COVID-19: Benue committee VC dies

The vice chairman of the Benue Action Committee on COVID-19 is dead.

Prof. Godwin Achinge, who was also deputy vice chancellor of the Benue State University, had earlier tested positive for coronavirus.

He died on Sunday afternoon at an undisclosed hospital in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

No official statement yet on the death, the state Commissioner for Information and member of the State Action Committee on COVID-19, Ngunan Addingi, said she would confirm from Dep. Gov. Benson Abounu who chairs the committee.

The state governor himself, Samuel Ortom, his wife, son, and a domestic staffer have tested positive for the virus.
