As a longtime Bong Joon Ho champion, I was thrilled to see one of cinema’s finest and most unpredictable filmmakers recognized at the peak of his career, and on such a global stage.

I said yes; it is for us to turn our talk into action by preparing the sports facilities to be used for the event within the State.“In a few months, we will be super ready. We have seen on this pitch that everything is working; we only need to see what other infrastructure we need to bring to all our stadia as soon as possible. This process will be accelerated and it would signpost what will happen with other stadia across the country. Today is historical and we will go forward from here to do what is necessary for turning around the stadia. Our transaction advisor and relevant stakeholders will help us to accelerate the process.”The visit to the stadium by Sanwo-Olu and Dare came two months after FIFA delegates declared Lagos fit as one of the host cities of the competition. Sixth Finals: Shangai Masters, Daniil Medvedev Struggle to Reaching Finals.

Daniil Medvedev reached a staggering sixth final in a row as he defeated fellow rising star Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Shanghai Masters on Saturday.

The US Open finalist from Russia plays Alexander Zverev of Germany or Italy’s Matteo Berrettini in Sunday’s decider as the next generation takes centre stage in China.

The 23-year-old Medvedev, who has lifted three titles in a breakthrough 2019, beat Greece’s Tsitsipas 7-6 (7/5), 7-5.

Medvedev has now seen off the 21-year-old — who defeated world number one Novak Djokovic on Friday — in all five of their matches.

“It’s something I could never have dreamed of,” the world number four said of his sixth final on the trot.

“I want to keep the momentum going and hopefully make it to seven or eight.”

The history was with Medvedev but there was nothing in it as he and Tsitsipas entered the first-set tie break after 43 minutes of high-quality tennis.

Seventh-ranked Tsitsipas blinked first, gifting set point when he shanked a forehand and then doing the same moments later to put the Russian a set up.

Medvedev broke the Greek — who repeatedly tried to gee up the crowd — in the third game of the second set.

The Russian served for the match at 5-4, only for Tsitsipas to dig in and break for 5-5, before Medvedev did likewise.

Tsitsipas smacked the ball out the court in a rage, before Medvedev sealed the semi-final win in the 12th game of the second set.

“Same vibes, same thing all over again,” said Tsitsipas of yet another defeat to the Russian.

“I don’t mean to be rude at all, but it’s just boring.

“It’s so boring that I hate myself for putting myself into that kind of situation where I have to play in his own terms and not in my terms.”

BATN FoundationWealth Is Here Campaign Launched to Provide a Boost for Young Agripreneurs.

The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, venue of the launch of the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF)’s ‘Wealth is Here’ campaign, buzzed with activity, on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

The objectives of the campaign are well spelt out: create awareness of agri-preneurial opportunities in Nigeria, ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in the younger generation while also exposing them to agri-preneurial packages available from public and private institutions, and revive the spirit of patriotism in the youth. Ultimately, the initiative is aimed at changing the mindset of Nigerian youths and igniting the belief that they can flourish in Nigeria by seeking out and creating opportunities for themselves in agriculture.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Chairman, Board of Directors, BATN Foundation, Chief Kola Jamodu, while commending the BATN Foundation’s commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural development in Nigeria, said the campaign, which has the youth and agriculture at its core, seeks to engage young people in agriculture and turn their creative ideas to successful business enterprises.

“I am excited about this campaign because it has young people and agriculture at its core and rightfully so, because both agriculture and its human resources are the future and hope of Nigeria,” he added.

Chief Jamodu expressed confidence in the ‘Wealth is Here’ campaign which is in line with the economic strategies of the present and previous administrations to diversify the economy from oil and accelerate Nigeria’s economic development. He noted that “to drive agriculture, carefully thought out solutions and programmes must be articulated for the youth to get involved.”

Area Director, BAT in West Africa, Yarub Al-Bahrani, described the17-year journey of the Foundation since its establishment in 2002 as incredible, noting that it has seen it providing potable water, capacity building, and smallholder farmers’ support in rural locations.

He added that: “With an investment of over N1.6 billion in sustainable agriculture, the Foundation has reached over 36,000 farmers,” while regretting that “the impact has been threatened by mass migration of Nigerian youths to other countries that promise economic liberation.”

Al-Bahrani therefore urged that there is a need to begin by changing the narrative to one that is more inclusive of the youth.

“Our story of wealth and prosperity will be impossible without the active participation of young people who represent around 70 percent of the country’s population. The ‘Wealth is Here’ campaign is an initiative to change the narrative and rewrite our story. The campaign is about providing hope and, most importantly, creating multipliers in the economy for inclusive growth and shared prosperity,” he said.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Executive Director of BATN Foundation, Ms Abimbola Okoya, said that the initiative was created in the wake of the shocking exposé by the Cable Network News (CNN) on the Libya slave trade and recent reports of violent attacks on Nigerians living abroad. She remarked that the campaign would revive hope and patriotism in the Nigerian youth and most importantly inspire entrepreneurial interest in the agricultural sector.

Speaking on the activities of the BATN Foundation, Okoya observed that the Foundation reiterated its “commitment to support sustainable agriculture development through the unveiling of our development assistance framework – the 2022 country programme– and the pledge to invest N700 million towards the achievement of this mandate.”

oodwill messages were delivered at the occasion by guests who include: representative of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on the SDGs, Princess AdejokeOrelope-Adefulire, represented by Mrs. Olalade M. Olaopa; Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, Hon. AbikeDabiri, represented by Mr. Dipo Adebowale; the Executive Director, Bank of Agriculture (BOA), South-west, Mr Olabode Abikoye.

he highpoint of the launch was the award of financial grants towards the agribusiness establishment of the winners of the BATN Foundation’s Farmers for the Future project. The recipients were: Miss. Iyiola Taiwo (N5m), Miss. ChiamakaNdukwu (N1.5m) and Ms. Aniagolu Lucy Chioma (N1m)

What can we do without mom; Three crowns think of new way to impress mothers. (More Photos)

“What can we do without mums?” the trending campaign of Nigeria’s #1 healthy dairy choice, Three Crowns milk, highlights the ingenuity of mothers in resolving knotty issues in the family, especially as it concerns children.

The mum as a care giver is highly enriched and nourished by Three Crowns milk during family breakfast and this helps her save the day.

“What can we do without mums?” campaign has been trending since breaking in June with hundreds of tweets and millions of retweets, likes and comments on social media. For instance, reflecting on how realistic the commercial is, @Bashorun Gaa says his answer to the question has always been, “Ask mummy.”

For David Ludogoli @DLUDOGOLI, tact must be deployed in responding to our youngsters’ inquisitive minds in a bid to protect their innocence and save them from obscene words and pictures. Mum deploys tact in her response, saves the day, restores dad’s confidence and protects each child’s innocence.

Madam Kofo @Madamkofo observes, “Children ask the toughest questions. It’s their nature and no parent should be crossed with them. They are innocent and that’s surely an integral part of their development. That’s why we mothers have to be in the right mind frame and physically fit to have happy families; a focus the brand executed in the August meeting…

In August Nigerian women, particularly of Igbo descent by birth or marriage gather to celebrate, meet loved ones and most importantly, discuss issues affecting their local communities and general wellbeing. This has become a popular and memorable event in Southeast Nigeria.

To help Southeast women identify more with their heritage and values, Three Crowns milk, the number one low cholesterol milk brand from the stable of FrieslandCampina WAMCO has raised the bar in celebrating cultural awareness with Generation Z ladies and mothers to be. This underscores Three Crowns’ unflinching commitment to driving societal development through continuous engagement and support for women in Nigeria.

Specifically, Three Crowns milk has been adding colour, excitement, thrills and frills to the Women August Meeting since 2018 and has provided a fertile platform for the iconic brand to connect not only with women but also penetrate the rural market.

The Three Crowns August Meeting train landed at different locations in the Southeast states of Anambra, Ebonyi and Imo. The brand was at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Issekke; St. Jude Catholic Church, Azia and St. Martins Catholic Church, Odoata, Ihiala, all in Anambra State. Meanwhile, in Ebonyi, it was at St. Mary Catholic Church, Abakaliki; as well as celebrated with Afikpo Women Welfare Association, Edda and Ebonyi Women Welfare Association, Ugbodo.

In Imo State, Three Crowns was with the women at Onicha Amari Women Foundation Ekeoha, Mbaise; Ogbenneisi Women Development Union, Ahiazu, Mbaise; Umuchukwu Ubichukwu Women, Ngor Okpala; and Umuorii Women Association, Uratta, Owerri North.

Seriously?! What could be wrong?, Olamide, Naira Marley, and Rexxie Exempted From Headies Award.

If Zlatan being nominated with the new boys (Joeboy, Rema and Fireboy) surprised you, wait till you hear this.
Olamide wasn’t even nominated! Not only him, the artiste who has given us the most hits so far this year, I mean Soapy, Am I A Yahoo Boy and recently Puta, you know the artiste I’m talking about, guys, Naira Marley!

His producer who has also worked with him, Zlatan and Davido under the year in review, Rexxie were also not nominated 😳😳

What could be wrong?

Olamide for sure had a decent year. At least “Motigbana” would have made the Song of the Year or at least, Street Hop Single of The Year.

It wasn’t even there. “Oil and Gas” too didn’t do bad especially if you compare these two songs with the singles nominated in the category (Zlatan’s Leg Work and Chinko Ekun’s Able God), one of Olamide’s songs deserves to be there at least.

Is HipTV Owner Punishing Olamide?

Is Ayo Animashaun punishing him for what he did in 2015 during the Lil Kesh and Reekado Banks Next rated award confrontation?

Sorry I had to say this oooo, am just confused on why Olamide won’t even get a single nomination considering the series of hit songs he has released from 2018 to 2019.

No na, there’s something behind this.

What about Naira Marley and Rexxie?

Was it because of the fact that Naira Marley was detained for fraud by the EFCC?

This whole issue is complicated. Guys, what’s your take on this?

9ja 59′ Yemi Osinbajo (VP) entertains independence guest plus stories of Nigerian swags. (Details)

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday, Ocotber 1st at a dinner organised in commemoration of Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, thrilled the guests with visual descriptions of attributes that make Nigerians outstanding.

Osinbajo, who spoke on a lighter note, said that one of the distinct attributes of the Nigerian person was the `Nigerian Swag.’

He described `Nigerian swag’ as that uniquely confident way that made Nigerians to stand out everywhere and in everything they did. Osinbajo, who got the guests laughing and clapping intermittently, cited the sport called Bobsled and presented a power point video of Nigerians girls dancing at the Winter Olympics.

“They thought only white people could do this because it is a winter sport; if you don’t have winter and snow in your country you can’t be a bobsled champion. Well, so they thought until the Nigerians came to the Winter Olympics in Pyeong Chang South Korea, three Nigerian girls.

Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga the first Africans in Bobsled at the Winter Olympics. They raced into history in style and they ended it with dance. “How else would you know that they are Nigerians.’’
He said that the World Cup came in May 2018; but well before the World Cup kicked off, Nigeria had started winning. Osinbajo recalled that when Nike released the design of Nigeria’s jersey called Naija in Feb. 2018, three million people pre-ordered the Jersey for 90 dollar a piece on line.

He said that eventually thousands of people lined up to buy the jersey and it sold out in the stores within hours. “The jersey was lit; so lit that we won the first prize for the best dressed team, Peru came second and Belgium came third.’’

The vice president listed the quality and prowess of Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua, Nigerian wedding, dance and language as some other aspects of Nigerian uniqueness. 44

“And then there is Anthony Joshua, as far as we are concerned the best boxer in the world not only is he a heavy hitter– he could also pass for a model; so much Swag. “How about the Nigerian wedding, it has become the toast of the world, among other things, we are teaching the world that every wedding deserves a hashtag.

“#Baad 2017, for BankyW and Adesuwa Etomi, #YemiandDolly 1989 or #Dolyem 1989, that’s me and my lovely wife, to the dramatic entrance of the bridal party, and see the groom flying and of course, the Aso Ebi. “And everywhere, they are learning our languages; everywhere, here is a kindergarten class in China; the children are learning Igbo; very soon, everyone is going to be speaking Igbo.

“Our contemporary dances have so much swag from skelewu to sekem to shakiti bobo, sakusaku and the most recent, Zanku, I am sure you all know how to gbe se ..gbe se .to gbe body e. “It is now gbe se, gbe se, all over the world; nobody dances like us; it doesn’t matter whether you are the distinguished senator representing Kogi west or the distinguished senator representing Osun West.’’
Osinbajo also listed one of the richest men in Africa, Aliko Dangote, President Muhammadu Buhari, former President Olusegun Obasanjo as among those who carry Nigerian swag with their dance steps. According to him, when it comes to fashion, Nigerians are the masters of style.

“From the geles, and look at what Iya rainbow is wearing, and of course the famous Madam Kofo’s gele. Nigerians brought Ankara to mainstream fashion. So Nigerian designers are making waves internationally with the infusion of Ankara in their collections. And the likes of Lisa Folawiyo, Mackie O, Andrew Iyamah, Kenneth Ize, Mowa Ogunlesi, have been featured in Vogue and other international fashion magazines and events such as the New York fashion week.

“The Nigerian-American designer Ena Udemba designed Beyoncé’s drop dead gorgeous Ankara outfit; today the whole world is wearing our Ankara; from Michelle Obama, Rihana and Kim Kardashian‘’ he said.
He also displayed Buhari featuring with his `trade mark black kaftan’ describing him as the number one man with the swag.
