Luis Suarez has arguably been the best player in LaLiga Santander this season, but he has hit his first blip of the campaign, having failed to score in his last two games.
The Uruguayan started 2021 as he ended the previous year, scoring decisive goals against Getafe and Alaves, before netting seven goals in four games.
He is now without a goal in his last two outings, something that hasn’t happened since the start of the campaign after recovering from COVID-19, against Valladolid and Real Madrid.
His mini-drought is not down to any physical problem, as he has still been as active as ever inside the penalty area in his side’s last two games against Granada and Levante.
Suarez will be determined to help his side maintain or even extend their lead at the top of the table when they face Levante on Sunday.
However, the fact that the Madrid derby takes place after Atletico’s game against Villarreal which comes after Levante, Suarez could be tempted to pick up a fifth caution that would assure his availability against Zinedine Zidane’s men.
It remains to be seen what Suarez will do, although it is far from an easy situation given that Unai Emery’s side are no pushovers either, and Atletico will have to be at their best to defeat them.
