Diane evicted through an unlucky draw, Frodd got the blame. (Reasons)

Big Brother Naija Housemate, Diane has left the House after being randomly picked out from an unlucky draw.

The Task of picking Diane to leave was performed by Frodd as the second and final part of the privilege of his Ultimate Veto Power. The choice wasn’t entirely in his hands as he had to randomly pick from a magic hat.

To get the ball rolling, the Housemates were asked to fetch all their remaining Bet9ja Coins including the big gold Bet9ja Coin they were each given four weeks ago. The Housemates were asked to drop all their Bet9ja Coins in the magic hat except the big gold ones. Their ordinary Bet9ja coins had become redundant at this point. It was a good thing some of them spent theirs when they did.

Diane and Omashola wrote their names on their gold Bet9ja coins and dropped it in a magic hat with the rest of the Coins leaving Frodd with the final Ultimate Veto job of picking which Housemate to go home through an unlucky draw. It was a tense moment in the House as Frodd reached into the sac picking again and again till he eventually picked Diane.

The Final Five

After yesterday’s Eviction that saw Ike and Elozonam leaving, the Pepper Dem Gang were left with six Housemates and the Finale only had slots for five so someone had to leave. But before the process started, a few of the Pepper Dem Gang were assured of their presence in the Finale. Seyi, by virtue of winning the Head of House the previous week, secured a spot for himself in the Finale. The Immunity Mercy bought got her sitting pretty in the Finale while Mike’s public save during the Live Eviction Show guaranteed him a spot in the Finale. Diane and Omashola were the only two left without a guarantee so the decision had to be made between the two of them on who will bid the House goodbye.

(Detail below) Celebrating independence where lives aren’t secured, no earn means is a waste of time – Man announced.

Mr. Dennis Omogiate in an interview with Newsworthy3.news.blog give the reason why Nigerians shouldn’t celebrate tomorrow’s independence day but rather think of what will make the country progress.

He said the only positive effect it can bring is only when the leaders and citizens take to moral as a day for sober reflection, to think about how the ex-Giant of Africa has mightily fallen. After which they would look for any possible means to prevent past errors from occurring again.

If our leaders are wise, we wouldn’t celebrate tomorrow because we have nothing to celebrate about, he said.

Nigeria, although free from the colonial masters and getting into bondage where lives and properties are no more secured, where earns means (money) is almost impossible, there is nothing to celebrate about, Mr. Dennis narrated.

Therefore, the only positivity tomorrow holds is for both the leaders and the subjects (followers) to sit and take some moments to decide if Nigeria would move or remain static in development. He deduced.

Thanks.

Revolution will happen whether you like it or not – Sowore omoleye.

Sahara Reporters publisher and convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, has said that “the revolution” in Nigeria will happen whether the government likes it or not.

Sowore who narrated his experience in detention said he has been held out of touch with the real world.

In his words, “I haven’t been in touch with my lawyers. I don’t know the charges they are bringing against me. I am not allowed to see sunshine. I’ve not been outside except today. I am happy people are staying strong.

I have no doubt this will come to an end in favour of the Nigerian people. Whether you like it or not, the revolution will happen. It is only a matter time.”

Sowore alleged that his shoulder was injured by the DSS operatives who arrested him in Lagos on August 3rd.

“I have a bad shoulder which they broke during my arrest. They gave me no access to telephone. No TV. No newspapers. Nothing.

What is interesting is that Boko Haram commanders who are engaged in high level terrorism have access to telephone, TV and even cable in their cells.

So you wonder which one is better: a freedom fighter or a terrorist.”

Champion and undefeated American boxer, Deontay wilder challenged a rematch with cuba luis. (Details).

Undefeated American boxer, Deontay Wilder is set for a rematch with Cuba’s Luis Ortiz on November 23rd, in Las Vegas United States, in what will be the third defence of his World Boxing Council heavyweight crown in a year.

According to the organisers and promoters, the November 23rd matchup at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas gives 40-year-old southpaw Ortiz a chance to avenge his loss to Wilder in a 10th-round stoppage in March 2018 in his only prior world title bout.

“When I fought Ortiz, not only did he have the pedigree, but also he had the classification of being the boogeyman of the division.

I agree with those who say that Luis Ortiz was my toughest fight to date. No one wanted to fight him and they still don’t. In the rematch there’s more confidence and more motivation to do what I have to do.

“I’ve already seen the style before. It’s going to make it more fun. I can’t wait to see how he tries to handle me when I’m at my best” Wilder said.

The card also features Mexico’s Leo Santa Cruz, the reigning World Boxing Association featherweight champion, fighting compatriot Miguel Flores for the WBA super featherweight crown, trying to become a champion in his fourth different weight class.

Wilder, 41-0 with one drawn and 40 knockouts, will turn 34 in October before facing Ortiz, 31-1 with 26 knockouts. In their first matchup at Brooklyn, Wilder knocked down Ortiz in the fifth round, was stunned by the Cuban in the seventh but battled back to drop Ortiz again with a powerful right uppercut in the 10th to end the fight.

It will be the 10th time Wilder defends the title he won by unanimous decision over Canada’s Bermane Stiverne in January 2015. Wilder will be making his third defense in just over 11 months, having settled for a draw with Britain’s Tyson Fury last December before knocking out countryman Dominic Breazeale in May.

Ortiz has won three fights since losing to Wilder, the most recent a 10-round decision over Romanian Christian Hammer in March. “I have to give Deontay Wilder a lot of credit for taking this fight because it shows he has the heart of a true champion,” Ortiz said.

Song Lyrics

[Intro: SAINt JHN & Blue Ivy Carter]
Brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
Never trade you for anybody else
Singin’ brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
I never trade you for anybody else, singin’…

[Verse 1: Wizkid]
She said she really grew up poor like me
Don’t believe in nothin’ but the almighty
Just a likkle jeans and a pure white tee
She never did forever be nobody wifey, yeah
So while I may not pretty boy, your heart is amiss
Play it like a villain ’cause she caught in a wave
Tonight I am walkin’ away
9 to 5 mind, on the grind, yeah, yeah

[Pre-Chorus: Wizkid]
Tonight I might fall in love, dependin’ on how you hold me
I’m glad that I’m calmin’ down, can’t let no one come control me
Keep dancin’ and call it love, she fightin’ but fallin’ slowly
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told me

[Chorus: Wizkid]
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
Your back against the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
The best thing in all the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say

[Verse 2: Beyoncé]
Pose like a trophy when Naomis walk in
She need an Oscar for that pretty dark skin
Pretty like Lupita when the cameras close in
Drip broke the levee when my Kellys roll in
I think tonight she might braid her braids
Melanin too dark to throw her shade
She minds her business and wines her waist
Gold like 24k, okay

[Pre-Chorus: Wizkid & Beyoncé]
Tonight I might fall in love, dependin’ on how you hold me
I’m glad that I’m calmin’ down, can’t let no one come control me
Keep dancin’ and call it love, she fightin’ but fallin’ slowly
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told me

[Chorus: Wizkid & Beyoncé]
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
Your back against the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl, ya skin just like pearls
The best thing in all the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say

[Verse 3: Beyoncé]
Oh, have you looked in the mirror lately? (Lately)
Wish you could trade eyes with me (Because)
There’s complexities in complexion
But your skin, it glow like diamonds
Dig me like the earth, you be giving birth
Took everything in life, baby, know your worth
I love everything about you, from your nappy curls
To every single curve, your body natural

Same skin that was broken be the same skin takin’ over
Most things out of focus, view
But when you’re in the room, they notice you (Notice you)
‘Cause you’re beautiful
Yeah, you’re beautiful

[Pre-Chorus: Beyoncé]
Them men, them gon’ fall in love with you and all of your glory
Your skin is not only dark, it shines and it tells your story
Keep dancin’, they can’t control you
They watchin’, they all adore you
If ever you are in doubt, remember what mama told you

[Chorus: Beyoncé & Wizkid]
Brown skin girl (Brown skin girl), ya skin just like pearls (Brown skin girl)
Your back against the world (Oh)
I never trade you for anybody else, say (No, no)
Brown skin girl (Brown skin girl), ya skin just like pearls (Brown skin)
The best thing in all the world
I never trade you for anybody else, say

[Outro: Blue Ivy Carter]
Brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
I never trade you for anybody else, singin’…

The Dongfeng is a nuclear-armed missile that could reach the US in 30 minutes, and military analysts believe that the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army- the second largest military spender in the world after the US, could be emboldened to make more claims in the South China sea and even possibly invade Taiwan or Hong Kong, after showing off these weapons.

The parade on Tuesday will include 580 pieces of military equipment,15,000 troops and more than 160 aircraft according to Ministry of Defence spokesman Major General Cai Zhijun.

According to Zhijun, many new weapons “will be shown for the first time,” When asked whether that would include the Dongfeng 41, he said: ”Please wait and see.”

In 2018, spending on the PLA rose 5 per cent to $250bn (£228bn), or about 10 times its 1994 level, according to Sipri. The United States, with a force of 1.3 million, was far ahead at $650bn.

“China has developed nuclear, space, cyberspace and other capabilities that can reach potential adversaries across the globe,” the US Defence Intelligence Agency said in a January report .

“As a comedian he failed, as a musician he failed woefully that’s why he is hiding under his keypad to shade everybody. Very soon he will fail as a blogger”

“I pray he doesn’t try me because I will beat him up anytime we see I no dey make mouth. Naturally God bless me with power and if I see who I go beat I know, tunde ednut is one of those that I can beat without thinking twice.”

Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi announced that NIIT can make ‘Made in Nigeria’ Cars. (See below)

Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has said the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) in Zaria, Kaduna State, has the capacity to design “made-in-Nigeria” vehicles.

A statement yesterday in Zaria by is Director of Public Affairs, Mr Paul Mshelizah, which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the minister spoke this during a familiarisation and facility tour of the institute.

It was during the repositioning retreat organised by the institute.

Amaechi said: “NITT has all it takes to design a car. I am sure the institute could convince the Federal Government that it has what it takes to design a made-in-Nigeria car.

“From design, to engine to body, then funding will not be an issue. We can create patency for NITT.”

The minister expressed satisfaction with the facilities but advised its management to ensure proper use and adequate maintenance of the equipment.

Amaechi also advised the NTT to seek accreditation from National Universities Commission (NUC) to run certain diploma programmes toward metamorphosing into a full-fledged university of transport and logistics.

The minister pledged the ministry’s support to create more faculties in the institute.

He called for a holistic perusal of the institute’s enabling law to know the scope of its mandate.

At its biodiesel laboratory, Amaechi urged the institute to expand the project aimed at producing made-in-Nigeria vehicles by establishing a feedstock farm for renewable energy.

He told NITT to factor into the 2021 budget the acquisition of about “200 hectares of land” to start the project.

The minister suggested that in subsequent budgets, personnel and other logistics for effective operation of the feedstock farm might be captured.

This, he said, can attract private investors to cue into the project.

Interacting with NITT N-Power automobile participants, the minister admonished them to be disciplined in everything they do.

Amaechi assured them of Federal Government’s commitment towards the success of the N-Power scheme, adding: “President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is interested in lifting people out of poverty.

“As potential entrepreneurs, you can create jobs by training a number of people in your workshop.

“I, therefore, enjoin you to utilise optimally the skills acquired through the scheme for personal gain as well as for the country at large.”

Speaking on behalf of the NITT N-Power participants, Mr Abdulazeez Owoseni-Salihu hailed the social investment programme of the present administration, especially the N-Power scheme.

Owoseni-Salihu noted that the scheme had not only empowered the beneficiaries but also changed their mind-sets toward self-sufficiency.

He appealed to the Federal Government to “kindly” provide N-Power graduates with “contemporary machines to enable them go into the field to practice the skills acquired”.

Amaechi, who answered reporters’ questions at the end of the facility tour, said: “I am satisfied with the facilities. All they need is just governance.

“In terms of equipment, they are doing well. But as professionals, they must put the equipment to use.

“The Federal Government will ensure that areas where you have infrastructure are properly funded.

“But you need to show that you are not only able to transfer knowledge but also able to supervise the trainees so that we can create employment.”

NITT’s Acting Director-General, Dr Bayero Salih-Farah, explained that the institute was accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to run Diploma and Advanced Diploma programmes.

He said NITT had entered into affiliation with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, to run postgraduate and Master’s degree programmes.

The acting director-general thanked the minister for not only attending the event personally but also visiting the institute’s headquarters in Zaria.

NAN reports that the facilities inspected included the new office of the director-general, main auditorium and the state-of-the-art facilities at the Transport Technology Centre (TTC) among others.

Gen. Yakub Gowon, Osinbajo, TUC expresses hope, others lament woes as Nigeria is about to clock 59.

Olufemi Atoyebi, Sunday Aborisade, Adelani Adepegba, Samuel Awoyinfa, Tunji Bosun, Peter Dada, Akure, Sola Shittu, Tony Okafor, Olalekan Adetayo, Tunde Oyekola and Ademola Babalola

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Sunday expressed optimism that despite the challenges facing the nation, a new Nigeria was about to be born.

Osinbajo spoke at the Independence Day interdenominational church service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.

At the event were the Chairman of the anniversary organising committee, Boss Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; security chiefs; President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Supo Ayokunle, and Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, who represented the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.

The Vice President said, “God has promised through the mouth of His trusted prophet that He is giving us a new Nigeria. May I announce to you today that God is ready to take us to the promised land. We must remember that the Almighty God is the builder of the nation. God controls the destiny of nations and its people.

“God has also promised us a new Nigeria, a peaceful Nigeria, a prosperous Nigeria, a Nigeria where justice, equity and fairness shall prevail, a united Nigeria, where the different tribes and tongues are not the reason for separation, but joyful textures of our togetherness. God is ready to fulfill his promise.

“Some are saying it is impossible, Nigeria cannot change, the ethnic and religious divisions are too deep, corruption cannot end, politicians are too selfish, too mischievous. Yet like Caleb and Joshua, if we declare that these problems are merely bread for us, a new Nigeria is here.”

Also at the event, a former head of state, Gen Yakubu Gowon (retd), called on Nigerians to salvage the nation from woes.

He said, “In the midst of the various inflicted challenges in Nigeria today, we can come together in the unity of faith to salvage the nation from its woes. I believe Nigeria is specially favoured by God and I am confident that God who preserved it in the past will do it again if only we can continue to fervently pray and do what is right and good before Him and fellowmen and women.”

TUC scores Nigeria low

But in its comment, the Trade Union Congress on Sunday said the position of Nigeria among the comity of nations of the world was a testimony of its failure to develop at a steady pace after 59 years of attaining independence.

Its President, Quadri Olaleye, and Secretary General, Musa-Lawal Ozigi, TUC said military incursion into politics, corruption, ethnicity, religious crisis were major reasons inhibiting the nation’s growth.

The statement read, “The military incursion into politics, corruption, ethnicity, religious crisis, etc have worked against our national development. It is even more worrisome and unfortunate that at this time and age the crack is widening by the day.

“We must interrogate the reason why countries we were at par with have left us far behind. China, India, Indonesia, etc were our contemporaries but they are now in the first league while we are dragging economic space with some countries in Africa.

“Although revenue from tax has improved significantly but unfortunately, instead of widening the tax net, the impoverished public is overtaxed, leading to despondency and despair.”

TUC also berated the Federal Government for failing to pay the new Minimum Wage of N30,000 as earlier agreed.

“We find it disturbing that months after the National Minimum Wage committee set up by the Federal Government to work on the new wage had submitted their report, government is still not committed to paying the new wage.

“We are beginning to think that signing it in the first place was because of the 2019 General Elections. To talk about setting up another committee over the same issue makes us feel we have been swindled. We have learnt our lessons. The argument on the part of government has always been that there is no money to pay minimum wage whereas lawmakers have budgeted N5.6bn to purchase automobile that are not produced in Nigeria. Our belief is that government can actually pay if only the cost of governance will be reduced,” it said.

Economic imbalance worries LCCI

On the economic front, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry says it is paradoxical that 59 years after independence, the oil sector still accounts for over 50 per cent of the nation’s revenue and over 80 per cent of the foreign exchange earnings.

This was contained in the independence message signed by the Director-General of the LCCI, Mr Muda Yusuf, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent.

The statement read, “Over the last 59 years, the Nigerian economy has transformed from a basically agrarian economy to an economy driven largely by resources from the oil and gas sector.

“The 2019 first quarter Gross Domestic Product data shows that the non-oil sector accounts for 90.9 per cent of the GDP while the oil sector accounts for 9.1 per cent.

“The paradox is that the oil sector accounts for over 50 per cent of the nation’s revenue and over 80 per cent of the foreign exchange earnings. This reflects the mounting imbalance in the structure of the economy since independence. It also underscores the growing decline in the non-oil sector productivity over the past 59 years.”

Obaseki calls for investment in youths

Meanwhile, the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has asked political leaders to invest in the younger generation to enable them compete with their peers in a world driven by technology.

Obaseki said this during the Sunday Service at the Firm Foundation Church International in Benin City, Edo State capital on Sunday.

He said, “As Nigeria turns 59, we must invest in the younger generation. The country must ensure that youths are empowered and prepared for the future. We need to give them quality education, build the necessary infrastructure for them to operate and reposition them for the technology-driven world ahead.”

Earlier, Lead Pastor, Firm Foundation International, Pastor Kay Benson-Akhigbe in her sermon, titled ‘What time is it,’ said she had seen a better Edo State under Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Obiano seeks prayers for leaders

In Anambra, the state Governor, Willie Obiano, called on Nigerians to pray for their leaders and pay taxes for the development of the country.

Obiano stated this during a church service at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka.

He said, “I urge all to pray for the leaders to succeed, as well as do your own bit, which include prompt payment of taxes for the betterment of the state and country.”

In his homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, said Christians by their faith had the calling of changing society for the better.

He added, “The Federal Government has not taken any drastic action to curb the menace of the Fulani Herdsmen attacks.

“It appears the Federal Government values cows more than human beings, and as such has failed in addressing the many attacks and killings of innocent persons by suspected Fulani Herdsmen.”

Nigeria groping, says pol science prof

Contrary to the claim in some quarters that Nigeria was making progress, a professor of Political Science at the Lagos State University, Sylvester Odion-Akhaine, has said the country is groping politically.

Odion-Akhaine said this in an interview with our correspondent on Sunday.

In his assessment, the university teacher said Nigeria was grappling with what he called foundational problem.

He said, “Politically, the country is groping. 59 years on, we have not been able to get right what scholars have called the rightfulness of the unit.

“The Nigerian state has a foundational problem. The people don’t see themselves as Nigerians, except in ethno identity forms.

“The state question as distinct from the form of government must be resolved if the country must progress. “

Kwara gov makes case for the poor

In his message to mark the anniversary, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State called on leaders to focus on the poor.

The governor made the call at a service to mark the anniversary of held at Saint John African Church, Maraba, Ilorin, Kwara State

The Chairman of the state Christian Association of Nigeria, Prof. Timothy Opoola, prayed that the Lord would deliver the nation from its challenges.

Ex-Villa chaplain blames woes on ethnic, religious bigots

A former Presidential Villa Chaplain and General Overseer, All Christians Fellowship Mission, Abuja, Rev. William Okoye, has attributed the nation’s under-development to bad leadership, distorted values, ethnicity and religious bigotry and the absence of meritocracy in national affairs.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Sunday, Okoye said, “Our nation Nigeria, though very richly endowed by God, was crippled from the beginning by our deception, falsehood, selfishness and greed. We don’t have national leaders; Most of our leaders are ethnic champions and religious bigots.

“One of our greatest undoing as a people is our distorted sense of value and Nigeria’s worsening image around the world.”

Respect nation’s laws, Esele tells Buhari

Still on the heel of Nigeria’s 59 Independence anniversary, a former president of the Trade Union Congress, Mr Peter Esele, has urged President Muhammad Buhari to respect the nation’s law and keep to agreements.

Speaking with journalists in Benin on Sunday, Esele said Buhari must see himself as President of Nigeria and not a state.

“The President of this country must see himself as the president of Nigeria and not a state, and must be able to separate the state from the president as the state must be supreme at all times,” he said.

He also stressed the need for leaders of the country to tackle the challenges facing the Nigeria and lamented government’s inability to pay the national minimum wage.

Nnamani tells leaders to tackle poverty

In his message on Sunday, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa/NEPAD, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, asked Nigerian leaders to tackle poverty, ignorance and disease.

He said the vices were impeding the development of the country.

Nnamani noted that almost six decades after Nigeria attained her independence, the country was still faced with the challenges of inequality, unemployment, ethnicity and illiteracy.

The former governor of Enugu State urged leaders at all levels to make deliberate efforts through policies and programmes to engender development.

He also appealed to leaders to rescue the people from ignorance, squalor, disease and poverty.

Nigeria can’t disintegrate –Akeredolu

In Ondo, the state Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, had declared that the country was still faring well in spite of its various challenges.

The governor said many countries had disintegrated with half of the challenges being faced by Nigeria but the country was still together, moving on.

Akeredolu stated this on Sunday, at a church service to mark Nigeria’s 59th anniversary held at The Redeemed Christian Church of God at Oke-Ijebu Akure, the state capital

Represented by his deputy, Mr Agboola Ajayi, the governor said, “In spite of all the challenges we have faced as a people, it has pleased God to allow us to remain as one indivisible entity. As we all know, some countries whose challenges were not as daunting as ours have disintegrated.”

Be patriotic, Makinde tells Nigerians

Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has called on Nigerians to rise as compatriots and serve their fatherland conscientiously in any position they may find themselves.

Makinde made the call on Sunday during a thanksgiving service at St. Peters Anglican Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan.

Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, the governor noted that if Nigeria would move from poverty to prosperity, all hands must be on deck.

In his sermon titled, ‘Righteousness exalts a nation,” The Very Reverend Andrew Adebiyi of the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, maintained that Nigeria could only be prosperous with righteous leaders and followers.

Abiodun seeks prayer for Buhari

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, in his message called on Nigerians to support the Federal Government with prayers and work with President Muhammadu Buhari to end insurgency and other insecurity challenges .

The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said Nigeria had all it would takes to be a great nation.

Abiodun said: “I call on Nigerians to support the present administration with prayers and work with President Buhari to end insurgency and other fault-lines that divide us as one indivisible and united country.

“I pray that the country would witness prosperity, peace and progress.

“It was a divine mandate that the President won this year’s presidential election and his efforts so far justifies the confidence reposed on him.”

We have not exonerated osinbajo from the allegations, we are waiting for investigations.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) says it has not exonerated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in the recent N90 billion scandal.

Recall that the leadership of the Christian body visited the Vice President last Friday to discuss the N90 billion he allegedly received from the Federal Inland Revenue Service FIRS during the buildup of the 2019 general elections. The body after the meeting said it is throwing its weight behind the Vice President in this trying time. Many had interpreted this to mean the body had exonerated the Vice President from any wrongdoing.

However in a statement released on Sunday September 29th, the Special Assistant (Media & Communications) to CAN president Rev. Samson Ayokunle, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, said the Christian body can never endorse corruption and has not exonerated Osinbajo from the allegation. The body says it awaits the outcome of investigations into the allegation.

The statement in part reads

“The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) can never endorse corruption and has never exonerated anyone accused of corruption because we are not a court of law. Anyone accused of corruption has to prove his or her innocence with documentary evidence before the court of competent jurisdiction as we all know before his or her innocence can be upheld.

“CAN leadership visited the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo last Friday to hear his side of the story instead of rushing to the press either to condemn him or throw our weight behind him. This we believe, there is no law that is against our action.

“After we had interacted with him and he said that the allegation was baseless and should be treated as rubbish, and not only that, that he said that he was going to pursue the matter legally to prove his innocence, we then assured him that if he is proved innocent, then we throw our weight behind him.

“We thereafter prayed for him and our nation Nigeria. We urged him to continue to serve the nation with clean hands. The leadership of CAN has never endorsed corruption. In our earlier visits to President Muhammadu Buhari, we had praised him for fighting war against corruption but urged him to make it comprehensive, sparing no one irrespective of political affiliation.”

Timi Frank, a former deputy spokesperson of the APC had alleged that the purported faceoff between President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo started when the presidency discovered that Osinbajo accepted N90 billion from FIRS during the buildup of the 2019 general election. Frank said Osinbajo has not been able to give the president an account of how the money was spent.

Vice President Osinbajo has since denied the allegation and has filed legal proceedings against Timi Frank.
