Court orders senator Abbo to pay N50M damages fee to ‘the woman’ he slapped.

Advertisements

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Senator Elisha Abbo “Slapping Senator” to pay N50 million damages fee to the woman he slapped in a s*x toy shop, few months ago.

Disclosing this on Monday, Lugard Tare-Otu and Nelson who identified themselves as Warmate’s lawyers, confirmed the situation.

CONTINUE READING;

Recall with Noble Reporters Media that Elisha Abbo who happens to be the youngest Senator in Nigeria, assaulted the owner of the shop he went to purchase some s*x toys by slapping and accusing her of poising her Air Conditioner.

This was because one of the ladies that accompanied him felt sick immediatly they entered the shop and she started throwing up.

The shop owner however replied the senator by saying that if the air conditioner was contaminated, others in the shop would have also taken ill.

Advertisements

This reply was said to have angered Abbo, and the two began exchanging words over the matter. The senator was said to have called a policeman who he then ordered to arrest the shop owner.

The shop owner quickly called her father to inform him that Abbo had called police over the matter and that she was about to be taken away.

The shop owner’s friend who had been standing nearby tried to intervene by pleading with the second man to take things easy but was slapped repeatedly by the lawmaker.

Senator Abbo however tendered an apology to the woman, days after the assault. He mentioned that regardless of the provocation, his action did not portray him a good ambassador of the Senate, the PDP and the youths of Nigeria.

Advertisements

In his words;

“It is with a deep sense of remorse and responsibility that I, Senator Ishaku Abbo profoundly apologize to all Nigerians, the Senate, the Peoples Democratic Party, my family as well as our mothers- the Nigerian women. “I personally apologize to Babra (the lady he reportedly assaulted) and her family for my action which has brought immense discomfort to our body polity.”

“l have never been known or associated with such actions in the past. Regardless of what transpired prior to my expression of anger, I am sincerely sorry and plead that all men and women of good conscience should have the heart to forgive me. To err is human, to forgive is divine.”

“To the Church of God everywhere in the world, I am sorry. As an Ambassador of Christ, much is expected of me. My family and religious upbringing do not give approval to such conduct and for this, as a leader, I seek forgiveness before God and all those who feel offended by my action. “

“Indeed, this episode has taught me a very great lesson both as a private citizen and a public officer particularly as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria upon whom public confidence is reposed.”

Singer Simi shares daughter’s reaction anytime she plays ‘Duduke’

Advertisements

Sensational singer, Simi has revealed on Instagram the impact that her song “Duduke” has on her daughter, Adejare and how she usually reacts to the song anytime it comes on.

According to the mother of one, although her daughter can not say how much she likes the song but her reactions every-time the song plays is always priceless.

The 33 year old also mentioned that the song is the biggest song of her career and she is grateful to God and her daughter for inspiring the beautiful song.

Read all she wrote below;

“I had the biggest song of my career, so far, in the craziest year of all our lives. “God” is the only explanation I will ever accept!

Advertisements

I played this song just now as I was breastfeeding my child, and she had dozed off for abt 20 seconds, but she suddenly perks up, raises her head, looks in my eyes and smiles at me. She stays that way for a bit and I was confused, so I go “what happened baby?” My mum says “it’s the song.” My heart skips. I mean she loves it when we sing to her or play her music, but her reaction was so specific tonight.

She knows her song. I’ve always felt that way because it’s what my mum plays to get her to calm down, and she must have heard it a thousand times while I was pregnant – but her reaction hit different today. I shared that to say this song wasn’t only good for my career or my fans or for other moms – most importantly, it makes my baby happy. I wrote it for her and she knows it. I don’t know if I can really explain how giddy that makes me.

Duduke has exceeded my expectations x 10000000 and I’ve genuinely never felt that way about any one of my songs before.
So I just wanna say “THANK YOU” to all the people that deserve the thanks, but especially to God and Adejare for inspiring me. And also to say we got 20 million views on Youtube. #GodisTheGreatest”

COVID-19: Global death toll passes one million.

Advertisements

More than one million people have died from coronavirus, according to an AFP toll, marking a grim milestone in the spread of the disease that has ravaged the world economy, inflamed diplomatic tensions and upended lives from Indian slums to New York City.

In the nine months since the virus was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan, schools, businesses, live entertainment, and international travel have been upended by strict stay-at-home measures designed to curb the contagion.

Advertisements

Drastic controls that put half of humanity — more than four billion people — under some form of lockdown by April at first slowed the spread, but since restrictions were eased, infections have soared again.

By Clever Advertising
By 1100 GMT Monday, the disease had claimed 1,002,036 victims from 33,162,930 recorded infections, according to an AFP tally collected from official sources by journalists stationed around the world, and compiled by a dedicated team of data specialists.

The United States has the highest death toll with more than 200,000 fatalities, followed by Brazil, India, Mexico and Britain.

Behind the figures lie millions of lives shattered by an illness that still holds many mysteries and which cannot yet be effectively treated or prevented, despite a global race to develop drugs and a vaccine.

Advertisements

For Italian truck driver Carlo Chiodi, the global mortality statistics include both his parents, whom he lost within days of each other.

“I saw my father walking out of the house, getting into the ambulance, and all I could say was ‘goodbye’,” Chiodi, 50, told AFP.

“I regret not saying ‘I love you’ and I regret not hugging him.”

‘A crisis like no other’
With new cases again surging worldwide, governments have been forced into an uneasy balancing act: virus controls slow the spread of the disease, but they hurt already reeling economies and businesses.

Advertisements

The IMF has warned that the economic upheaval could cause a “crisis like no other”, though the Fund’s outlook appears brighter now than it did in June.

Europe, hit hard by the first wave, is now facing another surge, with Paris, London and Madrid all forced to introduce controls to slow infections threatening to overload hospitals.

A million Madrid residents are under partial lockdown, with the city and the surrounding region at the epicentre of Spain’s second wave.

In Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman urged citizens to keep to strict hygiene measures.

Advertisements

“The development of infection numbers is of great concern to us,” Steffen Seibert said. “We can see from some of our European friends where that could lead.”

Masks and social distancing in shops, cafes and public transport are now part of everyday life in many cities around the world.

Mid-September saw a record rise in cases in most regions and the World Health Organization has warned virus deaths could even double to two million without more global collective action.

Infections in India, home to 1.3 billion people, surged past six million on Monday, but authorities pressed ahead with a reopening of the battered South Asian economy.

The virus initially hit major metropolises including financial hub Mumbai and capital New Delhi but has since spread to regional and rural areas where healthcare systems are even more fragile and patchy.

Santosh, a student in Delhi, said the virus was now “part of our lives”.

“You cannot shut down every business, because the economy cannot collapse… Covid-19 is not going to pay the rent.”

Currently, nine vaccine candidates are in last-stage clinical trials, with hopes some will be rolled out next year.

Waking up to Covid-19
The SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the illness known as Covid-19 made its first known appearance in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, ground zero of the outbreak.

How it got there is still unclear but scientists think it originated in bats and could have been transmitted to people via another mammal.

Wuhan was shut down in January as other countries looked on in disbelief at China’s draconian controls, even as they went about their business as usual.

By March 11, the virus had emerged in over 100 countries and the WHO declared a pandemic, expressing concern about the “alarming levels of inaction”.

Advertisements

The least privileged around the globe have been the hardest hit by the breakneck spread of the virus, which has also infected some among the powerful, rich and famous.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson spent a week in the hospital. Madonna and Tom Hanks also tested positive.

The Tokyo Olympics, Rio’s Carnival and the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca are among the major events postponed or disrupted by the pandemic.

Some major sports tournaments have resumed but with empty stadiums — such as Premier League football in England — or highly restricted spectator counts. The French Open is limiting access to 1,000 tennis fans a day.

Advertisements

As the restrictions tighten, protests and anger are rising as businesses worry about their survival and individuals grow frustrated about their jobs and families in the face of another round of curbs.

Authorities have clashed with anti-lockdown protesters around the world, while the blame for the disease and its consequences has led to increased tensions between the United States and China in particular.

Along with the turmoil, though, lies some hope, with Wuhan now appearing to have controlled the disease.

“Life has returned to the kind of flavour we had before,” resident An An said. “Everyone living in Wuhan feels at ease.”

Gist+: Kunle Afolayan apologizes to Mike Ezuruonye.

Advertisements

Award-winning movie maker and actor, Kunle Afolayan, has tendered a heartfelt apology to his aggrieved colleague, Mike Ezuruonye, after sharing an incriminating screenshot which implyed he was fraudulent.

According to Kunle, the actor had him misunderstood as he never intended to put him in the bad light.

“While I did not see my innocent reaction to an indicting post by a random IG follower as capable of further hurting my friend and colleague, Mike Ezuruonye, to be labelled a tribalist in retaliation is very unfortunate,”
“Honestly, I was misunderstood,”
“My reaction, which was rather spontaneous, was to chide the IG follower who appeared to be reporting the actor to me. And I merely asked (in Yoruba) how all of that was my business. It was like saying ‘when did I become an officer of the law’. Obviously, my colleague took the context of my post wrongly and angrily accused me of tribalism.
“I do not know what gave birth to such misrepresentation. However, while I am famous for living and promoting everything that my tradition stands for as a Yoruba man, I have maintained a mutual friendship with people of other extractions, Igbos especially. It is therefore not in the interest of both of us (Mike Ezuruonye and I) to politicise our emotion with tribal colouration. For me, this is undeserving of our other friends, and goes to offend the sensibility of genuine relationships we have each cultivated with people of other tribes.”
On how he has been promoting inter-tribal relationships through his works, Afolayan says the facts are there for all to see.
“The ideals are reflected in the themes and plots of my movies, some of which include; The Figurine, The Bridge, Phone Swap, Omugwo, and Roti.”
The movie maker futher said he has offered an olive branch on the matter. “I have told Mike ‘I’m sorry’ since he found my post offensive. I am also apologising to anyone who also may have seen things from his point of view. Ire o.” He wrote;

Storyline: Mali gov’t nominates new PM

Advertisements

Mali’s transitional president appointed former minister of foreign affairs, Moctar Ouane, on Sunday as the West African nation’s prime minister days after being sworn into office.

The appointment of a civilian prime minister was a major condition imposed by the West African regional economic bloc, ECOWAS, on Mali to lift sanctions that were imposed after an Aug. 18 coup. ECOWAS had closed borders to Mali and stopped financial flows to put pressure on the junta to quickly return to a civilian government.

Former Defense Minister and retired Col. Maj. Bah N’Daw was inducted Friday as the new transitional president while Col. Assimi Goita, head of the junta that staged the coup, was installed as Mali’s new vice president. The three government heads are to lead the transitional government to an election in 18 months.

The appointment of Ouane, 64, was made by official decree Sunday and signed by N’Daw. Ouane was minister of foreign affairs from 2004 to 2011 under former President Amadou Toumani Toure. He also served as Mali’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1995 to 2002 and later as a diplomatic adviser to ECOWAS.

The junta, which calls itself the National Committee for the Salvation of the People, deposed President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita in August, detaining him, the prime minister and other government officials. Keita, who became ill, was eventually released and has gone to the United Arab Emirates for treatment.

ECOWAS became involved in negotiations that have pressed for a quick return to civilian rule.

U.N. officials have called for the release of the 13 of the 18 detained officials still being held at the Kati military camp in the Malian capital of Bamako.

There has been widespread concern that the upheaval in Mali will set back efforts to contain the country’s growing Islamic insurgency. After a similar coup in 2012, Islamic extremists grabbed control of major towns in northern Mali.

Only a 2013 military intervention led by France pushed extremists out of those towns and the international community has spent seven years battling the militants.
