Real Madrid are interested in signing free agent Edinson Cavani this summer following his departure from the French capital.
The Uruguayan forward is a free agent after letting his contract at Paris Saint-Germain run down and failing to secure a proposed move to Portuguese club Benfica due to wage demands.
Real Madrid will, however, consider signing the 33-year-old if they are able to sell out of favour Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The two strikers have failed to impress under manager Zinedine Zidane and could be offloaded to make way for Cavani.
Cavani is said to have agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants back in January, however, a deal never materialised as PSG demanded a €30m transfer fee, which Madrid were unwilling to pay.
Marca have reported that the striker has been ‘enthusiastic’ about moving to the Spanish capital.
Madrid are not the only side vying for Cavani’s signature after he scored 200 goals in 301 games for Ligue 1 champions PSG and 104 goals in 138 matches for Napoli.
Leeds are among those interested, having previously drawn up an ambitious plan to bring him to Elland Road following promotion to the Premier League.
