National Socialist Underground (NSU).

Interior Minister Horst Seehofer last month warned of the rising danger of the militant far right, calling it “as big a threat as radical Islamism”.

Seehofer said that police had uncovered 1,091 weapons including firearms and explosives during probes of crimes linked to the far right last year, far more than in 2017 when 676 were found.

At the same time, Germany has also been on high alert following several jihadist attacks in recent years claimed by the Islamic State group.

Tax investigation made me want to leave Barcelona – Messi Admits.

Messi Admits Tax Problems Made Him Want To Leave Barcelona
Channels Television
Updated October 9, 2019

Lionel Messi has admitted he wanted to leave Barcelona when he was under investigation from the Spanish tax authorities but insists now he intends to finish his career at the club.

In an interview with Catalan radio station RAC1, Messi also said he had expected Neymar to sign for Real Madrid last summer after Barca failed to strike an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi and his father Jorge were found guilty of defrauding Spain of 4.1 million euros in taxes between 2007 and 2009, for which they paid close to 10 million euros and Messi was handed a 21-month suspended prison sentence.

Asked on Tuesday night if he had ever wanted to leave Barcelona, Messi said: “In 2013-14, when I started having the tax problems, it was very difficult for me and my family.”

“My children were young and we had a very bad time. At that time, I had it in mind to leave, not because I wanted to leave Barca but because I wanted to leave Spain. I felt mistreated and I didn’t want to be here anymore.”

The 32-year-old’s current contract expires in 2021 and Messi believes extending his deal “will not be a problem”.

“Today it is clearer that my idea is to finish here,” Messi said. “For how I am at the club, for what I feel, and for the family and the children and how settled we are in this city. I would not like to disrupt that.

“Of course anything can happen but in principle, the idea is to stay here.”

Messi began playing football aged six for Newell’s Old Boys, the Rosario club he supports in Argentina.

“I always dreamed of being able to play again for Newell’s and to have the experience of playing football in Argentina,” he said.

“But I have already told them that sometimes you have to think about what is best for your family.”

– No rift with Griezmann –
Messi was keen to be reunited with Neymar last summer but Barcelona were unable to agree a fee with PSG.

“I honestly thought at one time, especially in this market, that if he did not come here, he would go to Real Madrid Madrid because I thought he wanted to leave,” Messi said.

“I wanted Ney to come because as a footballer, he is one of the best in the world. He is unpredictable, different and having him in our team would have given us more options.”

Barcelona did sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, despite him rejecting the Catalans the year before. Messi denies suggestions of a rift between him and the Frenchman.

“The first year when we wanted to sign Griezmann, I said he was one of the best and that the best are always welcome,” Messi said. “I have never had problem with him coming. So it’s a lie.”

Messi also offered his support to Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde, who has been under pressure after a bumpy start to the season followed the team’s Champions League collapse against Liverpool in May.

“It was not the coach’s fault but it was also not my decision for him to stay,” Messi said. “The club decided Valverde would continue and for me that was a joy, good for stability and he is a coach we support and love.

“If another coach comes, we will be with him. To achieve success, we all have to be united.”

Messi scored his first goal of the season in a 4-0 thrashing of Sevilla on Sunday, after two months spoiled by calf and thigh injuries.

“I’m still a bit short but I’m feeling better,” Messi said. “My legs hurt against Sevilla but it’s what happens when you come back. I’m getting closer.”

2020 Budget: Nigeria Legislators Begin Hasty Debates.

Less than 24 hours after President Muhammadu presented the 2020 appropriation bill to the National Assembly, lawmakers in the Senate and the House of Representatives have opened debate on the budget proposal.

The lawmakers are currently making submissions on the bill with some warning of the consequences of the huge deficit and non-performance of revenue-generating agencies.

In the upper chamber, Senate Leader Yahaya Abdullahi is asking the upper chamber to enact or amend relevant laws to drive revenue generation while minority leader Enyinnaya Abaribe has strong words about the budget proposal describing it as unsustainable.

He explains that the budget has no focus and appeals to the senate president not to be in a hurry to pass it but to look at the facts on the ground.

But Senate Deputy Whip Abdullahi Aliyu disagrees maintaining that the budget indeed has a focus and that it is hinged on sustaining growth and job creation.

Apart from the budget debate, the Senate also confirmed the appointment of Adeleke Adewolu as an executive commissioner on the governing board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

In the House of Representatives, plenary commenced with representative Chinda Kingsley raising a point of order quoting order 12 rule 8.

He stated that the details of the appropriation bill is not contained in the bill and asks the house to suspend debate until the Minister of Finance submits the details of the house.

Kingsley was however ruled out of order by the Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila who explained that the general principles of the bill are to be debated and not the details.

King Sunny Ade – Ebenezer Obey and I often pretended to be fighting.

Popular Juju music superstar, King Sunny Ade who was perceived as Ebenezer Obey’s rival in the music industry, has disclosed that they always pretended to be at loggerheads.

According to KSA, the aim of their supposed face-offs was for their fans to enjoy their music even though their friendship began with a clash between their fans.

The 73-year-old singer added that it was their fans that always believed they were fighting. KSA told Punch;

It was the fans that believed we were always fighting. Obey and I had been friends since we began our bands and we are still friends till date. He started his band a year before me. Also, we pretended to be fighting in order for our fans to enjoy our music. Then, we used to play at night clubs, and where he was playing wasn’t far from where I played. I recall that the fans would go and disrupt his band, and later come to disturb us too. One day, I went to his (Obey) house to meet him behind closed doors.

I asked him how we could manage the situation, and he also asked for my suggestion. We both agreed to change the date of our performances at the club. He chose Thursdays while I maintained Wednesdays. Later, we also pretended to our seniors that we had a misunderstanding, so I invited Pa IK Dairo, Haruna Ishola, Adeolu Akinsanya and two others, to help settle the rift. For a long time, to avoid clashes of our fans, if I had a show, I would ask if Ebenezer Obey was going to be there. If they said yes, I wouldn’t go; and that was the same thing he did too. Our elders then told us there should be no more fight between us, and we should make records to appease our fans.

So, when I sang, he replied too. As the two of us were holding the meeting in his house, we just heard a bang on the door and somebody (Olabisi Ajala) was shouting that so the two of us were friends, yet we were pretending otherwise. We didn’t open the door but we had already agreed on how we would be doing things from then on. I have to thank God for his (Obey) life because he later got a call from God and became a cleric. The bottom line is that we have always been friends. We later advised young musicians that they don’t need to fight or destroy one another’s shows because of unnecessary rivalry.

Presidency – See why Buhari shunned retaliatory steps after xenophobic attacks.

The Presidency has revealed why President Buhari choose the path of diplomacy in the wake of the xenophobic attacks that affected many Nigerians in South Africa.

In statement released by President Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said the Nigerian leader acted wisely by not taking rash actions.

He added that President Buhari’s recent visit to South Africa was to deepen the ties with Nigeria and also to seek new ways in which the two countries and the continent at large can overcome the many problems confronting them.

“When some countries in the sub-region recalled their ambassadors and threatened to cut ties with South Africa following the xenophobic attacks, Nigeria under President Buhari, chose to act wisely by not taking rash actions,” Shehu said.

“There were doubts in many quarters on the continent, if the South African state understood early enough, the magnitude of the consequences of attacks on their own nation, and Africa as a whole.

“So for President Buhari, the approach was one of engagement, to assist the government and people of that country to overcome their problem, which by now had become our own, and Africa’s challenge.

“President Buhari set the right tone by sending a Special Envoy, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), to obtain first hand facts concerning the condition of Nigerians and to sensitize the South African leadership on the concerns of Nigeria and of the continent as well the implications of the attacks.

“After receiving a brief from the envoy, the President decided to proceed with an earlier planned visit, rather than abort it as some had suggested.

“That if the two largest economies can come closer and work together, they can help one another, and the continent at large to overcome the many problems confronting them. Where there is development, prosperity and jobs among Africans, the backward habits as embarrassingly witnessed in South Africa and reprisal attacks, including Nigeria, would have been avoided.

“President Buhari did not, therefore, see “an eye for an eye” or a tit-for-tat as a solution.(†In appreciation of this approach, many in African leadership, including the African Union have sent messages to the President, thanking him for his enlightened leadership and wisdom in dealing with the matter, and in particular for speaking for Africa.

“Arising from their discussions, both leaders condemned xenophobic violence and the reprisals. A solution to the typical violence, in their various pronouncements, lies in poverty eradication, jobs creation, crime prevention, observance of rule of law and lawful migration.

“The two Presidents directed their Foreign Affairs Ministers to give practical expression to the Early Warning Mechanism for prevention and monitoring platform.

“Closely linked to this is the issue of the large number of Nigerians incarcerated in South African prisons, their number still undetermined, and lack of communication from the authorities regarding the process and the status of these arrests.”

Gov. Babagana Zulum Call on 30 Clerics, see what they did. (Details)

30 Nigerian Islamic clerics who live in Makkah, Saudia Arabia have been “hired” to pray for peace in Borno state by Governor Babagana Zulum.

A statement released by the Borno Governor’s spokesman Isa Gusau, disclosed that the selected clerics from Borno, Katsina, Zamfara, Kano States and other parts of the northwest, have for decades devoted themselves to spending hours at the Ka’aba daily for the purpose of worship.

It is expected the clerics will permanently offer daily ‘Dawaf’ (circumambulation of the holy Ka’aba) for the return of sustainable peace in Borno and the country.

The statement reads in part;

“The critical move is aimed at combining different approaches that include sustained support for the Nigerian Armed Force; aggressive mass recruitment and equipping of more counter-insurgency volunteers into the Civilian Joint Task Force, hunters and vigilantes as well as socio-economic approach to enhance access to education, job opportunities and providing other means of livelihood through social protection initiative.

“Rather than sending anyone, I’m here, on behalf of the good people of Borno. I thank you so much for your empathy and the compassion in devoting yourselves to prayer for us every day at the Ka’aba which for us as Muslims, is the most sacred place.

“We need prayers more than ever before, we are handling our problem from different approaches. Prayer is key to everything that we seek.

“We will continue to seek prayers from many fronts. We will keep supporting our clerics of different faiths in Nigeria for prayers and we will seek the same from all of you that are always here around the Holy Ka’aba.

“I beg you to continue to pray for us towards achieving three things: first, for us to regain peace in Borno State, the north and Nigeria in general. We will have to continue to pray on a permanent basis because we need peace to be sustained.

“Secondly; we need prayers for us to achieve our ambitious plan for Borno State and lastly for Allah to make us remain focused and not to get carried away by power.”

Minimum wage: There’ll be no warning strike – Labour tells government.

The President of Trade Union Congress, Quadri Olaleye, said organised labour would not go on a warning strike before the main industrial action, if government failed to meet workers’ demand on the implementation of the new minimum wage by the close of work on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

In a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting of leaders of labour unions on Tuesday in Abuja, organised labour had said it would not guarantee industrial peace in Nigeria, if the Federal Government failed to hold a meeting with labour and accept its demand on the consequential salary adjustment arising from the new minimum wage.

Labour said it had demonstrated a great deal of restraint, consideration and patience with government in arriving at the demand of 29 per cent salary increase for officers on salary levels 07 to 14 and 24 per cent adjustment for officers on salary grade levels 15 to 17.

The communiqué said the alleged nonchalant attitude of the government negotiating side had dragged negotiations for consequential wages adjustment unduly, adding that Nigerian workers had exercised tremendous patience and restraint already.

In an interview with our correspondent on Friday, the TUC president said already, labour had begun to mobilise its members for industrial action before the Tuesday ultimatum issued to government.

He said, “We had already begun mobilisation of our members for an industrial action long before we made the pronouncement. We have given instructions on mobilisation to our members in the states and all council areas.

“If by October 16, government fails to do what we expect from it, we will start our action with a rally. On the second day (October 17), the strike will begin.

“We are not going to give any warning strike this time round. We have threatened to go on strike on many occasions. The public can attest to this through media publication and letters to government.”

Govt yet to contact us – JNPSNC

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, Alade Lawal, said despite the ultimatum issued, government had yet to contact labour on a date for a meeting.

He also berated government for taking too long to constitute a new team that would begin another round of negotiation with labour on the new minimum wage.

Lawal said, “If they want to constitute a new team, must that take a year? It takes less than a day to do that since supposed members are members of the government cabinet. As far as we are concerned, government has not reached out to us.”

Doctors will not strike –NMA

However, President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Festus Faduyile, has ruled out the possibility of doctors joining the strike. In an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Friday, Faduyile said the NMA sympathised with Nigerian workers on the failure of government to fully implement the new wage structure, but added that doctors would continue to cater for patients in various government hospitals across the country.

“It is not likely that we will go on strike but that does not mean that we do not stand with the organised labour on this matter.”

Our books on income, expenditure open, FG tells labour

The Federal Government has called on organised labour to send its representatives to look into income and expenditure books.

It said this became important because of the plan of labour to go on strike.

Minister of Labour and Productivity, Sen Chris Ngige, who spoke with one of our correspondents through its Special Adviser on Media, Mr Nwachukwu Obidiwe, said he had always taken the labour into confidence in all decisions taken on the issue of minimum wage.

He said with the situation of economy, everyone must be ready to make sacrifice.

He said, ‘‘The FG has promised to open its books to labour to come and look at its income and expenditure. They are free to send representatives to carry out the task. This time calls for sacrifice. Every step the minister has taken so far has been in the interest of the nation.’’

Chibok: BBOG demands release of other girls.

Members of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group are marking 2,000 days since the abduction of over 100 girls by the Boko Haram terrorist group in the Chibok community, Borno State.

The group is demanding the release of the remaining girls still held in the captivity of the terrorist group and also asking the Federal Government to make schools in the northeast safe.

In a statement, the group questioned the Federal Government’s efforts in the fight against Boko Haram and the increased rate of Kidnappings in the country.

It urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to live up to their responsibility in the protection of the lives and properties of its citizens.

Read Full Statement Below:

Today, Saturday, October 5th 2019 marks 2,000 days since 276 schoolgirls were abducted from Government Girls’ Secondary School Chibok, Borno State, Nigeria by terrorists on the night of April 14, 2014. 57 girls escaped within days of the abduction while 219 remained in captivity.

Five years on, an additional 107 girls have returned: 4 of them as a result of Nigerian military interventions, 21 released in October 2016 after negotiations with their captors and a further 82 set free by the terrorist group in May 2017. 2,000 days later, 112 of the #ChibokGirls abducted during an evil attack on humanity are yet to return.

Over the past 2,000 days, our #ChibokGirls have been denied their fundamental rights to freedom, for simply seeking an education on the path of growth and fulfillment they have been forced to suffer unimaginable horrors by enemies of humanity.

Their families and communities have also borne severe hardships within a war that continues to destroy lives and impede human progress. This nightmare continues to be the shame of a Nation and an open sore of the world that threatens to become ingrained within the darkest parts of our collective history.

Amidst these tragic circumstances, the reality is one in which the #ChibokGirls are supposedly represented by a government that repeatedly fails in its primary responsibility of the protection of lives.

Disturbingly, the government appears to be at ease amidst the troubles of the land, only concerned about protecting a fake-reputation that offers its citizens no value. To highlight this, we note with heartbreaking dismay, the incapacity, apathy and failed leadership displayed by the President and the Federal Government in the wake of the abduction of 6 students and 2 staff members of Engravers College in Kaduna on the 3rd of October 2019. This continues a distressing pattern of a failure to secure, preserve and dignify the lives of citizens.

To this end, the students and staff of Engravers College join a number of citizens who remain missing – including Leah Sharibu, Alice Ngaddah, Grace Taku and her colleagues as well as many others. How can we have continued this way?

Through this all, we stand, keep the faith and hold out the light for our #ChibokGirls and all others in captivity. Today and until they return, we demand #BringBackOurGirls

Eight people killed, seven injured in Rwanda, DR Congo Attack.

Unidentified gunmen killed eight people and injured 18 during an overnight attack in northern Rwanda near the border with DR Congo, police said Saturday.

The attack took place in Musanze district which attracts tourists because of its Volcanoes National Park and its mountain gorillas, they said.

Six people were killed with machetes or knives and the others were shot dead, a police statement said.

“Security forces were quick to provide emergency services to the residents of the area and investigations are still ongoing to find these terrorists,” it added.

The area has repeatedly been targeted by Rwandan rebels operating from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

One such group is the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, created by Rwandan Hutu refugees in eastern DRC after the genocide of Tutsis by majority Hutus in Rwanda in 1994.

The last attack by rebels in this region happened in December and resulted in the deaths of two Rwandan soldiers.
