3-0: Mario Pasalic Gets Serie A’s Atalanta in winning days, dominated Brescia.

Mario Pasalic scored twice to get Atalanta back to winning ways with a 3-0 Serie A victory in a Lombardy derby at Mario Balotelli’s struggling Brescia on Saturday.

Pasalic nodded in the opener on 26 minutes, before grabbing a second after an hour with Josip Illicic firing in a late third to end Atalanta’s four-match winless run in the league.

The Bergamo side, boosted by claiming their first ever Champions League win against Dinamo Zagreb in midweek, are now level on points with fourth-placed Cagliari and Roma, who play later this weekend.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side had not won in Serie A since their 7-1 victory over Udinese a month ago.

“There was a bit of fatigue, we were scraping the barrel in terms of energy,” said Gasperini.

“I shouted at the players a few times to try to spur them on to close down the game.

“The Champions League doesn’t detract, on the contrary it gives us a lot.

“We’re facing teams used to being protagonists in their championships, used to attacking.

“We’re more tired, but we are training at a higher level and getting used to it.”

Italy forward Balotelli returned to the Brescia line-up having being dropped last weekend for his lack of commitment in training.

But apart from hitting the crossbar on 55 minutes, Balotelli rarely threatened as the promoted side fell to their sixth consecutive defeat to stay rooted to the bottom of the table.

The match was the first since the publication of a letter on Friday signed by the country’s 20 top-flight clubs saying “basta” (that’s enough) to racism in Italian stadiums.

Balotelli has been targeted by racist abuse since returning to Italy to play for his hometown club this season.

Atalanta dominated, with Pasalic connecting with a Timothy Castagne cross to head in early on.

The midfielder then scored his fourth goal of the season, having also netted against Manchester City and Udinese, with a back-heel flick from an Ilicic cross.

Slovenian Ilicic broke through for the third two minutes into injury time.

Security personnels have been deployed to katsina airport and other airports – FAAN.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria on Saturday confirmed the deployment of security personnel to Katsina airport and other airports across the country.

Although it was silent on the number of personnel deployed to the Katsina airport, it said the total number of FAAN Aviation Security officers deployed to Nigeria’s 22 airports under the authority’s management was over 700.

An online media report on Saturday claimed that 120 personnel were deployed to the Katsina airport alone.

But the spokesperson of FAAN, Henriatta Yakubu, said the authority deployed personnel based on the needs of each airport.

“The deployment was based on the need of each particular airport and I can’t give or confirm the numbers deployed to each airport right now,” she told our correspondent.

In September, Media reported that in a bid to boost security at Nigerian airports, the Federal Government through FAAN trained and deployed 727 Aviation Security and firefighting officers to airports.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said the Federal Government would continue to improve on safety and security at the nation’s airports through training and capacity development of staff, in line with the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

1-0: Shocking defeat ad Chelsea got trashed by West Ham United in the EPL.

Aaron Cresswell eased the pressure on Manuel Pellegrini as the West Ham defender fired his struggling side to a shock 1-0 win at Chelsea on Saturday.

Pellegrini was reportedly given two games to save his job this week, but the Hammers boss might have earned much-needed breathing space with a first win in eight Premier League games.

It was West Ham’s first victory at Stamford Bridge in 14 visits dating back to 2002.

The Hammers had lost their last three matches, increasing the speculation that former Manchester City manager Pellegrini was set for the sack.

Now Pellegrini goes into Wednesday’s trip to Wolves with renewed hope of avoiding the axe after West Ham moved six points clear of the relegation zone.

Inflicting a second successive Premier League defeat on Chelsea made the hard-fought result even sweeter for West Ham fans.

After last weekend’s loss at Manchester City, fourth-placed Chelsea’s momentum has stalled a little following one of the least coherent displays of Frank Lampard’s maiden season in charge.

West Ham’s slump has coincided with the poor form of reserve keeper Roberto following an injury to first-choice Lukasz Fabianski.

Pellegrini finally lost patience with Roberto after he conceded nine goals in his last three games, handing 33-year-old David Martin his debut after his pre-season move from Millwall.

It proved a successful gamble and Martin cried tears of joy after keeping a clean-sheet on his first top-flight appearance.

When Martin was called into action for the first time, his save from Mason Mount’s low drive drew extra loud cheers from the West Hams crammed into the Shed End behind him.

Chelsea were dominating possession without finding the final touch needed to break down West Ham’s massed defence as Christian Pulisic headed Pedro’s cross wastefully over.

Martin then misjudged Reece James’ deflected cross and watched in panic as it clanged off the near post, with the resulting corner headed woefully wide by Kurt Zouma.

– Lack of cutting edge –
Despite Chelsea’s territorial superiority, they remained creaky at the back.

No top-10 team had conceded more than the 19 goals Chelsea had allowed heading into the latest round of fixtures.

Pellegrini’s men almost took advantage of the holes in Chelsea’s defence when Robert Snodgrass swung over a cross and Michail Antonio found space for a diving header that Kepa Arrizabalaga pushed away at full stretch.

Martin fumbled Mateo Kovacic’s long-range effort before recovering quickly to block Olivier Giroud’s attempt to knock in the rebound.

With Tammy Abraham ruled out with a hip injury suffered in the midweek Champions League draw at Valencia, Giroud was making his first start since August 18.

But the France striker was totally anonymous for long periods and Chelsea lacked a cutting edge as a result.

When James whipped over a teasing cross, Giroud arrived too late to make contact and Pulisic, just behind him, scuffed it wide to cap a frustrating half for Chelsea.

There was even more angst for Chelsea after the interval as a penalty appeal for handball against West Ham’s Fabian Balbuena was turned down before the visitors snatched the lead in the 48th minute.

Felipe Anderson and Pablo Fornals worked the ball wide to Cresswell on the edge of the Chelsea area and the left-back tricked James with a clever cut-back before curling a fine finish into the far corner.

Chelsea’s defensive vulnerability had been laid bare and the Hammers nearly capitalised again when Balbuena’s header from Snodgrass’s corner was saved by Kepa.

As Chelsea ran out of ideas, Antonio thought he had doubled West Ham’s lead when he bundled in Snodgrass’s cross, but VAR disallowed the goal for handball by the forward.

It didn’t matter as West Ham held firm in the closing stages to win for the first time since beating Manchester United on September 22.

Virgil Van Dijk Strikes Celebrates His Goal As 10 Man Liverpool Trash Brighton.

A first-half brace from Virgil van Dijk lifted Liverpool 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League in a 2-1 win over Brighton that was filled with drama after the sending off of home goalkeeper Alisson.

The Brazilian was dismissed on 76 minutes as he raced out of his area to handle an attempted chip by Brighton substitute Leandro Trossard.

Spanish replacement Adrian came on but his first act was to pick the ball out of the net as Lewis Dunk rolled the free-kick past the Liverpool wall and an unprepared goalkeeper.

The loss in midweek of influential midfielder Fabinho had taken the gloss off a successful period for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with an ankle injury ruling the Brazilian out for six weeks.

But the mood around Anfield before kick-off was certainly lifted when news came through from the north-east that their rivals Manchester City had unexpectedly dropped two points at Newcastle.

It did not take long for that mood to improve still further as Liverpool set about their task of attempting to move 11 points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side, the defending champions and the team still seen as their greatest challengers.

It took 18 minutes for Klopp’s men to take a deserved lead after Pascal Gross fouled Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain outside the Brighton area.

Trent Alexander-Arnold floated in the perfect free-kick and van Dijk rose powerfully above Adam Webster to head in his second goal of the season and first since the opening day of the season.

It did not take as long for van Dijk to wait for his third of the season — six minutes to be precise — as Brighton failed to learn from conceding the opener and allowed the same combination to double the lead.

This time it was from a left-wing corner as Alexander-Arnold delivered a perfect centre and the Dutch defender rose magnificently to beat Dunk and power a bullet header past a helpless Mat Ryan.

In between, van Dijk might have found the back of the net again, only this time his own, as he sliced a Davy Propper cross that flew inches wide of Liverpool’s far post.

But that was a rare moment of respite for Brighton, whose poor set-piece defending had left them facing a near-impossible task against a Liverpool side unbeaten in home league games since Crystal Palace beat them in April 2017, 951 days ago.

Ryan had already made three key saves to keep his side in contention, two from Roberto Firmino and another from Sadio Mane.

But, as the half progressed, there were moments of concern for a Liverpool side without a clean sheet in 11 games.

Jordan Henderson filled the absent Fabinho’s holding midfield position although he could not prevent the visitors from creating a couple of glorious openings late in the half as Propper was denied by Alisson and Dunk missed the target, unmarked, from 12 yards.

There were similar glimmers of hope for the visitors early in the second half, Dunk glancing a header wide and Aaron Connolly shooting straight at Alisson before Liverpool began to threaten on the counter-attack.

In the late drama that followed Alisson’s dismissal, Brighton pressed for an equaliser.

Adrian saved well from Aaron Mooy but almost fumbled a header from Gross into his own goal.

Former Minister Of Education Says ‘Human Trafficking In Nigeria Is Calling For Alarm.’

A former Minister of Education in Nigeria, Professor Chinyere Obaji, has raised the alarm over high rate of trafficking in persons in Nigeria, noting many Nigerians are trafficked daily in the country.

She rang the alarm bell in Abeokuta at the opening of a three day training programme for 74 teachers selected from Colleges of Education across the southwest, on the infusion of TIP issues into the Minimum Standards for Nigeria Certificate of Education.

The training of trainers programme was organised by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) in collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Obaji, who is also a Consultant to ICMPD, explained that issues of human trafficking in Nigeria had become a serious social menace which required drastic solution.

She, however, declared that the best way to curb the menace is through education, hence the need to train the teachers in partnership with NAPTIP.

Her words: “We’re here because of a very serious matter; trafficking in persons. It’s a global issue but unfortunately for us, Nigerians are also being trafficked and most of the people being trafficked, their organs are harvested and for the girls, they become sex objects to people that are not of their choice.

“Luckily for us in Nigeria, the International Centre For Migration Policy Development which is funded by the EU and have Nigerians working in this organisation felt worried about the issues of trafficking in persons. And they also felt that the best way to curb the menace is through education, so they worked with NAPTIP and the National Commission for Colleges of Education, to work out a methodology on how TIP issues will be integrated into the minimum standards of NCE”.

The Acting Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, NCCE, Mchviga Abelega, said the Commission had been collaborating with the ICMPD to mainstream teaching Trafficking in Persons issues into their minimum standard curriculum.

He disclosed that no fewer than 178 teachers from 21 federal, 48 state and the remaining from private colleges of education would eventually be trained throughout the country.

The Senior Project Manager, ICPMD West Africa Office, Mojisola Sodeinde, noted “this programme is our response to the request that we got from NAPTIP, to help develop a curriculum to use in our schools to raise awareness on human trafficking”.
